The food was definitely worth the trip. The food came out quickly! I had the Chicken Parm and it was good. A friend had the oxtail and I will definitely be back for that one! Everything was nicely seasoned. No bland food here. The restaurant is in a vacant motel so try not to pass it. The staff was really nice, which I appreciate. The place was a little noisey, but other than that, no complaints here.

Excellent food, excellent service, but not the greatest location. Blue collar is located right next to a creepy motel. You wouldn’t know that it was even there. It’s quite small, therefore call in advance if your planning on dining there for brunch or dinner. I love their shrimp and grits. Oh and their short ribs…

Came here for Sunday brunch… The place is extremely small so it was evident that given the reviews the wait would take FOREVER. The only bad thing is that there is no seating outside while you wait so you are forced to stand. When we finally sat down, the server greeted us immediately. I ordered the duck sunny side eggs. Let’s just say, I cleaned the entire plate. The manager(or owner) of the place kept checking up on us to see if everything was ok. But he was hilarious! Made jokes every time he came to our table which made the experience worthwhile. Overall I give this place 4 stars only because of the uncomfortable waiting but everything else was to die for.

I came here for brunch this morning. I was shocked to find it inside a creepy partially renovated motel. The food is amazing, especially the grits and cheese. My pulled pork eggs Benedict was to die for and the coffee for some reason was exceptionally yummy(I kept wanting more). The lemon pancakes were put of this world and the breakfast Chipotle burrito was great also. We loved it and we will be back for more. Yes the prices are somewhat overpriced… but it’s soooo worth it. Trust me !!

The food is pretty great here, it’s quite small inside with limited outdoor seating so I usually Call in advance to see how the availability is. I came once for brunch and it was late for brunch as I wasn’t aware of the hours but they where still accommodating and took us after the time they should of allowed. The pork and beans is a great dish that I’ve had here definitely try it you won’t regret!

This place is really good. It is very small inside, so get there early. There is also limited outside sitting and the parking is also limited. Don’t let any of this discourage you from coming here. This is definitely a place you must try. The food dishes they make are very flavorful. They are not afraid of spices so get ready for your taste buds to go crazy happy. I had the Big Ragout, which was delicious and humongous! I’m definitely going back again sometime to have this or something else.

Really enjoyed our dinner at blue collar. I have been following them on Instagram and drooling over their pictures for a while. It was Memorial Day and it wouldn’t be complete for me without a burger so we decided to try blue collar’s. Food — 3.5 stars –was all pretty tasty. We started with fried Gouda(as good as it sounds! how can you go wrong), conch fritters(good but spicier than expecting-my son spit them out), and spaghetti squash(for the little one who loved it). The burger was delicious but I am definitely a burger snob. It was a very traditional burger but nothing stand out. Fries were A+. My husband has the special braised oxtail which he enjoyed. It was nice and hearty. Service — 5 stars! My son was pretty fussy, throwing things in the floor and whining because he wanted to walk around. Not only was everyone totally understanding but they were so sweet. They brought him apple sauce, let him use their pen to color, and were waving to him the whole time. Can not praise the staff enough. Was definitely put off by the location. It was connected to what I can only describe as a motel where bad bad things happen. Once you get inside you would never know but didn’t feel great about it when we pulled up.

Really liked this place. We had a quick brunch here and ate outside. I didn’t even get to see inside the restaurant but the food was really good as was the service. You would never expect to find a place like this in this area. That probably the only thing I didn’t like about it. The brunch was really good. Amazing French toast. And I loved the sausages. Hope to come back again and try a little more of the menu, but over all really good experience.

We originally came here for the pancakes that were advertised on the Unilocal photograph albums, but I was sorely disappointed that there were no pancakes to be found. I got some sweet potato fries, cauliflower curry, and some chicken. The food was quite good, all components working well with each other, but I think I was just sad that there were no pancakes.

