Horrible service!!! The staff have no idea what is a caramel macchiato, and the Bagles warmed up in a microwave and not toasted ! Nasty

The best thai coconut curry soup. Full of flavor, creamy, tasty and filling. Just delightful. The manager has a cold attitude, but the staff is very friendly

This place is NOTHING like it use to be, 3rd time here in the past few months, bad food, bad service! Use to be my «Go To» place before a flight, NOT anymore! Must not be owned or managed by the same as Miami beach, they should not even share the same name!

Had a small bit of time before a connecting flight — had to decide between having a meal or just getting dessert. Decision was obvious. Plethora of mouth-watering cakes, especially enticing after a long morning, Looking through the options, settled on the Chocolate Delight slice($ 6ish). Decadent layers of chocolate mousse, cheesecake, brownie, and frosting. The mousse and cheesecake blended well together. I did find the frosting around the edges to be a little hard — unlike the creamy interior. Obviously the airport price markup is a drag. Fairly easy decision for dessert if you’re planning to make that your meal.

2÷12÷16: After eating a week’s worth of custom-planned meals made by our private gourmet chef aboard a private yacht, this is not a meal to welcome you back to reality lol After leaving Tortola(EIS)-SJU-MIA…uuuuuuhhhhhh, we are. almost. home… O. o This was the only non-greasy option close to our gate. You just walk up to the refrigerated station, pick your food and pay. There’s seating too. $ 10.50 each for a crappy wrap and salad. Princess Money Tip: I always do this when paying w/a credit card, no matter where I go. I always cross out my name and the last 4 digits of the credit card number. Just extra precaution to help prevent stolen identity. The worker says«ma’am, you can’t do that cuz we won’t get paid». Oh dear lord. Ummmm, yes, you will cuz you already ran my card. It didn’t decline did it? High prices, meh tasting, coupled with a ding-a-ling worker ranks them a 2. Plus, I was swollen with mosquito bites, tired, and probably had little patience for ding dongs that night.

Soup was OK, but not spectacular. Certainly not the quality that they big brave sign claims(one of Oprah’s favs).

Good food. Terrible service. I come here very often so I can say that tables are always dirty, your food stays on the window(ready) until they feel like they should call you to pick it up. They are now warming everything together in the microwave which make some parts extremely hot and others cold. Plus, now they serve everything in to go containers even if you are eating in. Managing and employees take half of the bar space with their laptops.

Always consistently good food at this spot. I’ve had their rotating green bowl, curry chicken, and pulled pork sandwich. All were filling and tasty meals. The price seems a little high, especially considering you don’t even get a bag of chips with your sandwich, but when you just want a good meal between airports, this is a place to visit. The pulled pork sandwich is by far my favorite. Texans, beware: there is no bbq sauce on this sandwich, but it’s a generous portion of meat.

Really good for airport food. Great selection of sandwiches, salads, cakes, cookies and snacks for anyone at MIA International Airport. Located all the way at the end of terminal D, the Icebox location is not easy to find unless you have a flight in that part of the airport. Bring $$&, this isn’t a cheap spot. Sandwiches and salads are $ 10-$ 15 for the grab-and-go options.

So because I’m an avid thanksgiving food lover I went for the thanksgiving inspired turkey sandwich that had stuffing, cranberry, onions, etc, to compliment the turkey. I had mixed feelings about the sandwich hence something was off in flavor. I think if they served the cranberry sauce on the side so someone can control the level of sweetness this could help and perhaps change the bread as well. I think it’s a cool concept, but needs improvement.

The Mexican tortilla soup was quite enjoyable. It was pretty hearty filled with beans, corn, tomatoes, etc. I wish I would have tried the cakes as they looked oh so good! Staff was friendly and the seating area was clean. Definitely a good pit stop before boarding a flight!

My red velvet cake came with a pie crust that’s delicious! The whip cream in top was light and frothy. No wonder this is Oprah’s favorite!

Expensive food, both my wife and I felt sick to our stomachs after eating their turkey and stuffing sandwich. It tasted good but we both felt like we needed to vomit afterward. Avoid this place, at least the turkey sandwich.

I have seen this place for years now and always kept going as I thought it was just cakes and cookies but it is much more than that. The salads are amazing! If you travel a lot you are likely eating a lot of bad airport food… ice box gives a nice alternative to the normal airport chicken wing garbage.

Time and time again I had passed Icebox Café on my way to and from Miami at the airport. And had heard they also had Oprah’s favorite cake. However, after trying Oprah’s favorite tea at Teavana and being none too impressed, Oprah’s opinion had taken a substantial nosedive in credibility. Alas, celebration and a state of shock about graduation led to the peanut butter brownie in a haze. There are two things I take seriously — my peanut butter and chocolate. When it comes to these two, there is no joking around. So this brownie… Holy peanut butter chocogasm. Dense, fudgey, and that«mmmm» noise when you have a rich, chewy brownie rather than those cakey ones. The most disappointing experience ever is a brownie that looks good, and tastes meh. It just breaks my heart! I wish the peanut butter had been a tiny bit sweeter… it certainly had a strong peanut buttery taste, but it was lacking a tad of sweetness that would have set this brownie at 99⁄100. But, this was a once in a lifetime end-of-college brownie, and I am glad I made a good choice! Icebox is worth a visit! What shall I try next? P. S. If you decide to eat this on the airplane, you might have to exercise the no sharing rule as your seat mates drool next to you. Sorry, they didn’t stop at Icebox.

