I went w. a gift certificate & would have happily spent the same amount of money feeding 25 people from Taco Bell. The outside area looks great & I was excited to sit on the comfy couches & tables outside to hang out with some friends. We ordered a few appetizers which were all served as non-descript, mushy offerings. Our food was also less than stellar; despite the fact we all ordered different stuff, it all LOOKEDTHESAME. I know a taco is a taco, but a fajita, is not a taco, is not a burrito. The sides seemed reheated, especially their rice. I enjoyed their drinks, but they were served with way too much ice(watered down quickly in Miami weather). I don’t know how this chain is sweeping Latin America =/

I visited Tacotento because my friend had gone before and told me it was good. Now, I have my other favorite Mexican restaurants around Miami Beach so I was a bit skeptical. My suspicions were correct and this place really wasn’t very good. The service was just OK, and the food was nothing great.

I’ve eaten here a few times and always had a good experience, but the food is never memorable. I go more for the convenience that it’s near my work place and the giant margaritas are fun to share. The other drinks tend to be strong when I visit. Had the queso fundido which is like their thing I guess, but it wasn’t anything special. I’ve also had the flautas… also not memorable. I’ve done a tacontento platter and some version of tacos which was obviously not stand-out amazing because I don’t remember what it was. I guess I’d say this place is just mediocore Mexican at an ok price. At least it’s right next to a parking garage? I’ll probably try one more time to sample the enchiladas and then I’m done with it.

Not worth it. The super small portion of guacamole was not worth $ 9. It was chunky and it seemed like there was more onion and tomato than avocado. The little sauce sampler at the beginning was confusing. Do we eat this all now with the chips or save it for the tacos? I ordered the vegetarian tacos. Meh. Not really a fan of the sauteed mushrooms. I didn’t know my meal had some assembly required. I wouldn’t have minded as much if they had included better toppings. And I agree with Michelle W., the beans tasted weird. Like they were charred or something. And $ 2 extra to add cheese, really?! Service got slower as the meal progressed. It took forever to get and pay the bill. Walk an extra block and hit up Rancho Grande instead.

This place is great. The homemade tortilla’s are the best I have ever had and I lived in Los Angeles. They make them fresh to order and you can watch. The margarita’s are delightful as well. We usually get the sampler platter… It is enough for two and you can taste all the meats. The only down side is that it is a little pricey for a mexican restaraunt although it is near Lincoln on Miami Beach.

What a scene on a Friday night. Packed with all sorts, mariachi men roaming the indoor outdoor spot, noise and boisterous enjoymnet. House fried chips and eight little dishes with salsas and to go with. Food was decent… queso fundido could be more cooked, flautas were quite good. Food and scene plus friendly servers make for a happening joint off Lincoln Road.

We were warned. «Don’t get the Margarita. It’s the worst.» Well, that’s all we were warned about. I wish we were warned about more. This alley way location is not the easiest and I give this Latin American chain restaurant credit for adding some life to this location– however after our experience, I fear for their future. My husband who wanted to be convinced otherwise, ordered the margarita. Horrible. Lacked ice, tasted of Rose’s Lime and cheap tequila. Have you ever tasted that Margarita in a Bucket mix on a drunken jaunt in the Keys? Ya– THAT is better than the margarita at Tacontent-NO. As for the food. I had chicken tacos and my husband had some pork taco concoction. At least– served on yummy corn tortillas. Not horrible. But nothing memorable. The server never explained what was in each of the ramekins so prettily presented on a wood board– and we had to stare at them instead of being able to dig into them with some complimentary nacho chips… which along with a delicious margarita– they don’t serve. I have always bitched about the authenticity of the«Mexican» food at El Rancho Grande just down the street off of Lincoln and Pennsylvania– and I have been known to kvetch at how everything at Lime tastes the same– but after last night– I now consider Rancho Grande the el jefe of Mexican food on the beach. Oh and the plastic branded plates– were annoying and cheap and continually reminded me that we were dining at a chain restaurant after all. WIth a logo that looked just like some other bad chain… Don’t go. Trust me.

Solid Mexican food with a play on words. I left here so friggen happy… not only because they have a full bar and a kitchen open after midnight, but the food hit the spot. We ordered the guacamole which I know I’ve had much better, but it was still good. We also ordered the chicken nachos which were amazing and completely smothered in cheese, re-fried beans, guacamole, small pieces of perfectly flavored chicken, and sour cream. Finally, we all shared a steak burrito which was probably the best burrito I’ve had. I don’t know what was in it, but it just tasted different from any other burrito I’ve had. Seating is inside or out. Parking is on the street or in the garage. This is a great place for a late night snack/meal or I would love to come here during the day too. Estoy Contenta con Tacontento!

Been here a couple of times for lunch, and it’s definitely good stuff. The«tacotento» platter is the best deal if you are with a friend. It is basically the same price as two taco entrees except you get a large assortment of meat and some flautas, cheese fondue, and guac in case you haven’t stuffed your face enough. If you don’t want to bust your diet on one meal, you can always have the tacotento salad. I’ve tried it with chicken and it was surprisingly awesome. They serve pretty strong margaritas here too which is a big plus. Super kid friendly as well with lots of couches to sit on inside and out. It’s a little pricey but I guess that is expected on Lincoln Road — probably deserves 3 stars due to the pricing but the food taste gets 4 stars.