Blue Collar continues to be a restaurant with good and attentive service. They now started to take reservations which makes it even better because you use to have to wait about an hour to be seated. It isn’t a big restaurant so this was the best thing they could do. On this time around I saw the owner after a few years! He’s a such a humble and caring person. He showed us a few new menu items and told us about his new seafood restaurant. I can’t wait to try out that restaurant too! When an owner takes time out of their busy schedule to talk to you personally that means a lot to me. Not only did I feel extra special but that’s a good mark left on my heart to continue to come to Blue Collar. The food is so delicious and the money spent is well worth it. By the way, this time I tried the the conch appetizer and had the veal entrée. Once again, I wasn’t let down one bit. The flavor of each was absolutely astounding. Thanks again Blue Collar for a time well spent.

Surprised the BFF with a brunch date here for her birthday. It’s a small location and jam packed when it opens. But! The birthday gods deigned to bless us with an open table as soon as we said«For 2, please!» Larger groups were waiting for the bigger tables to open, hehe. We’d come from The Salty Donut, so we weren’t starving(we had a couple donut holes as we were driving over). Everything we ordered, we shared. Also, parking in the tiny lot beside them was something like $ 2 or $ 4. FOOD + Spaghetti Squash: This was delicious. I loved it. Every time I needed my tastebuds to chill out from our pulled pork benedict, this was the perfect buttery pairing. Would definitely reorder for more face-stuffing. + Waffle Cut Sweet Potato Fries: This was yum, but it wasn’t anything special. I’d prob skip this to stuff my face with something else. + Pulled Pork Benedict: This was soooo good. We split this in half, devoured the eggs, pulled pork and LOVED that it sat on huge blocks of cornbread. Between the 2 of us, we couldn’t even finish the single order. We ended up bagging the rest, although we wanted to keep eating, haha.(To be fair, we also had 6 donuts sitting next to us for our dessert.) Food came fast, service was quick, and everything was noms. Would come again!

Just tried this place. Pleasantly surprised. Did most of the appetizers and 2 – 3 Vegetable sides. Everything was really tasteful and delicious. Portions are sharing sizes so I would totally recommend getting appetizers and small dishes so you have a sample of all of the different tastes available. Also tried the key lime pie, one of the. Best or probably the best I’ve tried. Will totally return. Tried it on a Monday as any other day is overly booked or overly crowded.

Give me a place that has excellent food consistently, and I’m there, no matter how far! Blue Collar is one of those places. I’ve been several times since their opening and I always get excellent service and even better food in a fun, quaint atmosphere. On this particular occasion, we came for a weekday lunch and arrived shortly before 12:30. We snagged the last table inside and were immediately tended to. We ordered the Mac n’ Cheese and Chicken Cordon Bleu Sandwich. No matter how many times I try to venture to other items on the menu, I always come back to this sandwich. The chicken breast is fried to perfection, and topped with prosciutto and manchego cheese. Their food is so good, I don’t even eat the bun because why waste space in my stomach on bread? :)The macaroni and cheese was to die for. If I could have licked the plate without looking like a beast, I would have! They use mustard seed to add flavor to it and boy, it delivers. For dessert, I usually go for the chocolate cake with milk but on this day, I was persuaded to try the heath bar bread pudding by the people seated at the table next to us. The bread pudding was very good however I felt the cayenne pepper overshadowed the flavor of the pudding and left a lingering taste in my mouth. This is just my preference not to have heat and spice in my dessert. As other Unilocalers say, this place gets packed so get there early or be prepared to wait a bit. They now take reservations and even deliver! I’m excited to try their delivery service to my job.

My party of 5 got to blue collar around 11:30 last Sat and we had a 30 min wait. Not ideal, but certainly doable. We were able to watch other people’s entrees come out to help build the anticipation! The pulled pork benedict should not be missed — it was definitely the standout meal. We also had the brioche french toast, brandon’s breakfast, and the smoked salmon benedict. All of these dishes were good too, but not so special. Blue Collar was good and I’m glad to have tried it, but I’m not sure I’d come back.

