I had a few of the empanadas and the breakfast arepas. I must say«it’s really good». Nice cozy restaurant and friendly staff.

Great Latin comfort food! Got here around 1pm so a lot of the top choices were sold out already but I still had a great selection. I was starving so I made sure to get a decent selection ;). –breakfast arepa: «El Perico” — scrambled eggs with tomatoes, onions and cheese– totally tasted like a Salvadoran breakfast but in sandwich form made of tortillas! So yummy! Hit the spot –Empanada de Espinaca con queso(spinach and cheese): DELICIOUS– basically the Latin Empanada version of a spanakopita. Loved this one –Empanada«Domino» — black beans and cheese filling– the empanada dough was delicious. Not as much filling as I was hoping for. More cheese than beans but it was still ok — pastry if guava and cheese– ok I’m not gonna lie I was comparing this to Portos in LA. The filling was delicious but the pastry wasn’t as flaky and crispy as I hoped for a puff pastry. I still enjoyed it though ! — café con leche: one word yummmmm! I really like this place, if I lived here I would probably be a local. The only con I have was that the staff kinda took a while to attend me cuz they were busy counting money or other ransoms stuff but they were really nice either way.

Great place. Offer a little bit of everything. Meals, drinks, coffee, wine, desserts. Parking is small, be patient.

With all the wonderful treats around South Beach, I ended up eating pastries and bread every day. Luckily my pants still fit after a week. Charlotte bakery was on my places to visit, being near my hotel. I arrived early on the day I flew out. I saw the fresh arepas in the case and knew it was destiny. Ham and cheese. I ordered. Do you want egg? They asked. Oh! Made to order arepas at the counter. I didn’t expect that. Next thing I know a large tub of butter and a thick block of cubed ham landed on the cutting board. It was that kind of gross processed ham that I abhor. It was too late. The cheese looked cheap too. Ruining an other wise fabulous arepa. I should’ve gotten just egg maybe. A dulce de leche cannoli came as a prize for the plane trip. I was dismayed and let down by the arepa, and for $ 5, even in south beach you can find much better quality food options, especially at the local Latin markets.

Love love love this place. I always make a stop here while in Miami. This places has the best empanadas and other bakery items. Highly recommend the fresh squeezed orange juice and café con Leche. For those with gluten allergies, they have arepas and pan de bono(cheese bread). Check them out!

This 5 Stars is for the Tres Leches… I plain and simply haven’t had better anywhere… and I try it just about everywhere I can find it:) I would make a special trip to Charlotte the next time I’m in Miami just to have it again. My family wholeheartedly agrees! Perfectly creamy, with the exact amount of cakiness, and finished off with a meringue top… The meringue, gives it a marshmallowy, hinted with Caramel flavor that pushes it over the top.

Had to visit twice because in the forenoon they are pretty much sold out of everything but the next morning it was packed! Service was very pleasant and quick too. The tres leche cake was delicious!!! It was like eating caramel lol but it was really sweet in an addictive way, I don’t mind but if you don’t have a super sweet tooth either bypass it or share it-3 of us split it. The croquettes!!! Amazing all of them so good especially the spinach it was my favorite. Empanadas flaky and warm I had the spicy chicken really good spot and inexpensive– check it out but go early!

totally bomb place for a cortado and a pastry! The clerks are super nice and quick. Why would you get café from the main strip when you can come in here? the ham and cheese criossant was huge and delicious.

So many choices and all were PHENOMENAL! Our friends that live in Miami love this place and brought us for breakfast one morning. It’s a popular location and kind of small with limited seating so I noticed many people taking their food to go. All the empanadas are in trays that are kept warm, so they just have to bag up the food and you’re set to go! They have a case with lots of great drink options, and they also make coffees and fresh squeezed OJ. Everything I tried was fantastic– we had beef with cilantro, bean, chicken, cheese, more cheese, a cheesy style bread, etc etc. The empanadas were about $ 2.50-$ 3 each, and I easily could’ve just eaten one and been fine, but our guests loaded up trays with tons to try, so it was nice to enjoy the variety! TIP: They DONOT have a bathroom in the shop thats open to customers AND Charlotte Café next door is not related to this site, so they didn’t want to let us use their bathroom either. That was a pretty big deal in my mind, so plan accordingly.

In Miami for the weekend, I had a craving for Tres Leches. I Unilocal’d Tres Leches cake and found Charlotte’s Bakery to be right around the corner from where I was staying so I gave it a try. I walked into a small bakery and was greeted with the aroma of freshly baked empanadas. All of the cakes were in a refrigerated display in the middle of the bakery. The Tres Leches was served in a well-portioned cup soaked in the 3 milks and topped with a marshmallow meringue cream. ¡Qué rico! I absolutely love my Tres Leches cake to be completely soaked in milk as it should be, and Charlotte’s Bakery hit it on the nail. The cake is very, very sweet so two people can definitely share one portion. Overall delicious Tres Leches. probably the best I’ve ever had. Just keep a glass of water on hand!