The spot is great, the Margaritas, perfect, but the food is forgettable, and I am being kind. I don’t remember what I ate, my husband had tacos and he got a couple of unevenly folded tortillas filled up with meat, unceremoniously slammed on a plate, without any of the usual Mexican staples(refried beans, guac and such). This is a good place to have a couple of drinks after an exhausting afternoon of shopping, just don’t bother to eat!

Awful. I have been wanting to try this place out since before they opened. The outdoor décor looked colorful and fun. Today I stood outside perusing the menu. I was really hungry. The waiter asked if I needed help. I said I would like to order the«sampler». Perhaps it was a language barrier that caused him to give me the«to go» menu. I said: no, I would like to stay and order the sampler. He then gave me both the regular and take out menu. I immediately noticed that the prices on the actual menu were all higher than the big banner menu at the front of the restaurant. I still decided to say and ordered nachos with grilled chicken on top. And a glass of water. The water was lukewarm and the dish was cold. The cheese tasted like velveeta. The«refried beans» were solid white beans. The dish was tasteless, but no one came around to check on me. When the waiter finally arrived to ask, I was almost done. I asked for something spicy like sauce or salsa. He brought out a tray of 6 sauces. None of them were spicy but at least they added some flavor to my almost finished lunch. Don’t waste your time or money here.

I have to agree with other reviewers. The food was good but the service was terrible. I have lived in Miami for 5 years now so I don;t have much expectations when it comes to service but this was bad. Two of us arrived first and received water the other 4 never received any water. They forgot one of our orders and I had to search for the waitress to let her know. She said we’re busy. It is the week before Christmas and NYE of course you are busy! In the end we had all finished eating by the time the last meal came. The waitress gave us complimentary dessert due to all this but I would much rather have paid for dessert and had a relaxing meal with all food delivered on time. NOT contento!

after burning some calories at the car show… we needed to refuel. and so we did… at tacontento. overall it was just ‘ok’…i feel like a 2.876 rating would have been more appropriate. i loved the décor– very colorful with hanging pinatas all over the place. i also loved the outside seating. we had the chicken nachos which were quite yummy. the chips are home made and ultra thick and crunchy– loved them! also had the pork tacos. now, i don’t know about other tacos, but these were pretty bland. no flavor whatsoever! they give you a tray of spices to add to your food. but even then the tacos weren’t very tasty. i am no expert in mexican food by any means, but this seemed more ‘authentic’ than other mexican places. the tortilla was different… in a good way(i think).

Was next door shopping at Macy’s and we finally decided to give Tacontento a try. With so many mixed reviews we were not expecting much. We were greeted and taken to our table that was so comfy. A bench with big floppy pillows for total comfort on your back. The décor is very bright colors, pinatas hanging everywhere, cool lights, and just a very fun inviting atmosphere. Our waitress was knowledgeable and gave good service. She let me try the red sangria before ordering it as I was afraid it may be to sweet. It was sweet but not to bad so I ordered one and it did come with fresh fruit in a large glass. Appetizer, we started with the chicken nacho’s.It arrived and the nachos are the very thick crunchy kind. Not really my style, I prefer the lighter. Small pieces of chicken, a cheese like Velveeta style. They were OK but very forgettable. As our entrée’s we both ordered Burritos, you get two for $ 11. We ordered chicken and beef and shared. Meat and chicken were good although the steak was better than the chicken. My only complaint is not much flavor to them. The server did bring out six different types of sauces ranging from mole to salsa, mild to spicy. Most of all of them were very good and if you run out they are more than happy to bring you out more. I just kept dipping my burritos into several different sauces to add some flavor. Prices were typical beach prices, service was good, really liked the atmosphere. I would go back but would not go out of my way to come here, as it was a tad unforgettable(the quality of the food)

I live in Miami and I had 8 friends in town for one of their bachelorette party. All the girls wanted a fun, tasty Mexican place for dinner and I had heard about Tacontento so we ended up there. In one word: AMAZING! The restaurant is greatly located right off of Lincold Road, so it was a great spot for dinner because the girls got to see one of my favorite areas of Miami. We had a reservation(for 9) and got there and our table was already set up. The staff could NOT be friendlier! They made our group feel really special, they made my bride-to-be friend the center of attention and treated us incredibly well! Our waiter’s name was Dan and he was adorable! So cute and sweet, really went above and beyond to make sure we had a great night. It was practically a hurricane going on outside when we were ready to leave, so Dan stood in the rain to get us cabs. Best server ever! On to the FOOD! DELICIOUS! The tacos and burritos are SO good. I had the churrasco tacos, SOGOOD! The pork tacos were amazing too and the guac and queso fundido were amazing! Overall this place was AWESOME. It’s low key enough where you can go on a normal night and have a nice dinner, but festive and lively enough where you can go for a big celebration like we did and have a fantastic night. I highly recommend this place! Will definitely come back soon!

