This place has the nicest people on earth, servers was really friendly, polite in taking my orders and always wear a smile. They are also very passionate of their job and care so much about the welfare of their clients, I was very impressed with my experience here. Though the food is just the average food that you can get in any restaurant but the service they rendered captures my heart.

Staffs are beautiful and was really friendly, very mindful of their jobs and meticulous in every details and instructions. They knew everything I asked. Ive been to many Puerto Rican restaurants but this one stands out from them all. I ordered the most delicious Shrimp Mofongo on earth. This place serves the best Shrimp Mofongo, best so far, of all I’ve ever been to.

Best mofongo in Miami Been there a few times and the food is really authentic Puerto Rican cuisine. The restaurant is family owned and the service is pretty good. Both times I was there the restaurant was fairly empty even with the old school live music. But what I came here for was the food and the mofongo was amazing! Had the traditional w/pork but on another visit had the mofongo«Marinero» and wow that’s the go to dish if you like seafood. All in all I really recommend this place for the food. *a bit pricey for the type of food.(A couple with dinner, apps, beers, no dessert, can easily hit the $ 100 mark)

This is probably one of the worst experience I’ve had with customer service in my life. I have celiac, and I called the restaurant to see if they had any gluten-free options for me so that I do not get POISONED by eating at their establishment. Someone who clearly doesn’t speak fluent English answered and tried to get me to reserve a table. I explained that I had celiac and I needed to ask if there were gluten-free options on the menu, and if their staff knew proper food handling procedures. Obviously, I’ve been burned before & I’m willing to do what it takes to protect myself, which unfortunately involves asking these kinds of questions A LOT. So, Spanish-speaking lady goes and gets another Spanish-speaking lady, and as I again try to explain my concerns to her, she cuts me off with a spiel of Spanish and hangs up while I’m mid-sentence. Beyond rude. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone based solely on their attitude– especially not to anyone who needs accommodations.

By far the best mofongo in the world. Period. Every since I ate here, I will not eat any mofongo anywhere. Every time I come into town, I go to Benny’s. Bacalaitos and the classic mofongo con carne frita is my thing. Pour some of that awesome homemade hot sauce in there and you’ll be asking to spend the night. Everything on their menu is good ol’ fashioned comida de pobre just like mom used to make. They even have cuajito! Marta, one of the waitresses, is always pleasant and very helpful. The place is big, décor is something out of an old school center plaza in Ponce. I love it.

Foodies beware, stay away I do not recommend. I was there for take out service because my Puerto Rican wife wanted some Mofongo and we knew this restaurant from its old location on 107ave and Coral Way. Boy was I surprised and let down. The food was less then mediocre and was real boarding on bad. The order was messed up, and was overcharged for items not ordered. Definitely will not recommend stay away

Benny’s always delivers with their mofongo. They know how to serve it in true Puerto Rican style. The plantain is moist and full of flavor. You have to get a side of arroz con gandules and their cod fritters. The new location is open and there never seems to be a wait.

The 3 of us enjoyed excellent an dinner here. Good sangria and lovely live music. I thought the mofongo with carne Frita was very good! Loved the tostones with garlic! Our waiter was very good. No complaints, we would come again!

My favorite place for Mofongo! I used to go to the 107thAV& Coral Way location but this was my first time to the NW2nd street location. It’s about 5x bigger & the parking is so much better! The Mofongo was better than ever. I had the one with conch. The conch was soft, succulent & very flavorful. This new location is further for me but not as far as I thought it would be. I’ll be coming back more often!

Please it’s beautiful and clean.!looks just like old San Juan in Puerto Rico. Servers are friendly and efficient. The place want terribly busy. We ordered a sampler for appetizer. Arañaras were not crunchy, bacalaitos flavorful but soggy, alcapurrias & guineitos en escabeche delicious. The mofongo was really good. Price point was reasonable. We were broken hearted to learn they do not sell medalla beer anymore.

Place is empty. Drove an hour for«Puerto Rican» food, specifically some Mofongo, but their Mofongo was horrible. To add insult to injury, their prices were very high for what you get. Wouldn’t recommend this place.

