I have been a fan of gastropod for the last 6 years? I remember when they cruised the city in the classic airstream vintage. Amazing. I loved them since. I’m glad they’ve found a permanent location in Wynwood which is so close to home. Pulled pork tacos, mo’betta burger ‘dirty’, and short rib sliders. Everything is always perfect and delicious. I truly admire how flavors remain consistent even after the first try so many years ago. There’s beer next door. So don’t forget to grab a lagunitas IPA or a mini-cocktail to go down with your meal. Sit down on the amazing picnic tables and enjoy the afternoon or evening. This is quality food that won’t break the bank.

Best food I’ve had in Miami. I have a cajun tongue and while the food itself isn’t cajun, I find the flavors really great. Most places I go to Miami, I leave disappointed with the food. So for me this is a great place.

My favorite thing to eat at Gastropod are the ramen noodles. I love ramen noodles, and wherever I can find good, traditional, chewy and fat ramen noodles, that’s where you’ll find me. These noodles are so good, if I was able to buy them from the truck and take them home to cook, I would. The reason why these noodles from Gastropod are so good is because they make the noodles themselves. Daily. In other words, you will not find these ramen noodles anywhere else. That alone is five stars for me. But wait, there is more. So, the little brother to the Cuban sandwich is the Media Noche, which basically means«midnight». It is also ham, swiss cheese and pork, but on a sweet yellow bread. I frequent many Cuban bakeries, supermarkets, restaurants, etc, and to say that one of the best Media Noche sandwiches in Miami are at this truck is no small feat. It hand downs competes head to head with that gourmet sandwich shop in Little Havana. This Media Noche is no joke. Now, the good/bad thing about this truck, which by the way, has been parked in the same location for quite a while, is that the menu changes periodically, even quite often. If you are busy in some other town or area of Miami, you may come back to a new Gastropod menu. That is sometimes annoying. Yet, the good is that everything that I have ever tasted here is delicious. So, considering the innovation plus the availability to taste new things, I still love Gastropod. There is one thing that you need to understand when you come here though. The quality of the ingredients is tops. I am assuming that the only way to remain profitable is by controlling portion size. For that reason, portions here are tapas size. If you are hungry, you may want to double up on your order, unless it’s a burger or fries. For the most part, portions are generous, yet some are small as well. If you consider that these are gourmet tapas, then you may feel at ease spending a bit more than usual. If you don’t care about fresh gourmet ingredients, or about food prepared daily, or about dishes that are only found at five star sit down restaurants, maybe you should only have a picture based app and take pictures of food ONLY, because that is free of charge. But you don’t really want to do that. Maybe bring your date here and have him/her pay for your meal? Bottomline: I love Gastropod. I appreciate chef Jeremiah and his crew. He brings it on everyday. I really have nothing more to say.

Amazing for the price ! Incredibly cheap and incredibly good. It exceeded my expectations. Try the fried chicken and the burger although their menu seems to change a lot… Anyways def recommend.

I love the vibe of the place. The chef has an excellent culinary background that is very diverse and you detect it in his cuisine. Always has great events and great vibes. It’s a 45 min drive from where I live but it’s worth the visit

So I had the double cheeseburger and you can instantly tell that the ingredients are top notch, but for a burger that didn’t have any toppings besides pickles(which I don’t like) then $ 15 dollars for a burger and fries is too much. The fries and the service was good but where is the lettuce, tomatoes, anything else?

Think«cafeteria» but with much more limited items! I wanted to like it, I really did! My reviews are generally very generous, but I’ll be brutally honest here! PROS: It’s edible It’s not smack-dab in the middle of the city Very limited menu, although that could be a «CON» CONS: Small portions of food Not delicious or mind-blowing at all VERY over-priced No air conditioning(it’s Miami!!!) Okay, number one, you are nowhere near as good as a food truck and certainly not affordable but good gimmick. You will eat outdoors, in a front«yard» full of ants on the table in sweltering heat! Think of the food as «tapas» and if you order 3 dishes, the portions MIGHT fill you up! For that price though, you might as well eat at a real restaurant! This place will not last long in my opinion. The service was fine and the people are actually quite nice that run it buuuuuut NOTHANKS! Skip this one and eat somewhere else nearby! I think the owner was thinking of a «get rich quick theme» and I highly doubt this place will be profitable at the rates they charge with a menu that will leave your gastronomy wishes wanting something better…

I couldn’t be more happy that Gastropod’s Wynwood location finally became permanent. They were one of the original successful Miami-based food trucks and I’ve been a big fan since the beginning. We even donated to their kick-starter. Chef Jeremiah Bullfrog is what one might call a local, celebrity chef. He’s known in the foodie community, as he has taken part in several guest chef dinners, as well as Cobaya experiment #2. Oft changing menu has something for everybody. However; my favorite aspect is the pre-pay brunches with chefs such as Brad Kilgore and Travis Grimes of Huck Charleston. I’ve had the pleasure of a few now and will continue to make a point. There’s also cornhole, giant-sized Jenga and it’s pet friendly. On weekends, sometimes live music.

