I want to preface this post that I fly for living in my business. I just went to the Bahamas and paid $ 75 dollars for an over weight bag by 4 pounds and 4 days later, still no bag! I have 2 daughters and my wife traveling with me and as of this post there items are still missing.
Bahamas Air won’t answer there phone and when I do get ahold of a voice, it’s never there issue! When it comes to choosing an airline, this is one to avoid! Worst customer service I have ever seen in over 20 years of travel.

The absolute worst customer service imaginable. Our 11:25 flight did not leave until 3:00 causing us to have to rebook connecting flights with up charges. Staff kept lying that the plane had left Nassau for Marsh Harbor — we checkef flight aware and could see it had not left. They left our suitcases outside and when a thunderstorm threatened we asked them to please move the loaded luggage cart to shelter. Instead, they covered it with a tarp — which blew off during the downpour and when we pointed it out to them, they SAUNTERED around looking for a rain coat that «fit» before going out to reposition the tarp. Soaked luggage. I WILL NEVER fly them. Would not give them even one star but could not post this without a star rating.

Sat in plane to 2hours. Supposedly waiting for a «fax». Worst airline ever, DO NOT FLY ON THIS AIRLINE!

Please, please read reviews before booking! The worse flight experience in 50 years of worldwide travel! Delays, rude staff, no explanations, still trying to get answers 2 months later with no responses! 3 hour delay from Ft. Lauderdale to Freeport, ruined our plans for the day, no apology. When we called the airline to find out details of the delayed flight, they laughed at us! Unbelievable. Write to the Ministry of Tourism, they need to know about this!

I have flown Bahamasair dozens of times. I hope this is my last. 2 flights in 2 days, 1 late (4 hours) and today to Miami, late, THEN cancelled. All the other airlines here have left on time, American, JetBlue, USAir.
A terrible welcome and departure from the Bahamas. There is no reason for this consistent unreliability.

I had the worse experience with Bahamas air this past weekend and I thought it was only fitting that I share my concerns with your company. Me and my boyfriend was due to leave Fort Lauderdale heading to Nassau on ⁰⁵⁄₀₉ on the 5:25flight, the flight was delayed by 25mins due to a customer trying to fly out with a dog or some other customer service issue. Once they removed the passenger from the flight we were able to leave, the flight crew apologized for the inconvenience and we left.
Once we got to Nassau we had transportation thru a private company that we missed because they were there on the time of the flight arrival and left so we had to wait a hour for another shuttle bus. Monday morning the shuttle but was late picking us up from the hotel to take us to the airport.
Once we did arrive to the airport, tried checking in the agent advised us @ 10am that we were too late for the flight, then advised us that we had to pay $ 200 ($ 100per person) to take a later flight, of course I was taken aback because, we didn’t feel that it was a justified reason for a charge fee, not only that that flight left late as well (we could have made the flight). There were less than 15pp in customs went and checked, even the TSA agent made the comment that if they are holding the flight for you, you would have been able to get thru faster. Seems as though your airline has a history of not leaving on time.
After speaking with the customer service agent who was very rude and very short, and in my opinion the worse representation for you company that you could have ever had on the phone holding the title of a customer service agent. Being that the person I was speaking with was a waste of time and advised me to go to the transportation company and have them pay the fee being that they were late in picking us up, I then asked to speak to customer service agent manger (another employee that needs customer service training) I was told that they would have me detained in US customs, in order for me to make arraignments to pay they change fee of 200 $ if I didn’t have the means to pay the fee. My question is who does that? were they trained in such a way? I have spoken to several people and even your own employees stated that it was uncalled for and it is up to the managers discretion to waive the fee if need be. The so called manager told me that she would check with someone else (supposedly upper management were on a conference call) and they would call the counter back, we sat there for over an hour and they never called back. (if you are a customer based business then you should at least respond truthfully to the customers), we paid the fee and ended up on the 345pm flight back to fort Lauderdale, and get this that flight too was late it didn’t close the doors until 410pm, why because they were waiting ONE passenger !!
So ma’am/Sir that was the definitive cause as to why I would never refer your airline to anyone to fly ! Your services are beneath acceptable and I all the plans that we have for future travel with your airline is canceled. Every blog I can find that will allow me to discourage anyone from traveling with your airline will most defiantly be posted and shared. For your company to brag on their level of customer service, it seems only fitting that you know that the services I received as a first impression with your airline and your island was enough for me to say I would NEVER ever fly your airline again and for that matter visit your island.