Going back and forth between a 3 and 4 star rating. I give the mofongos a solid 4 out of 5, as well as the flan cocho. It’s not really my scene though and the ambiance was W.e. The experience was nice but nothing over the top. Service was good, a bit slow at times… I really dislike waiting to pay the check! Pet peeve of mine… I came on a Sunday for lunch… the restaurant wasn’t too busy and the food came out rather slow. –Mofongo con Langosta al Ajillo(Mofongo with Lobster* /Sauté in garlic & butter): Could have had more lobster, but the mofongo had awesome garlic flavor. –Mofongo con carne frita(chicken meat) — The mofongo is seasoned beautifully. Strong garlic flavor and overall super easy enjoyable to eat. The fried chicken meat is savory, juicy, and full of flavor. –Majarete de maíz y coco /Coconut & corn meal custard: I ordered this one because it sounded interesting, but it wasn’t really that good. Wouldn’t recommend it. –Flan-cocho de vainilla y queso /Vanilla & cheese custard cake: This is where it’s at for dessert. Perfect for the sweet tooth satisfaction. On a more disturbing note, I went to the bathroom and there was an employee who went in and didn’t wash his hands… he worked in the kitchen…

Traveling from Key West where we celebrate an anniversary. Drove to 82nd Avenue to new location. It is 1PM Sunday. The waiter was friendly, attentive, and patience. At the end, he did, what my wife called, kind and thoughtful. Excellent. Drinks were very good. I enjoyed the lemonade. Cod(bacalao) fritters appetizer was good after patting it down to remove a little grease. Very good. The main entrée was two different Mofongos option from the menu. One with garlic base«sauce» and one with Salsa Criolla for an extra $ 1.00. The dish is served with served in a wooden mortar and complemented with a cup of chicken consommé. Between my wife and I, we found one piece pork rinds(chicharrón de cerdo). I did not find garlic within my plantain(plátano) mash. This dish was good, but not on the same level as the best I have ordered. Maybe it was a bad day, but I do not plan another six hour trip anytime soon. Base this on food; otherwise, it was an excellent experience.

The restaurant looks good but has a lot of room for improvement. The bacalaitos were soggy(no crunchiness). The mofongo was ok but not exceptional. I could not taste the ajillo at all. The chicken chunks had no flavor the rice was hard and the beans were flavorless. The only thing they aced was the service. The bill was too high for the quality of the food. I would have expected better.

On my first visit a couple of weeks ago, My mofongo with carne Frita was delicious & so was the pastel that I ordered. My son had the fish with an order of arañitas too that were fabulous, just like mom’s! Yummy! Unfortunately though, I went back tonight @ 9:45 pm & as so as I walked in, I was told they were CLOSED, although it states on Unilocal that they are OPEN until 11 pm. What a disappointment! I was so looking forward to eating MOFONGO tonight.

This is a new location for Benny’s. Benny’s has been around in Miami for a long time. The new place is nice, the old place not so much; hence the much needed change. It is very big though, and kind of depressing at the same time. There is no ambiance, no background music. This is a lost opportunity in my opinion, considering the vast variety available of Puerto Rican music, to showcase the rich music from Puerto Rico; whether it is the classic danzas, trio music, salsa, or hits by Willie Colon to Marc Anthony… really? Lighting is key to creating ambiance. Lighting here is all wrong and makes the dining space appear dingy, dark, & depressing. The food here is good. They are known for their Mofongo, but it is HIGHLY over priced. This is Puerto Rican soul food. This is «made at home food» most Puerto Ricans grow up on. This is not Haute Cuisine people! Even though, some dishes require a lot of preparation. I recently was craving Mofongo with carne frita, so we had a late lunch-early dinner at Benny’s on a Sunday afternoon; My wife, daughter, and my two elderly in-laws(that eat like birds), ate $ 180??? My in-laws even shared a plate. Their Mofongo is nearly $ 20 for the large size. The food is not bad, just expensive; very expensive. The service is OK, an improvement from being mediocre at the previous location. Food quality, service, setting, and value for money are important to me. I just had Mofongo with carne frita @ Casa Borinquen up on Palm Ave. in Pembroke Pines, & paid $ 40 for lunch, FOR3!!! The Mofongo was excellent and the carne frita wasn’t tough. This is a cafeteria though, not a restaurant. TO me though, the value for money and the quality of food, make it score higher in my book. I’m sorry for Benny’s. The new place is really nice, but I’ve been there a couple of times, the place is huge, and I don’t believe I’ve seen more than 5 tables occupied at one time; whether it was during the week or an a weekend. There is a reason for this; it doesn’t happen by accident. Something is keeping the hoards of Puerto Rican food loving individuals in Miami at bay. This place has been around for a long time. They were featured by Guy Fieri on his show Tripple D, and yet this place always seems to struggle. They don’t seems to have a cohesion of elements for success, rather they have a few elements… and they seem scattered. BTW, the only time I’ve seen the owner, Benny, was on Guy’s show. Maybe this is a tell tale! This place has been consistently underwhelming to me over the years. Puerto Rican places in Miami are few and far in between. They don’t seem to «get it right» where they become successful, known, and established. We need a «Melao» like the one in Kissimmee down here! Please come!