Been to their current setup in wood twice now. First they have great tunes playing jazzy funk and Stevie wonder cute, totally key. The Chicken Sand is slamming 5 mics in the source. I really miss Chic FILA and their take on the classic 2 pickle jawn is bangin. Noodle bowl is a little spicy but still a party in your mouth.

Maybe its the charmingly retro Airstream type trailer, or the way it has of popping up at pretty much every festival type event I find myself at, but I have an affection for this little food wagon(not exactly a foodTRUCK since it’s a trailer :)) As food trucks go, I think this is one of the best. I confess that my wife is a far bigger«mobile food experience» enthusiast than I. I tend to find them a bit under-par for the prices these newer gourmet trucks charge, and often relying a bit too much on oil and funky fusion to get it done. That said, I think gastropod is genuinely good at delivering the experience of innovative and well prepared«Fast-Food-Like» treats that far exceed what you’d get on a burger wagon. The short rib sliders are very tasty, and I like their slaw(which with its red cabbage has a distinct taste). Their«dirty» style dishes are also gut-busting but very tasty. If you run across gastropod, try it – it’ll be a good experience.

While at Bonnaroo, I made sure to stop by and try the GastroPod truck. I was really looking forward to this! I ordered the white corn cake, which was a very fancy arepa. Arepas are ubiquitous at Bonnaroo and seems to be the kid’s food of choice. But this wasn’t your garden variety/food vendor stall greasy arepa. The dough was light and fluffy and had not a bit of grease. The cheese on top was fresh and tasted vaguely of goat cheese. The slaw on top, made of cabbage and carrots, remained crisp despite clearly being soaked a long time in vinegar. That slaw was the jam and they should put it on everything… And look at that! They do!(get out of my head GastroPod) Steve got their Dirty Chips, comprised of potato chips, a paprika based spiced mayo, and that amazing slaw. I wasn’t blown away by this, but for a $ 4 snack at Bonnaroo it’s a pretty good deal. Overall, I liked this truck. So happy I got to try it even though I wasn’t in Miami!

A true guilty(if mobile) pleasure and perhaps my very favorite sandwich in Miami, Chef Jeremiah’s «Gastropod» food truck gets an award for the best, most addictive short rib slider sandwiches I’ve eaten on this earth. I think it is the combination of deeply juicy, tender braised short rib meat, great pickled and acidic slaw, and a potato bun that does it for me, but my tastes of other menu items have all been great, too. I also recently tried Chef Jeremiah’s burger, which blends in some short rib to its patty, too. The burger was so delicious as to not require any ketchup. Strong stuff! Also like the slightly unpredictable, mysterious, and mobile vibe that the Gastropod legend puts forth… where and when can I get to the next food truck round up to get that slider again? What a special place… er, truck.

The guy who took my order is very friendly and the trailer looks really cool since my dad had an airstream when I was a kid So I was really hoping to enjoy the food I had ordered. I had ordered the La Porchetta Cubana duroc pork belly and loin, mojo pickled fennel. I told him I had a porchetta sandwich in Seattle at Salumi and thought it was awesome and he told me he used to live in Seattle and was vary familiar with what I was talking about. Sadly the sandwich was cold nothing was warm other then the bread. It didn’t taste like a cuban sandwich or the Italian porchetta like he said it would. It could have been much better but sorry to say it was a bit disappointing.

Checked out gastroPod for the first time at the Thursday night TTT. The gastroPod«truck» looks more like an old school aluminum camper that you pull behind your car — Awesome! I was torn between the Bánh mì Pork Tacos, and the Short Rib sliders. We ultimately picked the tacos since it was easier to split 2 tacos between 2 people(the sliders come in 3). The tacos were actually pretty large — probably more of a true taco size than the mini tacos prevalent at all of the other trucks. They came double wrapped in corn tortillas and had a great portion of pulled pork inside. The spicy mayo and cilantro were a nice complement to the very tender pork. I added some extra chili sauce and I thought the taco was perfect. Overall I thought that $ 7 was a good price for 2 tacos given that they are larger than Jefe’s, Montaco, etc. The gastroPod chicks were super friendly, and the food was great. I will definitely go camping with them again!

Many moons ago I had been excited about trying this ‘truck’(trailer would be a more appropriate term)…and then after hearing from a few foodie friends that it was more hype than it was worth, I decided that I could hold off while I explored the culinary wonders of the other food trucks. I finally caved last week and while it was good I do have to agree with the hype factor. Lena C. and I shared the tacos and the sliders. Considering that Dim Ssam was right next to them and my aforementioned tacorgasm had been caused by Sakaya’s amazing food truck, their was some *stiff* competition. Sadly, the shiny phallic shaped Gastropod could not deliver another tacorgasm. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great either. Just ho-hum. The sliders on the other hand I did find quite delectable. Soft buns that gave way to some succulent, flavorful short rib meat hit the spot in the most delightful way. Not quite sure if I plan on hitting the Gastropod up any time in the near future, but I can see myself eventually getting back around to it.

