Best croquetas in all of Miami! We really like coming to eat breakfast, desayuno criollo. It consists of 2 eggs, toast Cuban or French, house potatoes or French fries and your choice of bacon, ham or sausages. Of course they add two scrumptious croquetas. They also have really good Cuban food and delicious Cuban sandwiches. We’ve ordered a Neapolitan cake twice and it’s never disappointed. The servers are always friendly and quick.

Love to hit this place up for breakfast Saturday mornings with my dad. Great Cuban breakfast. We are in & out if we arrive by 9 am.

It wasn’t one of those days called bad, I wasn’t having a bad day, it was actually quite great, but the fact that my presence wasn’t acknowledge and the«waiter» or «person who is in charge of sitting down patrons» walked off in the middle of my conversation with him regarding preferred seating inside and in the back to attend to other people, that is what started my bad day; and coming back to tell me that their wasn’t any available tables when I could see two free… This place is not cool, so I’d rather waste my hundreds were I get better service than this hole of a restaurant. Lets see how much they are willing to pay Unilocal to get this negative review off :-D corporate America. Wait, will Unilocal even approve this review?

They never get it right! I have ordered from here numerous times and they never get my order right! Breakfast and dinner orders are always missing something or ice cold. My family has been a customer of Islas Canarias for over 20 years and they have seriously lost their touch. The ladies that answer the phone for delivery are not knowledgeable and very rude. Not only do they mess up my order every time, but when you call to speak to a manager they are rude and do not want to help or listen to you. I have even had the owner(Luis) be rude to me. MYFAMILYAND I WILLNEVERSPENDANOTHERDIMEATISLASCANARIASEVERAGAIN.(It’s a shame because their croquetas are good.) There are hundreds of Cuban restaurants in Miami. Islas Canarias is not one of the good ones anymore.

Although the food is pretty good, I do not recommend using their delivery service. The orders get messed up, missing items and also order during lunch if you need the food for dinner. It could take 2 hours easily to get your food delivered. Giving one star on delivery services.

Their breakfast is very good and the best part is their prices. I had the potato and onion omelette and it was very good. Their coffee is very good also and I loved their toasts. They lost a star because we asked for two sides of scramble eggs(one with cheese) and the server forgot to bring the scramble eggs with cheese. By the time he came back to the table we didn’t want the second order anymore so we told him to bring some more toasts instead and to put cheese on the scramble eggs we already had on the table and we would call it even. Well, he brought us the toasts and two slices of american cheese. Didn’t bother to offer to melt the cheese on the eggs, which were already cold by the time we got the cheese. BTW, they charged $ 1.75 for the cheese alone. We were also rushed to place the order. The server took the menus from the table while I was still looking at what else I wanted to order. LONGSTORYSHORT… This place lacked good customer service, but their prices and good food made up for it.

Elena Ruz– a guilty pleasure/Cuban sandwich filled with cream cheese, turkey, and guava– is it supposed to be warm or cold? In Islas Canarias Café, mine was cold unlike any Elena Ruz I would find in La Carreta or Versailles. It was ehhh.(an expression I use to describe anything below average). Would I come here again? Maybe, but leaning towards not sure. The food was hearty, it was cheap, not a total loss. They also let my friend and I sit and eat at one of the outdoors tables, which was nice of them.

I never write bad reviews but this place is my favorite restaurant to have breakfast and I just had the worst experience! If you ever go there DONOTSEATWITHTAMARA! she is the worst server I know! She touched my food to see if it was hot enough since she took very long, never introduced herself, did not bring my tostadas or extras i asked and paid for! All she does is play with her piercing on her mouth while you talk to her and gives you bad attitude all the time! She is horrible at customer service and very disrespectful! Please DONOTSEATWITHTAMARA!

Originally a patron to the actual restaurant on coral way, this restaurant was quite an experience. Starting with the«cara tranca» people that greet you and give you table service… it then follows by pissy service and not very good listening skills. I’m a very easy going guy but honestly your service determines your outcome. I always believe people deserve a tip for service and I was very close to not leaving her anything but of course I’m not that person.

The croquetas make good on their claim! Best in Miami! Wow wow wow. Tasty! Couldn’t stop eating them. The pumpkin soup was also delicious. Crema de malanga did not disappoint, either. Other things we tried were the fried rice with vaca frita, palomilla steak(por supuesto!) and the lobster ravioli. The lobster ravioli was the least fave, but all in all, the meal was amazing! Will definitely recommend.

Best croquetas in town! Hands down! I love every item on the menu here. So the food is great but the service, not so much. Some of the waiters forget to even walk by your table so you find yourself staring them down until your eyes meet. Regardless, I still continue coming back because, well, CROQUETAS!

I’ve come here several times in the last 4 – 5 years. I don’t really have much to say about this place except that it’s good Cuban food at a good price! They have a drive thru which is like amazing I’ve actually used it a few times while I was in the area for croquetas and coffee! If you didn’t already know its related to FINKA and the croquetas at Finka are actually from here so feel free to cut out the middle man and pass thru their drive thru for these amazing croquetas! So so good! As for my sit down dining experiences the food has always been good and it’s delivered! However the service there is a little slow… It takes a while for them to take your order and if you run out of water, good luck! This isn’t every time it is really dependent of who you waiter is. That’s why I gave them 4 stars cause over all it’s good and that drive thru is really convenient!

