I went there with a big group of friends to celebrate my B’day on Sat, March 19… we did not get anything to eat ’cause the purpose was to «Dance» and boy, did we do a lot of that! The MUSIC was FANTASTIC. both the live band and the DJ were outstanding… what we did not like was the tables still with the tablecloths on and the feeling of a «luxurious wannabe restaurant»… after 11pm, they should dim the lights, take the tables away, and make it more like a pub/club/tavern kind of place… The place was not packed but who cared… we were enough and we had a great time… I hope this place grows and more people go so they can keep the same quality of music… ps. i found service and drinks to be really good :-)

So we get here to eat dinner at 8 pm on a Friday night. We are a very large group and we all sit and they bring us a modified menu not the full menu. We are like okay, it’s Friday night and it’s probably more like a bar right now. Then we order drinks and I ask if I could order my food. The waiter leaves comes back with like 7 items scratched off the menu out of like 12. We had to call the manager because we went to have dinner and half of the food we couldn’t order. The drinks were on the house and we left.

This gringa doesn’t even know how to properly pronounce the word«bodegon,» but that didn’t stop me from getting into the groove at Bodegon de Brickell. I had an absolute blast; it seems I will be a Friday night regular here for the forseeable future. Located inside the Four Ambassadors Building, the new hot spot doesn’t fit neatly into a category. Start with an amazing restaurant, add a healthy pinch of nightclub, glaze with some swanky lounge, and you just might have it. More practically, the place is neither small nor big, but is very open. Tiered levels with tables into the back of the space lend both privacy and focus to the dance floor, DJ booth, and stage down below. An impressive array of lighting and digital media keep you interested while the ample seating allows for maximum comfort. For me and my crew of four others, the night felt effortless. I took my first try at dancing Salsa since my Padawan days in Miami, when I regretfully worked at an unspeakably tacky South Beach latin staple for longer than I’d like to admit. Alas, I had the basic 1−2−3 of salsa down, and turns out that rhythm is incredulously stubborn. With either a sexy Cuban or confident Venezuelan as a partner, I was able to keep up. While the band kept me moving, the bartender kept us sipping. A stiff cocktail or two, a generous sampling of the restaurant’s best dishes, and even complimentary champagne brought Bodegon de Brickell to that place all resto/lounges want to be: memorable. It’s easy to let one little thing or another slide in the hectic world of hospitality, but Bodegon understands it has stiff competition and is up for the challenge. We ended the night eager to discover what more fun there was in store. They are open late night Thursdays — Saturdays and have happy hour till 8pm during the week. Some nights cater to the Salsa and Merengue loving crowd with a live band while others offer musical variety including house and hip-hop. Bodegon, I’ll be back!