Came for lunch and now I need a nap! I had the mofongo with chicken chunks followed by majarete(dessert). The mofongo brought me back to my youth. The garlic was there and not overwhelming. Perfectly seasoned with the broth to moisten when needed. The fried chicken chunks were far from greasy but very tender. You can’t go wrong with mofongo and any available topping(beef, pork chunks, chicken chunks, shrimp, lobster) or solo. The majarete(corn custard) was nice. Not old school but the flavor profile was there. I enjoyed it. Atmosphere is great. Service is great. A nice place for Puerto Rican cuisine. I’m looking forward to visiting on a Friday evening to also hear some live Latin Jazz … two thumbs up!

Lobster mofongo wasn’t very moist(the plantain portion). I love love love plantains but their fried ripe plantains left a lot to be desired. I didn’t even eat them all, and that’s a first for me. Lobster was well prepared. Overall just OK. I came on a Sunday late night, so I wonder if it would have been better on a busier night. My next stop just needs to be San Juan for mofongo and Don Q rum!

Visiting from out of town and decided to do the cheesy tourist Diners, Drive in and Dives thing. First, the address on food network is wrong. That place is closed. They moved to another location. We came on a saturday night and had no problem getting a table. parking is ample. Tried the DDD item, mofungo — one with fried pork one with shrimp. Never had this dish before or knew anything about it. Service was excellent! As I said in my photo I posted, the live entertainment was a treat and made everyone there feel as if we were all family having sunday dinner together. Authentic, real, warm, friendly, helpful, patient and thoughtful. Definitely something to check out at the very least!

Very disappointed tonight after we called and were told to come over to the restaurant, the host(the same one that admit to take the call and tell us to come) btw it took us just 6min to get there after the call; decides he didnt want to serve us! I think this is really bad customer service and extremely unprofessional!!! I will not recommend this rest or its service!

I love this place. Their food also. Wish they would open on Mondays. This is one of the fee places I could take someone from work for lunch and feel proud about it. Their appetizers list is very long and good. I have been here to have just appetizers. Their mofongo is outstanding. And so is their chicken. And that’s me not being to fan of chicken. They have a water fountain in the middle of their establishment and I find it very relaxing. No wonder I’m a regular. Wait… a duke.

Being surrounded by Latin cultures in Miami– or mainly Cubans– I was craving something other than arroz y frijoles. My Puerto Rican friend posted a picture of their mofongo & I just had to try it. It definitely did not disappoint! This location is their newer one & is quite large– so large in fact it at times feels empty– nothing that would stop me from going. As regards service, you must ask for Roberto– he will treat you as you are dining in his own home. I’ve gone several times and he already knows me and always provides stellar service. There is a lot to choose from and they have very reasonable prices so you can try a little bit of everything and not spend a fortune. Their pionono is amazing & a must have. It is ground beef wrapped with sweet plantain and fried. It is the perfect combination of sweet and savory. Every time I go I get the mofongo. I’ve had it with pork and chicken and both are equally amazing. Fried yet very moist and never dry. What I love about their mofongo is that they serve it with a side of broth to moisten to your liking, and they also add pieces of chicharones which some other places don’t do. They serve great desserts– the tembleque & flancocho are two great ones to try, and their flan isn’t like the Cuban version, it’s much creamier. All in all, if you’re looking for an alternative to the regular Cuban food that is on every corner in Miami, head to Benny’s for some great food & stellar service!