The vegetables are awesome. The highlights include: house-made french fries(crisp, salty, thick cut), spaghetti squash(perfectly cooked and seasoned), cauliflower purée(simply yummy). My fish was a tiny bit overcooked, but seasoned perfectly. The ribs weren’t quite fall off the bone, but their barbecue sauce was delicious. The crispy chicken breast was perfect. I didn’t have room for dessert, but will certainly make sure to try the bread pudding next time. Make a reservation online so you don’t have to wait a long time for a table, this place is tiny. Also, if you can’t find parking along the street or in the lot in front of the restaurant, you can park at Chase Bank — located at 68th Street and Biscayne(I’m assuming this is only once the bank is closed — after 6:00 pm). The servers are really nice and the staff was wonderful. From making the reservation to asking about parking, the people at Blue Collar want to make sure you have a good experience.

believe the hype. I went 2x the same day. Happily. FINALLY I got to find out for myself. It started with Saturday brunch. They opened at 11 so we waited patiently til then. Got there right around opening time but they were not open quite yet. There was already a line 15 people deep. Two groups(including us) had dogs along(dogs are always a bonus). Its such a tiny little place but it has a great vibe. Service excellent as well. Panther coffee served in old skool thermoses. Adorable way to serve really great brew. I tried the veggie scramble thing — fluffy and full of fresh veggies. Served with side salad and some kind of walnut bread toast. Delicious. My friend had a breakfast sandwich, which was loaded up with a latke, egg, bacon, and something else in there. She subbed her side for the cheese grits. They have a huge list of vegetable side dishes, really great stuff, and you can sub any of them for your side for $ 1 more — pretty dope. The meal was awesome and now I get why its so popular! They just do a really great job making awesome food. We ended up going back for dinner the same night, after a crappy experience up the street. This time I made a meal of 4 veggie sides($ 6 each or 4 for $ 19). I went with the veggie fried rice, grilled artichokes, brussel sprouts, and spaghetti squash. All were delicious. Veggie rice and artichokes particularly amazing. We also had the latkes to start as an app, served with slightly spicy apple sauce. SOGOOD! My friend had the parm-of-the-day, which was portobello. 2 huge caps served with angel hair pasta. huge portions of yummy fresh food. we couldn’t finish any of it. It was awesome. Definitely go if you havent yet. this is one of my new miami favorites for sure.

Refused service from 9 months pregnant wife and myself during open hours We are actually frequent diners and were very excited to come back. My 9 month pregnant wife was met at the door by a manager with long hair. He said they were closed and would not be able to serve us, even though we arrived at 3:05(closing time at restaurant on door and website says 3:30 :/). Needless to say we were very dissappointed and will not be returning. Sometimes its not always about the food, but the way you treat your regular customers. Glen

