Falafel sandwich was awesome!.. falafel was crispy and definitely hit the spot. I didn’t care too much about the yogurt in the sandwich, made the pita a bit soggy. I would defenitely go there again… the staff was really friendly.

This place used to be fantastic and now the food is just plain not good. Cheap ingredients, smaller portions, all around disappointing.

Hmm… no. Why? 1.) The fellow behind the counter mispronounced ‘gyro.’ Strike One. 2.) The hummus was served in a container the size of my fist. It was $ 5. Strike Two. 3.) After paying, in cash, more than the amount owed, the fellow behind the counter kept the change. Strike Three. 4.) There was no a/c in the restaurant. It was sweltering inside. As proof of this, sweat dripped off the face of the fellow who made my food. This sweat, most likely, made my way into something I ate. I’m now gagging at the thought. Strike Four. 5.) I only stayed in the restaurant and endured all the above foolishness because I was starved for food and my feet were swollen from walking the streets of South Beach in search of good food, to-go, that I could get quickly. What a concept, right? So’s I goes through the perils of Pauline, get home and discover… my gyro is a steak sandwich. Yes, I came to VG expecting lamb. I bit into my food to taste beef. Cow. Unquestionably, I was eating beef. The taste. The texture. The turmoil to my stomach. Beef. Steak. Things that go ‘moo.‘ Not.pleased.

As odd as this sounds, take it for what’s it’s worth. This is my favorite place I’ve found thus far on the beach for gyros. Why? They taste flame broiled. Burger King style. Surprisingly, I don’t mean this as a slam against the place. It’s quite delicious.

Of course what we all do when we are drunk and leaving a club, I came with a friend to find a place to eat and conviniently it was right next door to the club we were at. First and foremost(I don’t eat after drink) causes an upset stomach BUTANYWAYS after being forced to come here, I was reluctant cause I thought it was just an over-priced mini-restaurant but came to realize it wasn’t. From what I remember(i was drunk) this place is Gyro Pita place I believe, I know it has something to do with Mediterranean food. My friend and I ordered a Gyro Pita steak and it was good, I didn’t take a picture sorry. The guy that was taking care of us was really cool he was from Bahrain I believe. He was very attentive and sat there and talked to us while the food was being made. The restaurant it looks small from the outside but it’s actually extended all the way to the back as well. The place looks well maintained and I believe they have hookah for you to sit and smoke. Other than that boys & girls I would recommend this place after a long night of drinking when the munchies start kicking in. Decent place the prices are good as well.

This place is great. The humus is a must have, so freaking good. I had half of the chicken … sandwich and half of the gyro. Both were really good, the chicken had the best flavor and you must try the hot sauce, I was expecting a bottle of Sriracha but the have their own homemade sauce that is perfect in every way. A must try if you’re in the area.

The best thing about this place is that I’m pretty sure I won’t get salmonella, because they made sure to thoroughly overcook the chicken. Everything else about this place was terrible. My friend and I ordered two schwarmas, one beef and one chicken. One of the employees told me that they had no beef left, but suggested I get a «gi-ro» instead, because«that’s the same thing». Are you kidding me?! If you can’t pronounce«gyro», you have no business selling one. And a gyro and a schwarma are not the same thing. So we ended up getting two chicken schwarmas, which were pretty bad. Toppings: mayo, tomato, lettuce, a pickle slice, and optional hot sauce, if that gives you an idea how authentic they were. The chicken was overcooked; if it had any marinade, I couldn’t tell. It is South Beach, so you expect to get ripped off. For $ 18, this place is at least reasonably cheap.

Famished and in a hurry, I thought my luck for finding lunch satisfaction on a whim might be a futile effort. Alas, there in the Washington Ave wilderness, I made a marvelous discovery. Pita Spice! From the outside, there’s little that sets it apart from any other neighboring food shelter. It’s pretty basic with a walk-up counter and seating seems minimal. Are those couches? Yep. But then you walk in and realize they have an amazingly quaint backyard garden with a handful of tables and chairs. A good sign? All of them are occupied. I ordered the chicken skewer sandwich and mostly liked the fact that my chef dude pulled out a freshly marinated skewer and cooked the tender meat to perfection. He also grilled the soft pita. Within the wrap, he added hummus, a pickle spear, lettuce, tomato, and some other accouterments. As I raced home to enjoy my kill, I marveled at the delicious encounter that was about to ensue. I think it took me 2 minutes to finish the sandwich and even hours later, I still loved it. Awesome spot!

Cheap and quick. The gyro was nothing to write home about. The salads were okay, but nothing great. Prices were great, and the service was good.

We got the menu online to order for our office for lunch. Their number was down so I had one of my co-workers go to the shop to make sure it was still open. It was. However, when she got there they were extremely rude to her. Not only did the person at the front not speak english(I get it, it’s south Florida, still the person at the very front taking orders should speak english) but when the owner came out they informed her that they were under new management and had nothing that we ordered. They treated her like she was an idiot for not knowing they got new management a couple days ago. We did not order from here for our lunch and will not in the future.