The décor in this place is really cute. The server was friendly, although a little slow. I did like that the manager came over at one point during our meal to make sure everything was OK. I know they were still working on their liquor license, so only sangria & beer for now. The guac was decent and the food was OK. The beans had a weird taste to me that I didn’t care for… maybe they use lard? … anyhow, I will probably be back to check it out again and skip anything with beans. Decent Mexican for Miami.

Tacotento must be a mirage because it’s got things I’ve never seen in Miami Beach before like: Great Mexican Food, Amazing Service and Reasonable Prices First, let me start with the service… not only was our waiter patient, helpful and kind, but the whole staff acted in concert to ensure a pleasant dining experience. Seriously, this is a total rarity for the Beach and not to be under estimated. Everything arrived hot and fresh, but more importantly, the waiter cleared our table as soon as we were done eating, was very polite as we lingered and the staff’s service continued until we walked out the door. Stellar! We had the Tacontento platter for 3, which really is a meal for 3 people and filled with Steak, Chicken, Pork loan, Chorizo and a seasoned pork loan, plus tasty flautas, melted cheese and guac along with a bottomless basket of their Central American style tortillas. We also added on some rice and refried beans to the order. Overall, it was a stuffer of a meal for about $ 10 per person. We ordered a chicken quesadilla appetizer for one of our party who didn’t eat pork and it was a little small for the price, but tasty. They also serve giant portions of soup(which I didn’t get to taste). Overall I highly reccomend Tacontento for good eats with friends!

This little section of Lincoln Lane keeps getting better with Tacontento being the newest arrival. Bright and colorful, the décor eschews the dominant South Beach white on white aesthetic for something distinctly casual and festive. Rawhide stools, punched-tin lanterns, and even the coil-bound menus add to the the authentic experience. The food is all super-fresh and it’s a great place to share multiple entrees. I had the guacamole which was simple and flavorful, and the tacos al pastor which were tender and tasty. With your tacos they bring out a board of ramekins with different salsa, pico de gallo, cilantro and limes so you can dress them to you liking. I enjoyed the margaritas but the sangria was a bit sweet for my taste. There is a great open air bar that faces the patio but the stools aren’t high enough to comfortably sit and enjoy your drink. I hope they’ll replace those quickly.

I’m a huge mexican food lover and that also means I am very picky about any so-called mexican dish I get. This place is a chain mexican food restaurant that was started in Guatemala. What I ordered: Chicken Nachos, Churrasco Tacos, and Chicken tacos. All were excellent. I love that they give you all the extras individually so you can choose what you put on your tacos. The only downside is that they need something a tad bit spicier but our waiter told us they are currently working on that. The steak(churrasco) tacos were amazing because the meat was amazing. The tortillas were really good and trust me I’ve had all different kinds of tortillas in my life. Drinks: I had an Horchata it was really good. I especially loved how they added cinnamon to it. Margaritas: I had a frozen margrarita even though I usually only drink them on the rocks. I was pleasantly surprised and I loved it. Our waiter was very nice and always checked up on us. At the end of the night a man who seemed like the manager asked us if everything was great. Comparisons: Tacos were way better than Lime’s. Or maybe the way lime tacos used to be when they first opened. My hope is that the quality of the food at tacontento remains the same. I loved the decorations, the mix of trendy lights with the mix of traditional guatemalan frills.

Walking inside Tacontento, the first thing I could think to exclaim was«Piñatas!!!». Very colorful, lots of huge piñatas, bright tables and walls. Once inside, my reaction was to walk to the counter and order. No, wait, it’s a sit-down restaurant, not a taco shop like I first assumed. Not sure if they need a host up front to quell that thought. I ordered the Chicharron de Queso, shrimp tacos, tacos al pastor(adobe marinated pork), a glass of sangria and a margarita. Bill came out to $ 60 including tip, so it’s not on the super cheap side. Win: The drinks. Possibly the best margarita I’ve had. Fail: Chicharron de queso was basically(to me) a large piece of fried cheese. While it tasted good, I wouldn’t pay $ 7 for it. After you order your tacos, you’re presented with a tray of several ingredients. Tacos here are served«naked». You get about four tortillas with just the meat of choice on top. You’re free to use the ingredients to make your own masterpiece(or order others — guacamole costs extra) People that will enjoy Tacontento most are those that are creative and can dig the whole make-your-own-taco thing. I’m not very creative so I think I didn’t have as much fun, but I can at least admit that they do their meat very well. They also have a platter option where you get an assortment of meats and ingredients that can be shared with 2 – 3 people. I think that sounds pretty fun and not something I’ve seen done at other places. Comparatively: — More expensive than Lime(my shrimp tacos were $ 13), but cheaper than Mercadito(probably $ 15 for the same thing). Tacos al pastor were $ 9. — Better meats than Lime, but you dictate how great your tacos will be through your choice of ingredients. Overall, I think Tacontento has great potential. Service was extremely attentive(mind you, I came a few days after opening), drinks were very tasty. I think I’ll come back with a group of people to partake in a fun platter session. Also note — tip is included on the bill. Gotta love South Beach.