I have to admit, I’ve had Blue Collar on my «must try» list FOREVER! Like ever and ever, so when Carlos G. started discussing a brunch UYE here I was 110% on board. Now, to be honest I was slightly let down by some of the food, but I was a wee bit hungover, so perhaps my taste buds weren’t 100% sober either lol. But overall, it was a solid experience and I’d happily come back(especially to try dinner). Here’s what you need to know right off the bat — this place is tiny, and brunch is extremely popular here, and no they don’t take reservations for brunch(they do for dinner though!). Because I have amazing friends(Carlos G. and Israel R.) they came to stand in line at 10am(they were first) and ensured our group of 10 didn’t have to wait. When we finally finished our meal at 12:30pm I noted some of the originals in line before they opened were still outside waiting! So yes, get here early, or skip the madness and make dinner reservations. Service was perhaps a tad bit slow, but understandably our group of 10 was a lot to handle. None the less we made the most of it and my hangover appreciated that a water bottle was left at the table so I could refill my own cup. Over the years I’ve noticed the #1 item — the Duck McMuffin, seems to have become less popular and people seem to be trending towards the Pulled Pork Benedict, which was exactly what I ordered. Danny Serfer is well known for his original take on vegetables, so Rob G. and I opted to try the 4 veggie plate as well. After lots of discussion, and help from the server, we chose the — **Cauliflower Purée — good, but not amazing(again, could be the hangover) **Sweet Potato and Plantain Mash — would have liked to get more plantain flavor, but I was impressed with the combo **Brussel Sprouts — I’m a little bit over the brussel sprout fad. I think I make better ones than these lol **Roasted Fennel — myself and most of the table are new to the world of fennel which is exactly why I selected it. LOVED it. Will now be cooking roasted fennel all the time! So back to the — **Pulled Pork Benedict — I’m not one for cornbread, but this dish completely worked. My egg was a little less runny than I would have liked and sadly Veronica J’s wasn’t runny at all. None the less the dish was really tasty. Also will note I wasn’t crazy about the side of potatoes and I wished I had done the side salad instead. I only managed to eat half(again hangover?) but left wishing I was able to eat more. **Mac — I stole a bite of Carlos G’s mac and cheese, again good, but didn’t wow me. So, overall I’m at about 3.5 stars for the food, and maybe 3.5 stars for the service, BUT, I’m totally rounding up for the host/front of the house(I wish I had caught his name). His presence, from getting our table seated, to handling the splitting of the checks at the end was awesome and made the experience that much better. Seriously, this guy deserves a raise!

I had been hearing a lot about this place, all very positive! I finally had a chance to try this morning, but my experience was quite different than what I had heard and read! We had the Duck McMuffin and the Shrimp and Grits. The strips of duck of the McMuffin sat on a «Portuguese muffin»(whatever that meant) were one strip of lean duck meat and 2 strips of 100% duck skin with fat. The meat was very chewy and the skin pieces were just grease. The sunny-side-up duck eggs on top of the meat slices were done with a nice consistency though. The muffin part was quite tough. It was even difficult to cut with my knife. The Duck McMuffin was supposed to have gouda cheese, but I did not see nor taste it. When the wait staff brought the Shrimp and Grits over, it took me a while to recognize it. There were a lot of shrimps with diced thick-cut bacon sitting on a thin bed of a scrambled egg color matter I presumed was grits. It was the grits! This was the first time I could eat grits by cutting a piece out and pick it up with a fork. However, the shrimps did taste good, but the quantity of the shrimp and the diced thick-cut bacon really threw the supposed-to-be-grits matter way off balance. The restaurant was over-hyped but the food was under-whelmed, unfortunately.

This place is amazing. Very vegetarian friendly the staff was friendly and knowledge they also pointed out items that can be modified to be vegetarian. Cute outdoor seating so you can bring the pup. I ate the chocolate cake for dessert and it was spectacular. The cake is rich and fluffy and a good portion to share. I will definitely be back.

Tip: If you have a reservation get there on time and not a minute earlier. We were 15 mins early for an 8:30 pm reservation and had to wait for our table to clear. The food takes a while to come out, over 45 mins so if you are hungry I would snack on something prior to arrival. The food was delectable. I ordered Fried chicken and grits which was good. I’ve included all three of my parties meals just to give you a general idea of what’s on the dinner menu. Con: The space is very cramped. I would expect for the amount of customers that they have they would expand the dining area. They also have no kids menu so beware if you have small children.

We went for brunch on a Saturday. They don’t take reservations for weekend brunch, so there was a bit of a wait. The host told us it was 15 minutes, and he estimated correctly. There’s nothing more frustrating than when you’re hungry and they lowball the wait and you’re stuck waiting twice as long, so that was a relief. We ordered the Mac and cheese and the crispy chicken and got both sweet potato fries and regular fries. We were craving starch, what can we say. The chicken was good but maybe a little under seasoned? The Mac and cheese was incredible though, and we really loved the sweet potato fries. They’re waffle fries, and they’re crispy. You know how sometimes sweet potato fries can be too thick and soggy? Not these. They were perfect. The prices are kind of on the higher side, but you get a lot of food. It’s enough to share with someone, so you really only need to order one entrée for two people. So, sure, it’s $ 18 for French toast, but you’re getting four thick slices of French toast. If you’re like me, two slices is more than enough.