Charlotte Bakery is another one of those SoBe gems that you have to either read about or decide to go into as you walk by. This was one of my go-to breakfast spots when I started working on the beach, and I recently went back after not visiting for a while(a poor choice on my part). My favorite thing here used to be a peluda, a Venezuelan-style empanada(made of corn meal and fried) stuffed with shredded beef and cheese. I was sad when I went this past week and was told they no longer made them because they didn’t sell too well. What is wrong with everyone?! This thing was delicious! Anyway, I decided to just get a carne mechada empanada, and was equally satisfied! I also had some fresh-squeezed orange juice that is made to order. Charlotte usually also has a different juice every day. I’ve tried the orange, carrot, & beet juice which is really yummy, assuming you like beets. In addition to the Venezuelan empanadas, they also sell Argentinian empanadas, and a variety of Colombian and Chilean pastries. They also have arepas which can be stuffed with a variety of items, and serve a variety of breakfast specials(meals of eggs, meat, toast, etc.). Their café con leche is also delicious! This place gets packed in the mornings, especially when the weather outside is nice. I’ve gone in and waited for 30 minutes before, usually because people order the breakfast specials that need to be cooked. Either way, it’s worth it. They use Square for checkout and if you sign up with them(can’t remember if it’s linked to your credit card or maybe a phone number), you get a credit after a certain number of purchases!

4 starts for bakery in its category. Tiny little bakery, two workers max. It gets a bit busy as times, but food is fresh and tasty. We loved the fresh Oj, the tostadas and café con leche, Argentinian empanadas(except the spinach one – not good), as well as the tequenos, pan de bono, and pastries. We visited this bakery, every day for breakfast during our vacation, great money saver!

Charlotte Bakery was incredible! Tons of empanadas to choose from in all the Latin styles(Venezuelan, Argentinian, Colombian etc.) There were sweet and savory options as well as to go snadwhiches. Great prices for a delicious meal. The service was spot on as well. Spanish or English, no problem.

Solid coffee, croquets and empanadas. I like their variety. I’ve had better empanadas in more hole in the wall establishments nearby but this was really satisfying since we were tight on time this past short weekend. It didn’t help time-wise that they forgot my order of croquets but service was friendly and kind enough. I wish they weren’t so stingy with that delicious green sauce charging for take out to some people in our group. At least give us the first one free: P My favorite was the empanada of the month that went perfectly with that green sauce. But definitely try a few different ones for the experience! Hot authentic café con leche hit the spot even in the near 100 degree temperature. Love that their air conditioning was strong and blasting. Perfect spot for a break.

GREAT place for coffee, breakfast sandwiches, and bakery. Seems to be run by a family, who were so friendly and nice. It’s small inside with only a few tables and chairs. Def recommend the croissant looking thing with the guava inside. Delicious! As well as a ham, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. They bread it’s made in taste like Cuban bread. So good!

Countless visits later, it’s time to update my review as my original one just doesn’t do this place justice. Charlotte Bakery has become a staple for me when I’m on the beach. I’ll find any excuse I can to swing by for one of their empanadas, and it’s also a place I show off to most visitors for breakfast. What’s awesome about this spot is that they make empandas in all different styles — flaky Argentinian made with wheat flour, Venezuelan fried made with corn, and everything in between. In addition to the empanadas, they have other baked treats like ham and cheese croissants, tequeños, croquetas, stuffed arepas, and pan de bono. I think there’s something for everyone here! My favorite is the Venezuelan pabellón empanada with beans, plantains, beef and cheese. It’s definitely a full meal but usually I can eat a little bit of something else on the side. They recently started making a special empanada that changes all the time which is fun to try. Whatever you order, just make sure to ask for guasacaca, a creamy, avocado-based sauce that balances out the empanada perfectly. On a recent visit, my Argentinian friend was excited to see their array of facturas. They also have other sweet treats like chocolate croissants, delicious looking cakes, and even homemade dulce de leche for sale! On the back wall, you’ll also spy Argentinian products that might be hard to find elsewhere. For sips, they have fresh juices, coffee and a variety of bottled beverages. It’s a small space but there are some high tops to take a quick seat to eat your meal. Of course, lots of people stock up and take it to go. The service here is always quick(because they have to be) but friendly, even to tourists that might not know what is going on. If I ever move away from Miami, this is definitely a spot that I’ll miss!

I tried the spinach and the chicken one and I really liked the taste of the crust. It’s buttery and flakey :) however, it lacked enough seasoning and spice. Also, $ 2.25 for a small empanada is a bit pricy. I would price it $ 1.75 each or make them a bit bigger. The cookies have good variety but I didnt find them appealing. If I were back to south beach I would have checked this place out again to try other types of empanada.

Another great find thanks to Unilocal, this little bakery/café adds a Latin American touch to breakfast. It’s only one block away from the bustle of Collins Avenue. The vibe inside is one of a little Parisian café, with wooden tables and glass counters displaying their food. Their breakfast dishes are advertised on a chalkboard above the counter. If you don’t read Spanish, just ask the girl. Like a modern cave man, I grunted that I wanted a mix of eggs and meat. The girl helped me select a few things, including an arepa and a baked empanda. Their default way of making coffee is the Latin American way, i.e. with a lot of milk. For some reason, I was taken for a gringo and asked if I wanted my coffee made the American way. It turned out really good – probably the best coffee I’ve had outside of my home in a while. Just get there early – the line was really long when I left.