I have flown them several times and yes the planes are always late, even the first one in the morning. But the staff has always been super nice and accommodating. If we leave on time next 2 trips (round trip duh!) and the service is as good as always I will add the 5^th star.
I can’t wait for Bahamasair to get one of these bad boys! No need to climb to altitude!

Your fellow Unilocalers are not exaggerating. We took a flight out to the Bahamas a day after they reopened after Sandy shut down air service (thanks b*tch). The entire population of Cuba was in line for the counter, and they were all shipping big screen TVs. Can someone tell me WHY. I managed to cut in line since I wasn’t shipping a big screen TV, but it didn’t matter anyway because once at the gate, we had to wait awhile longer for everyone else who was in the line to get on over to the gate. I think we were on a plane that stopped over at Nassau on its way to Cuba…
It is true, this airline is ALWAYS late. But we were on our trip to paradise, so we weren’t in no hurry. «No pro’lem.» Just roll with the punches and they’ll get you there eventually. The airport in Nassau is brand new and very nice. The cab fare to downtown is a little pricey, but theres no other way to get there unless you really like walking. Bahamas is movin’ on up! I love that place.
On our way back we took a smaller plane which was a lot louder. The obnoxious hum served as my lullaby for my one-​hour nap back to the states. I wouldn’t say Bahamasair is the most reliable, cleanest, organized, friendliest airline, but it was the cheapest. That being said, if you care about your sanity, skip it.

This airline is the worst. Always late. Always sloppy, slow and dysfunctional. I can’t believe I trust these incompetent people with my life. They show no regard for your inconvenience. You stand in line for hours at check in because they are so behind the times. Even if you only have a carry on bag you still have to wait in line to check in behind a bunch of bohemians with their entire life in 10 big duffle bags full of American goods to bring back to the Bahamas to sell. Not worth the time. Go to cabo instead. I give one star, only because it won’t let you have zero stars

I would like to express my great disappointment in Bahamasair. We took a Flight to Nassau on Thursday from the Miami International Airport and had to wait in line for over 2 hours just to be able to get our baggage checked, they delayed the flight, and we arrived at our destination late.
Our returning flight on Sunday (Nassau to Miami) had the same issues. We waited in line another 2 hours before an attendant was able to help us, our flight was again delayed, and our family members waited in the airport for hours before we arrived.
I don’t know what Bahamasair prides itself in but it definitely is not customer service, as it is the worst that we ever experienced. This was also not just a matter of luck either, the immigration attendants even told us that this happens on a daily basis. This will definitely not help them generate more business if every person is as dissatisfied with the quality of service provided. It gives a bad name to the entire Bahamas and we will definitely think twice before visiting there again and never plan on using this airline again. The way they treat their customers is inhumane.

I flew Bahamasair from Miami International Airport to Nassau on a recent trip. This was my first time on Bahamasair, in all it was’t he best experience.
The Positives:
**They generally use the G gates at Miami Airport which are not crowded and the security lines are shorter than the security screening for most of the other gates at this airport.
**They fly full-​sized planes (737s), so you’re not crammed into a small regional plane with 1 seat on each side of the aisle (as is the case with Continental from Ft. Lauderdale to the Bahamas) or a twin prop (as is the case with American from Miami to the Bahamas)
**There is lots of space between each row of seats, and you can really stretch your legs in these planes!
**All of their staff from check-​in to boarding to the flight crew were all friendly.
The Negatives:
**No self-​service kiosks for check-​in at the airport, and did not see online check-​in on their website.
**Check-​in line at the ticket counter moves very slowly
**Overhead bins are small, so some carry on baggage which would fit in the overhead bins of most every other airline must be checked in at the ticket counter.
**This airline uses G gates at Miami International, which are old and tired looking with low ceilings and lots of things that need attention.
**The 737 I was on looked like an old plane that was once used by a major airline, then was purchased by Bahamasair. It was beaten up in some areas, one of the «Emergency Exit» signs was painted/​stenciled on, and another was labeled with a «P-​Touch» label. Several random seats had been re-​upholstered with denim (blue jean) fabric.
**The flight I was on was more than 45 minutes late taking off, and no one, crew or passengers, seemed particularly bothered or surprised. A few passengers I was sitting near in the terminal explained that this flight to Nassau from Miami is rarely on time.
In all, if you don’t mind arriving to your destination late and flying on a plane that’s old and tired looking, this airline is adequate. However, with check in lines that barely move and constant late departures, I’d think twice before taking this airline again.