I have found my favorite southern comfort food spot in Miami! Located at a motel on Biscayne Blvd. this small, simple and cool eatery has it all going on! The inside is always packed and you usually need reservations to sit there. The outside area not so much as you can venture yourself on a Sunday eve and get a table. I like to enjoy it with a good friend for long conversations, but if you are a Lone Ranger you can also enjoy it. The service is good and pretty quick, they are always checking if you have water, if you want more beer, but not too invasive so you can take your time. The food is just divine! Their Vaca Frita Tostones is so flavorful and crunchy! Their Shrimp and Grits is just inspiring! You feel like going home and trying to reproduce their magic! At least I did! Their ribs look just amazing, I still have to try them but I always get caught up with their appetizers! They are sooo good and sooo fulfilling! My next time I’m must skip the appetizers and go straight for the entries. If you feel like eating some southern comfort food that is the place to be happy!

OMG. Thank you Unilocal for helping me find this place. It was SOGOOD. Farm to table kinda concept, very generous portions, Friendly and knowledgable staff. Located in an old motor court hotel, we actually drove past it at first. There’s not a ton of signage. It’s pretty low key and small. They do have indoor and outdoor dining. I had the fried chicken breast with Brussel sprouts and fries. It was a huge portion, and I hate that I wasn’t staying in the area– I would have taken half home for later! My dining companion had the lamb shoulder, which I think was one of the specials. He had mashed potatoes and a veggie, all which were delicious! For dessert we split a slice of the homemade chocolate cake. Cutest presentation! They brought it out with a mini bottle of milk! It was the prefect way to end the meal. I thought the wine list was well thought out, and you would certainly be able to find the perfect wine to accompany your meal. GO.(Parking on the side of the motel)

Awesome service and food. We went on a weekday At 3pm so it wasn’t busy. Parked in the lot on the north side of building. We split the ragout sandwich which is multiple meats stewed in a tomato sauce and then shredded. It is put on a sesame roll and topped with mozzarella cheese. It’s served with fresh cut French fries with the skin on them. The bread pudding is amazing. It’s served warm with a side of cayenne pepper whipped cream… all homemade. The pudding has Heath bar in it. The ingredients are fresh. The staff is happy. Indoor and outdoor seating. Cool décor.

Sooooo delicious. I absolutely loved everything. Had brunch with a group of four and split everything. We had shrimp and grits, the duck muffin, Brandon’s breakfast and a veggie plate(roasted beets with goat cheese, artichoke hearts, sweet potato plantain mash and Brussels sprouts) — everything was so so good, cooked to perfection and full of flavor. We completely cleared our plates. Surprisingly the shrimp and grits was the overall favorite from all of us, big perfectly cooked shrimp on top super flavorful, savory, warm grits. The only reason I’m not giving five stars is because I think the food is overpriced. To be fair, I think most food in Miami is overpriced, but it bothers me that a southern diner-inspired joint would cost so much.

After sitting in my bookmarks for years now, I finally got to dine at this place! My friend and I came for lunch and thank goodness, there was no wait. I always hear about the wait for this amazing place and we got lucky. The location shares a lot with this old-abandoned-looking motel so we almost missed it! Tiny little place. I can see why there’s always a wait normally. The parking was on the street next to the motel that clearly indicated it was for Blue Collar Parking. They list their«veggies» and«dailies» on a chalkboard right above the register/kitchen area. Everything on that board sounded amazing but one side definitely caught my eye. Right away, we ordered the Fried Green Tomatoes and Conch Fritters for appetizers to start. Delicious! Definitely coming back for the conch fritters — the sauce was the perfect cherry on top. My friend ordered their mac & cheese as his entrée and I got the Grilled Mahi Mahi with 2 choices of «veggies» off their chalkboard so I went for the Waffle Sweet Potato Fries and Cheese Grits. Oh. My. God. The mahi mahi was cooked to just the right temperature. The BEST sweet potato fries I have ever had. It was cooked and salted to perfection. I think I genuinely miss them now. The cheese grits were great too! Mac & cheese left a really good impression on me too, it wasn’t as heavy as it looked(super cheesy) and it was delish. I definitely need to come back for dinner. Oh! And their brunch! Those sweet potato fries are calling.

