We knew we should have walked out as soon as we saw the other patrons. We were the youngest by a few decades and being a gay couple didn’t make things any less uncomfortable. The fisherman’s platter was okay, nothing special but not completely inedible. My boyfriend got the prime rib, which was totally underwhelming, in spite of being available only on Friday and Saturday nights. The 12 oz. cut was at least half fat, and butter seemed to be aimlessly smothered on the spinach and mashed potatoes. Definitely not the special night out we had hoped for… Or paid for.

This place doesn’t get the credit it deserves. I’ve never had a bad meal. The seafood Alfredo is a personal favorite with lobster, scallops and shrimp.

We went to Jules with three other couples on New Year’s Eve. The food was spectacular, with numerous, delicious entrees presented in a long and beautifully decorated buffet line of tables. Salads, breads and luscious looking desserts were also available. The band was excellent and the bar area and dance floor set up with hundreds of balloons dangling with ribbons and streamers. Everyone in our group was delighted with the wonderful quality and taste of each dish. They even had a prime rib cutting station. They gave out beads, feathered tiaras for the ladies and New Year’s Eve derby hats to the men plus a toast for midnight. All of this for only $ 75.00 per couple! I highly recommend this restaurant and cannot wait to go back there again. The atmosphere is great with fabulous views of the Merrimack River.

After having friends tell us not to waste our time at this place, we decided to give it a shot today for lunch. Well, the lunch menu is very small, most is different sorts of burgers, a haddock plate and haddock sandwich. The haddock sandwich was $ 11 dollars and not worth that price, have had the same exact thing at the Lobster Tail for $ 8 and its much bigger and comes with fries. The burgers are all priced either $ 10 or $ 11 dollars, please, its a hamburger, its not a rib eye steak, this price is nuts for a burger. We both ordered our burgers med. rare, they both came well done and the fries were soggy and full of grease. Don’t waste your time at this place, there are much better restaurants in the area. Plus the locks on the doors in the ladies room were broken and did not work at all.

I have been here 3 times in the past year. I order the baked haddock which is always delicious. Other diners I go with order the steak tips and the lobster ravioli which they rave about. I definitely recommend this place! It’s a nice restaurant option in the area and I’ll be back!

We can’t figure out why this place is empty so often… it’s phenomenal! Braised short ribs were amazing and the service was more than attentive. Repeat customers for sure.

Nice restaurant on the river with a good view. The wait to sit outside was about an hour, so we opted for an indoor table next to a window. Also important to note, Jules faces the East, so if you cone expecting a sunset view, you may be disappointed. Food was decent, I had the marinated steak tips and vegetable of the day, which happened to be seasoned corn. I also had the Jules Punch, which was very sweet and light on alcohol, I wouldn’t recommend it. The interior could definitely use an update. For the price of the menu items, it was blandly decorated, many of the ceiling tiles were stained and sagging, and the bathroom stall locks were broken. Nice spot, but definitely not a place for an upscale night out.

Went to this restaurant with colleagues for a lunch meeting. The service was great, atmosphere and décor was beautiful. I went on a rainy day so we were not able to sit out on the deck but the view from inside was still great! The food was delicious! I tried the chicken parmesan on ziti and had more than enough to take some home. All my colleagues were more than pleased with their meals as well. It is definitely worth it. I plan to return soon!

If I could give this restaurant no stars I would. Worst service I have experienced anywhere. We were seated at 12 and were not provided with menus. It took our waitress more than 20 mins to ASK if we wanted menus. I’m sorry but why else would we be sitting there if we weren’t looking to order. Dumbest question I have ever been ask by anyone in the service industry. It then took her another 20 mins to come back to take our order. It then took another 30 mins for our food to come out. Once the food arrived our waitress barely stopped by the table to check on us. After she cleared our plates and left the check, it took her another 20 mins to come back with change. They do not have enough waitstaff to support their business. One waitress loudly in front of us told the hostess if they don’t hire a bus boy I’m not coming in to work. Clearly this restaurant doesn’t even have the respect of its staff. I will not be returning to this restaurant.

Stopped in at 8:05 on Monday night and we were promptly told by the hostess that the kitchen closes at 8 on Mondays. Found this funny as their website clearly states restaurant hours on Monday 11 – 10 pm. Oh well lost customer as an 8 pm kitchen close is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard of. Would’ve been the 1st time but surely will be the last

Too much food, split a dish, average preparation. Ritz crackers on haddock. Yuk. Nice views. Doubt I’ll go back.

Went Saturday night. Waited at bar for a table on the deck. Male bartender very attentive despite getting no help from female bartender. Paid the check, left generous tip on bar. Female bartender who did nothing comes over and scoops the tip. No eye contact, no thanks, no nothing. Very entitled it seems to me. Food and dinner service fine until the otherwise excellent waiter asked if I needed change. Wait staff please understand that this is not appropriate. It’s not the customer’s job to provide exact change so you don’t have to return to the table. Managers please train these kids.

