Hippo Bites

Located right next door to the Schnitzel Haus, plenty free parking as they have their own lot. We were invited to a special BBQ outside for friends and family. Hippo Bites has been open for several weeks now as they are doing a soft opening. It was our first time meeting the owner who was so hospitable and friendly. He has turned this lot and soon to be two restaurants into a haven compared to what was at this location before.
In the back of the parking lot he has a commercial grill, seating, fans, lights, and even a small area for children to play. Hippo Bites menu has sandwiches and wraps and he will offer BBQ outside as well. The inside is small, with a counter where you order. I ordered a turkey wrap and it was excellent. The tortilla wrap was fresh, turkey was of very good quality and so were the veggies. Picture a good healthy alternative especially on a typical hot summer day. Quite refreshing. Very casual, fast, perfect for take out as well.
The owner gave us samples of his homemade coconut smoothie, oh my it was delish. It was so hot on this day that the coconut smoothie was just perfect. The BBQ was so good we had chicken, grilled chunks of ham with grilled pineapple and he had some pork and burgers as well.
Nothing fancy, just great food, casual, perfect for taking the kids to hang out and very reasonable prices.
So excited in a few weeks he will also be opening «Buddah Sushi» right next door to Hippo Bites. I did a tour of the inside and it will have the cool sushi boats in the front part and another room will be the dining area with the best Sushi Chef «Michael «creating his master creations. I have followed Michael for sometime and he is unique and creates some of the most spectacular food ever. I have very high hopes for this new restaurant.
Service is excellent at Hippo Bites and prices are very good. Stop in and check it out. Also ask about the BBQ and find out on what day’s they will offer it.
