I was supposed to meet with my boss and one of our clients today, so I did not pack lunch, but little did I know that she’d end up cancelling, so I was left without lunch. I decided to do something close to work and opted for Gualt’s, a small little food market in the lobby of the Miami Center(I say«market» because they also sell little gifts, like orchids for mother’s day and baskets for Valentine’s day). I came after the lunch rush, so there were not many items left on the shelves, save for a Caprese salad and a few sandwiches, but I was really wanting a chicken salad. I picked up a tuna sandwich and as I was about to pay, I asked the friendly cashier, «there’s no way I can get something made if it’s not on the shelf, can I?» and she responded, «yes, of course!» so I put the sandwich back and ordered a Balsamica chicken salad. The Balsamica chicken salad($ 7.50), per their website menu, is supposed to contain«Grilled Rosemary chicken breast strips over hearts of romaine lettuce, tomatoes, and fresh mushrooms dressed with balsamic glaze.» Okay, I got mixed greens, not a big deal, perhaps they ran out of romaine, but where are the mushrooms? I have a mushroom fetish so that was a disappointment… not a single one, in addition to the very scarce amount of lettuce. I’m actually still hungry! The chicken was very tasty but it did not seem like a whole breast either. I’ve gotten salads that contained a whole chicken breast and they had 2 – 3 times more chicken than this one. This is a difficult review, only because they went out of their way to make me a salad on the spot, which shows outstanding customer service, so I’d like to give a 4, but the scarce ingredients and the omission of the mushrooms makes me feel like a 4 is too generous. Perhaps if I had gotten the mushrooms and a bit more salad(or at least just a decent amount of mushrooms), I would have given a 4. In order to earn a 5, I feel they should also increase the amount of chicken.

Good little coffee place for those of us who work in Miami Center. Good espresso, and they even made me a ristretto shot, which I’ve only found at my beloved Ni.Do.