My boyfriend and I ventured into the city for brunch on a lazy Sunday on a recent vacation in Miami Beach. We were very excited to try this place after all the rave reviews. When we arrived around noon, there was a group of people waiting outside the restaurant. The restaurant is attached to a small motel and seems a bit out of place with its valet area located central to the motel. We preferred to sit inside, so we put our names down on the wait and decided to wait outside with everyone else because the inside of the restaurant is incredibly small. We were told our wait would be about 30 minutes and luckily our table was ready in about 20 minutes. There were a few names called before ours and I think the patrons know to eat and keep it moving here because of the limited seating. I ordered their specialty iced coffee, which is pretty strong, be warned! They also have thermos of hot coffee available, and if the Miami weather were any cooler, I would have considered ordering one! My boyfriend and I KNEW we had to absolutely order the Mac(Cavatappi, Fontina, Cheddar, Parm Cheeses) because of all the great reviews, but neither of us wanted to eat that as our main, so we made a crazy decision to order that as a starter. It was absolutely worth it! I loved the combination of the three cheeses in the dish, and it arrives at your table as a beautiful masterpiece of white cheesy glory, still piping hot with lots of steam. The Mac is very creamy but not too heavy to handle and it’s definitely worth ordering. Be warned, there are no «small» sides or portions of this, so be ready to go all in! We finished every bite. For my main, I ordered the Shrimp and Grits — Trugole Cheese, Neuske Bacon New Orleans style«BBQ» sauce. There are a few things I liked about this dish and a few things I didn’t like: I liked the fresh shrimp and crawfish, and the bacon was a great added touch. I had trouble wrapping my mind around the New Orleans BBQ sauce at first, but it soon grew on me. I did not like the grits mainly because of the consistency. The grits reminded me more of mushy mashed potatoes than true grits – and as a girl born and raised in Georgia, I should know! The dish is also very salty and pretty greasy. I only picked at the seafood and barely touched my grits, but towards the end of my meal, I could see the grease covering my plate. The boyfriend ordered the Brandon’s Breakfast: Pancakes, French Toast, Bacon, Sausage, Toast, Hash, Fruit Salad, all covered in delicious maple syrup! I knew he would order this the moment I saw it on the menu because a whole bunch of random breakfast food covered in maple syrup is totally his thing. He really enjoyed everything it had to offer and gave a heroic attempt to eat most of the dish. Service here meets the standard but is not extraordinary, I assume it’s because they’re accustomed to getting patrons in and out. This place is good, but overall it wasn’t a wow experience for me, and I wouldn’t jump at the $ 15 roundtrip Über ride to from Miami Beach just to eat here. If I do visit again, I’ll definitely order the Mac and I’ll probably stick with something a little more traditional for my main.

This is one of my favorite places to eat in Miami, and now that I no longer live in Florida, it’s kind of a requirement for me to visit when I’m in town. Their menu has expanded quite a bit from the last time I was there, but you can’t go wrong with the Vaca Frita Tostones, their Mac n Cheese, Veggie Fried Rice, anything on their daily braised list and whatever seafood options they have. Their desserts are also phenomenal, particularly their bread pudding! It’s pretty small and can seat about 50 people, so I wouldn’t suggest having a big group unless you plan it in advance. Either way, it’s a wonderful spot to try in Miami!