Went to Jules last night lured by great weather and their deck. We had vowed last time we went Never Again. We should have found somewhere else to enjoy the weather. The food is terrible. Flat bread pizza was inedible. They only offer meals after 4pm. A sandwich or burger is a would be a nice option on the deck. The table beside us was told there was a 40 minute wait for mashed potatoes. Would fries be ok? This is at 6pm. Beautiful ambience, good drinks, terrible food. This is our 4th and last time. We tried.

They have started to offer a Jazz Sunday Brunch Buffet. The buffet is very good, food is tasty. they keep it fresh. They have carving stations, omelet and waffle stations. It is well worth it. My only caution is the musicians that were there the two time I was there are NOT Jazz musicians. They are a nice touch but don’t go for the music. They have GREAT martinis!

Unassuming upscale, staff is a little inexperienced but great prime rib & trimmings(salad extra) for $ 23. Nice place Friday night two man band. Read the menus prices are always changing. Decent bar room seating look nice/new. Convenient off I-93, watch for typical Mass Rotary, dangerous when dark. Locals seem to like it.

We came for drinks and stayed for Nick! Nick has been our server the 4 times we’ve «tried»(I guess we’re regulars now) Jules and he is fantastic. Service is king! Why not 5-stars? The food. I can only judge the appetizers, so I don’t want to judge too harsh. Lollipop wings — too pricy for what you get. Leaves you hungry for regular wings. Taste is good though. Mussels — several empty shells and broken shells(not cool when you like dunking the broth). Fantastic broth. Nachos — awful. Sorry. I’m glad you got rid of the cheese whiz, but you have to figure out this classic app. Diced onions??? Who does that? Unmelted cheese? Unthinkable! Salsa on top? Eeeeek!(Side!) I don’t know… I have faith you can knock this one out. The prices are a bit high, so going there is a treat. I wish it were a wee bit more affordable. They’ve got great service, location, and atmosphere. I’d love to make it a «regular» spot. If you go and get Nick, you won’t be disappointed!

We finally got to try out the new Jules On The Water in Methuen, MA. Read a few of the reviews on Unilocal, and thought I’d try it out for myself… I take great stock in reviews generally, but a lot of them are one or two posters, and thought I’d check out the restaurant for myself. Let me tell you, this is a great little restaurant! The décor is beautiful. Classy but comfortable and cozy. The tables and chairs are very unique and beautiful. Also great music to dine by. They have an outside deck overlooking the Merrimack River with WiFi, so it’s a great spot for business people for lunch, or anyone wanting to enjoy some great food, with a great view. There’s also a great bar area as well, which overlooks the Merrimack River from the inside. As of a couple of weeks ago, they have a new chef, Robert Verdi. Robert was the chef at Glenview Pub and Grille. We have been there twice so far, and BOTH times the food was very, very good. The food is «cooked to order» and can take time to prepare. I cook a lot of the foods you see on the their menu being a Self-Taught cook, and can realize this, so for me I don’t have an unrealistic expectation of food coming out immediately. Besides if I wanted McDonald’s…I’d go there. We were served bread which was delicious with a seasoned olive oil for dipping. Bread was crusty on the outside but soft on the inside. Very good. I got an Apple Martini both times, which comes in a shaker, and they fill your glass at the table and leave the shaker. Very good martini!!! The first time, I got Baked Haddock and the hubby, the 16 oz. New York Sirloin. He said his was cooked perfectly, which is always a challenge a most restaurants, and was tender and delicious. He is the pickiest person I know when it comes to steak. Trust me, if he said it was tender… it was tender. His came with garlic mashed potatoes and spinach. My fish was also cooked to perfection, was juicy and delicious, with a crunchy, buttery, cracker topping. Mine came with a baked potato and roasted asparagus. As far as portions, don’t let the pictures I posted fool you. The plates that the food is served on are huge, and the portions are VERY generous. Second time, I got the Baked Seafood Platter, with mashed sweet potato and broccoli. The fish was delicious once again, with the crunchy topping I love. The scallops were sweet, tender and juicy… just like they should be. I was a little worried about getting them, because they were described as broiled, and typically broiled doesn’t have any topping(which is something I dislike), but they also came with the delicious crunchy topping! The dish also comes with stuffed shrimp. I mentioned to the server that I didn’t care for shrimp, and thought I’d give to the hubby. He never ate them because he was so full. She said to tell the server next time and they will accommodate me with something else in place of the shrimp. Even without eating the shrimp, I was full to the brim. The hubby got the Fried Clams and Scallops with french fries. He opted out of the cole slaw and asked for onion rings instead. There was a slight up charge of $ 1.50 which is understandable, and according to him, was well worth it. He said the onion rings were delicious. His clams and scallops were also tender, sweet and cooked to perfection. Well worth the price. As I just bought some Dry Scallops the other day at $ 19.99 a pound, So I’d say its a very good price for the Fried Clam and Scallop entrée they offer!!! Both times there were great dining experiences, with excellent service, high quality food cooked to perfection, and very fair prices. Chef Robert is doing a great job from what we can see, I can hardly wait to try those pork chops on the menu next time! Sandy,