The Ice Box Café — Airport is the mini me version of the South Beach location. I am an employee at the airport and was so excited in anticipation of this opening. I was also a little cautious that being at the airport the menu would be limited and more expensive. Fortunately that future didnt happen. Just to make it sweeter, they give Airport employees 15% off their order. When first approaching the restuarant you see a brightly display case with different colors of fresh baked cakes. On the top is a a clear glass fence protecting cookies, muffins and other flaky sweet pastries. Standing there thinking you have an idea of what goodness you’ll get, you get distracted by two chalk boards with a wonderful selection of daily specials. The board has breakfast specials like quiche of the day to smoothies and parfaits. My favorite as on the beach is their fresh soups. Wonderful flavors like chicken coconut curry or turkey chili and of course soup of the day. Then they have Entrees that make you feel so healthy. They have a Quinoa Bowl that has Portobello mushrooms and Oelek sambal(an Indonesian condiment). What about the tender Brisket and the giant selection of artisan sandwiches. so many choices. I feel sorry for the customers that are in a hurry. If you are not being rushed then these wonderful delights can be eaten at a counter or the bright white tables and tangelo colored chairs. There is a wall of glass that looks out over the flight line, helping you dream of your next destination. If you are in a hurry and have no time for dreaming over a Pulled pork sandwich and a glass of a sultry red wine, there is a giant selection of to go delicacies like Hummus, feta and herbed tofu sandwiches or Malaysian shrimp salad. They are in a huge refrigerated case that you pick up and take it to the register and then make way to your flight. But wait, you will not do justice to your visit without trying a piece of their famous chocolate delight cake. This cake was famous because Oprah proclaimed it being one of her favorite things. The cake starts with a moist dark chocolate cake, with a thin layer of chocolate ganache on top. Next was a light and fluffy thick layer of vanilla cheese cake. Covering the cheese cake was a velvety milk chocolate mousse and another thin layer of moist cake. Not to be undone the cake is completely covered with chocolate ganache. Any Unilocalers that forsake this cake should be watched with a careful eye. Oprah you are right again … this is MY favorite cake.

On my way to pick up luggage from a flight I spotted(and was really excited) to see an Icebox in the airport so I could pick up dessert for myself and husband who has a never ending sweet tooth. I got up to the counter and grabbed two to-go slices of cake(red velevet and coconut cake) and when I stepped over to the cashier the guy working the counter abruptly told me their kitchen was closed. I explained I didn’t want food, just to pay for the desserts. He apologized and rung me up and I was on my way. The whole way home I was still excited about the cakes because it’s been a while since I’ve been to Icebox and they are known for such delicious desserts. Well I can say their airport location is NOT. The red velvet had hardly any flavor whatsoever, it was like cardboard and my coconut cake was beyond dry. I took one and a half bites and threw it away. For $ 6 a pop they definitely need to improve the quality of their cakes overall, or how they are stored because it wasn’t worth it. Note to any travelers thinking of stopping by for dessert — skip it.

So had to stop at this place during a layover in Miami because there was a sign that said«2006 Oprah’s Cake Pick» We all know Oprah is never wrong so I was really expecting to taste some amazing cake. Me and my fellow dessert lover ordered 3 slices(German Chocolate, Red Velvet, and Dolce de Leche). Ummm dry, dry, and dry. If I had to pick the best one it would be the Dolce De Leche, but all 3 cakes were lacking sweetness and moistness. I’ll have to look into if there’s an actual location or if this airport joint is the only place selling these cakes. As for the service… ummm…much to be desired. No helpful suggestions or friendly smiles. In fact it seem like a worker there was really upset and she stormed off to the back. Not the happy experience that I would expect from an «Oprah» suggested place. I will pass on this place if I’m ever back(hopefully soon) in Miami again.

I’ve only had their cake, Oprah’s favorite… And speaking as a die hard chocolate lover. This cake was okay. It had the chocolate ganache covering a chocolate cake with more chocolate cream and cream cheese fillings, but it just didn’t have that deep cocoa flavor I was anticipating. I mean it’s better than supermarket cake for sure, but to be chosen as Oprah’s favorite? I expected my toes to curl, but they stayed straight and flat against my flip flops. Service was whatevers too, not the friendliest. But I guess it was because I wasn’t an employee for the airport or an airline as those were the only people who the icebox employees seemed to be nice and friendly to. As for me all I received was an indifferent disposition and my change. Overall, I don’t get it.