Their baklava was delish! If your feeling lazy and need a casual bite after sun tanning at the beach you should definitely walk over to this spot. They even have hookahs! :)

I still love this place, but they have changed the presentation of the sandwiches from exploding pita to wrap pita. Still delicious, quick, and fresh… now you can eat them with out losing half the sandwich. The out door patio now has all table and chairs, no longer smooshy couches, but still cool(they have a little couch area inside if you really have your heart set on a couch). Additionally, they have hookah’s now, I don’t remember them having those before.

My son, his dad and I came here this past Sunday after a day at the beach. We were looking for a place to eat that we usually don’t find where we live. With the help from Unilocal we found this place! The place itself is a hole in the wall with a cute little patio in the back. It was really hot so we sat inside and they were kind enough to turn the A/C on for us. The staff is very friendly too which is a plus. What we didn’t know was this place is also a hookah bar lol! My son’s dad ordered the Gyro with pita which was really good. The best Gyro i’ve ever tasted! I ordered the Shawarma with pita and it was delicious! It was very well seasoned and the red spicy sauce they give you with it makes it even better! Both are good portions. Our son who is an extremely picky eater ate out of both our plates and loved it! The pita they use is soft and buttery unlike the ones im used to that are hard. Overall this place is great so check it out when your in town! We will definitely come again!

Middle Eastern: Turkish Falafel sandwich: everything on it except that yogurt stuff — I don’t remember the name of it. The sandwich was very good. I said spice damnit — where was the spice? Nonexistent. Too much good stuff.

I love pita spice I have been coming to this estalishment for years and unfortunately i only patronize it after hours and whenever i go after the club has shut down around 4 or 5 am they are always still open. This morning we stopped by for something to eat. There wasnt much left but i managed to snag some Chicken Kebab and a Falafel. I had everything on it. The Humus was great, All the veggies were just what the Doctor ordered to battle anytime of Hangovers i would have experienced in the a.m. They make other sandwiches and also have Baclava’s. The staff is very patient and well trained to deal with us drunks but always seem to make my trip worthwhile. I recommend anyone who is familiar with greek food which i miss dearly from growing up in England to try out and they will have nothing to regret. There is like a patio inside and one outside.

I picked my «middle eastern restaurant at random»( ) and ended up here, and I was quite happy. The falafels are fresh, tender, and tasty. And they have an array of decent toppings(including chopped jalapenos, red cabbage, and tahini– my choices). My biggest complaint is that they put all of the toppings at the bottom of your pita, rather than on top of the falafels, so that you get a bunch of undressed fried chickpea flour, and then a giant sodden mess waiting for you at the bottom of your pita. It would also be better if they just let you dress it yourself. Still, come here for falafel!(I wouldn’t bother with the other menu items, but I haven’t tried them.)

Pita Spice hits the spot for quick, delicious Greek/Middle Eastern fare. I was craving a gyro the other day, and checked my bookmarks, knowing there were a ton of gyro spots near me. Pita Spice it was! Offering plenty of seating in a backyard patio, as well as a couple tables on Washington, Pita Spice offers made-to-order falafel, gyros, salad, and everything in between. Prices are reasonable, and if it weren’t for the fact that they’re short on menus(so I could take one home and get delivery), they’d be getting 5 stars. I had the lamb gyro, carved from the spit, heated on the grill, and then stuff into a doughy-yet-crisp pita, loaded to the hilt with hummus, tzaziki, babaghanoush, lettuce, tomato, and cucumber. Yum! I also had the appetizer portion of falafel — and the chickpea mix was scooped and fried to order, served with some tasty tahini sauce. All around delicious! Pita Spice is definitely worth a stop, whether you’re craving a gyro for dinner or when you have the late-night alcohol-induced munchies.

A buddy brought me here one night before we went to a party, and the only thing I can say bad about them is they weren’t open when we were leaving. Seems like it would be the perfect place to finish off a night of fun on the beach, if they were open until 3 am.

Pita Spice was the original 6th member of the Spice Girls, till they kicked her out of the group for too much arm pit hair. ;) I kid, I KIDD ! Tiny greasy spoon of a pita joint. I like it though. It’s a good alternative when you need something quick and easy. Often times you’ll be able to catch some European soccer on the tube in the back dinning area. Pita Spice, you get an extra star for that!

I liked my Middle Eastern style gyro here(it wasn’t really a shawarma or otherwise the dough would be thinner). It was affordable, tasty, filling, and well… I wolved it down! It’s definitely a hole-in-the-wall, with plenty of seating in the back. I definitely wouldn’t mind coming back when I’m in South Beach, for Middle Eastern fare.