First it was Jefe’s as I lost my virginity to this Food Truck, then Latin Burger, as the owner/developer Ingrid Hoffman is super sexy, and I much rather have lost my Food Truck culinary tastes with her then Jefe’s and other things: o) ! But, I had the Gastro Pod burger, all the way, including there secret sauce. It was a succsses. I tasted like a burger, a burger of old, when the whopper was huge, when you could get big buns. Sadly the County inn it’s infinite wisdom is shutting down these food truck locations, under the guise of saftey. Well I remember, riding my Sting Ray bike without a helmet, Pirate’s World(no saftey record there), and swimming without parents around. These trucks did unite people in places, brought out families to picnic, because the prices are cheap. Soon Miami-Dade County will be like the country of Sweden(Yes, you thought they were better then the USA, no! If you you have unprotected consensual sex there, it’s considered rape!) with there arcane laws there! Good luck Gastropod, you’ll need it!

So far this would be my favorite truck. A shiny small round silver truck shaped like a space ship. It reminded me of a car I use to have many years ago that I called my «Silver Bullet». Small, powerful, hot, that you did not mess with. I was at the BTTR last week and my eye’s lit up when I saw this truck. Hubby and I ordered a burger with cheese, thin pickles and special sauce. And also an order of pork sliders. The young lady working was über sweet with such a fantastic personality and very helpful. They were quick to get out our order. We sat on the curb as we drank our beer(brought our own cooler) the only way to do it. We dug into all this delish. The burger was tasty, pickles were to die for and the secret sauce was very good. The burger’s are cooked med rare, so if you do not want it this way ya better tell them. It was pure grease, but a good grease, the flavor of the burger was excellent. After you eat one of these, you better have plenty napkins to clean your entire face. So worth it, every now and than. I made hubby eat it, hee hee because after I tasted the pork sliders, oh nope I did not want to share. An order comes with four sliders, bread is soft and fresh, the pork was moist flavorful and finely shredded. Damn these were so good. Prices are very reasonable. Next time, shoot no wasting my time I will find my «silver bullet» and order some awesome sliders again! Also, they do run out of the short rib sliders quickly so go their first before any other trucks.

Today was the first time I tried GastroPod when the chef was there. I must say… that really damaged my impression. The service was much better with the regular workers. Chef Jeremiah had this weird, kind of I-don’t-care attitude… He seemed very insincere and showed no appreciation for his customers at all. It was almost like he felt he was above what he was doing. I hope this is not the norm. I was very turned off by the lack of customer service skills, and he definitely wasn’t even ¼ as personable as the other truck owners. Just insincere«enjoy“s as his turned his back away. Maybe he was having a bad day or bad moment… I dunno… I just don’t understand my experience today. It makes no sense in light of how good the food is. I really thought there was no way to get this without someone who is passionate about what they do. I have to downgrade to a 3.5. I dunno, but the burger wasn’t what it was the first time either. The meat was high quality and tasty and cooked perfectly – a light crisp on the edges while still kind medium-cooked inside. It could have been that I opted out on the cheese and sauce. I think I will stick to the whole deal with the sauce and all. The sauce must’ve made a bigger difference than I realized. And let me not forget to mention that I had a Groupon-style coupon from Barriocuda and when I took it out, his response was«oh, you have one of those» in this really like«oh, great, there goes my money for the night» kind of tone. I really hope I misread all of this. To add to the experience, the water was 2 bucks. I have no problem with paying for quality and I would’ve paid 9 bucks all day long for the wonderful burger I originally had, but I honestly find $ 2 water insulting. I find it especially so in this setting. Maybe my finding that insulting makes me a jerk, I don’t know… I might think twice about my next visit. More than anything, the attitude turned me off. I hope I just caught him at an off moment or something and this is not the norm

This is the most unique food truck I have tried so far. I really like the chromed-out trailer concept. I’ve tried the following items… Bánh mì Tacos: my current favorite from the pod… Chef Jeremiah REALLY knows what he’s doing when it comes to pork. Nobody should miss this(except those of you who don’t dig pig, sorry). El Chinito Cubano: A recent new item on the menu. Did I mention how well this guy knows his pork? It’s basically a spin on the Cuban sandwich with a nice bit of country ham & some tender pork belly. This is a sandwich worth getting again… maybe times 2. Mo’ Better Burger: I tried this«dirty». It was tasty but there are better patties in town in my opinion. If you try this you might want to dress it up a bit with an egg or something. Old Dirt Dawg: Ok… it’s a hot dog with a few toppings. The cheese was passable but the slaw was really unique and added to the experience for me. One of the cool things about gastroPod is that the menu evolves frequently to include new creations.