Que Mierda. I’ve been to Islas Canarias Café numerous times and had bad experiences, but I usually deal with it because I love their croquetas. I can tell you that after today, I will NEVERGOBACK. I ordered 5 croquetas of ham and 5 of cod. The server who took my order was busy socializing behind the counter, handed me a large, sealed box, and gave me my ticket to pay. She took another order while I paid. $ 13 for 10 croquetas. I left, came home, and opened my box. Only 5 croquetas were in the box. I paid cash, or I would have called and asked them to uncharge me. So I went back, asked politely for the manager, who tried to walk away and pretend he wasn’t the manager when he heard me ask for him. I explained to him that I ordered 10 and only received 5 croquetas, and handed him the receipt and box. He gave me a nasty look and went to speak to the server. She then has the guts to tell me(in Spanish) that it was my fault I didn’t get the croquetas, because I «didn’t wait long enough». I say«excuse me?» because although I do speak some Spanish, it’s not my first language — it’s ENGLISH. So she then repeats to me that it’s MYFAULT, and condescendingly asked if I understood her then. I then begin to get angry and ask her why she can’t just admit that she forgot and apologize for it instead of blaming me. Everyone in the restaurant turns around and starts asking me what’s going on while they call another manager. The manager then comes out, hands me a bag, and gives a very insincere apology, after I told her I just wanted an apology. I tell her it would have been fine had they not treated me like I was being nasty to them because the fact was that I wasted more time and money driving back to the store to get the food I had already paid for. They didn’t even offer to give me my money back or offer me anything extra. They just made fun of me and made me out to be some irrational patron. I’m never going back there, I don’t care how good everyone says their croquetas are. Delicias de España on bird road and 57 ave has way better croquetas in my opinion, and they’re hardworking, POLITE people who speak both English and Spanish.

Miami– you blow my mind with every visit. Per some fellow locals that were befriended, we landed our salty bodies post scuba diving at(scubatyme divers-which btw is amazing) at this jazzy joint. First off, I have to rave about the toasted complimentary bread. Holy freaking moly, the bread has the perfect crispy edge and literally leaves a slight cheese bread flavor in your mouth. *I just reconfirmed this flavor after taste post meal and it is spot on and still utterly cheesy like and delicious even after it has cooled down! * The star of the show-CROQUETAS! «This is sooooooooooooo gooodddddd» was my reaction. Followed by a long savoring moan of deliciousness… Man. The creamy purée of potatoe and chunks of ham encrusted in the perfectly fried texture of bread crumbs and delightfulness will literally make you crumble in elation. Those sticks of glory!!! Now onto the sip of dulce de leche. Who are we to kid. Everywhere you go in Miami, you can’t go wrong with ordering this sensational classic; however, this place does it so right. One sip and this illicited a «ohhhhhhmmmyYyyYyYyyygoOoooDDDddddd» for a good 10 seconds. That’s how utterly perfect this drink was so I’ll leave the rest of it up to you to find out! Now entrée time: Sampler criollo is the way to go if you want to get a bit of everything. With perfectly grilled flank steak, ropa vieja, more croquetas heck ya!, rice, plantains, beans and Yuca(the perfect palate refresher), you can’t go wrong with this. Perfection at its best. This will be my go to place to grub going forward in Miami. Now if only I can get some in SoCal!

Been here many times and I just have to say, while their food is great the service and the woman that work there need a SERIOUSATTITUDEADJUSTMENT — They are CONSISTENTLYTHERUDESTBUNCHOFPEOPLE I HAVEEVERENCOUNTEREDIN A PLACEOFBUSINESS! How DARE you interrupt their personal conversation to try to place an order. You have to wait until they are done and they turn to you and rudely say«Degame» and place your order while they continue with their personal conversation about their personal life– they treat you like you are interrupting them and they are doing you a favor by taking your order! It’s very sad — where’s the management!!!

Came here after work for the first time after hearing a co-worker raving about the croquettas. They are the bomb! I ate the eggs, potatoes, chorizo, and Cuban bread with EXTRABUTTER. It was amazing. You are served in less that 15 min and such friendly customer service. I love it!

They have a great breakfast at a great price. You will come hungry and leave full and satisfied! The service is fast and the food gets served quickly. They have delicious homemade avena. I’m picky about trying avena from restaurants. Theirs is sooo gooood! I recommend it. This location also has a bakery for your empanadas, tequeños, pastelitos, and even breads!

Honestly this place is one worth going to. It’s usually packed but the wait is always relatively short. Almost anything you get is going to be delicious. Although this is a Cuban restaurant it is one of the few restaurants that makes really really good Peruvian Ceviche.(Even my Peruvian friends have admitted it!!)

Wow if there is a mekka of croquettas then this is the place! Hands down best ham croquettas of my life! The service was great! And talk about ordering and then turning around to have the food be on the table. Holy Moly! It came out so quickly it was amazing. Loved the food — we had two of the chicken dishes. Yummy!

I have two locations relatively close to the house but this location is closer so I come here more often. Their food and service are both good. Usually gets busy and therefore it takes a bit long sometimes. Some Recommendations I have for this place are follows: –chicken Caesar salad –salmon Caesar salad –grilled chicken breast –crema de malanga –croquetas –breakfast in general –kids’ meals –chicken cordon bleu –chicken Alfredo –pastelitos
