Amazing!!! Very flavorful and the service is excellent. Definitely a must while in the Grove.

Simple and good concept but incredibly invaluable. Hand rolls are super tiny and nothing comes with ginger. I spent $ 18 what the server told me was the«best deal», which amounted to 3 tiny temakis. Not such a good deal. I feel like I just got hustled. In addition, we were 1 of 2 tables in the place and our food still took 20 minutes… Slow and overpriced sums up my impression.

My wife and I stumbled onto this place on the way to the theatre. They make good hand rolled sushi at a reasonable price. I’ll definitely come back

I wish I could give more stars because the staff was excellent, but the food and atmosphere were average at best. Think higher end fast food like chipotle or pei Wei… and very average sushi… they do have a large menu and are reasonably priced, but we won’t be going back… better food and atmosphere elsewhere.

Hidden in a corner is a different way to eat sushi. Wrapped in edible seaweed, the tuna or salmon are great choices. Portions are medium sized.

DONOTGO! YOU’LLWASTEYOURTIME! Worst service I’ve ever experienced in Miami. We were in 3 people and ordered 2 temakis each. After over 30 mins only 2 temakis came out and the manager said the 3rd one was coming out soon. 20 mins went by and nothing! So by then one of us was waiting 50 mins for their first temaki! This is totally unacceptable! We just stood up and went to pay what we ate. When we asked what was wrong they said they were under staffed and were not expecting the amount of customers they had(it’s labor day Monday)! What type of excuse is that? The worst is that the waitress had an attitude instead of apologizing. The least they did was take 50% off from what we ate. Dont go there! You’ll waste your time and leave hungry and frustrated.

Worst sushi I’ve ever tasted, and that includes the sushi I’ve made myself. Not the best service as they messed up our order twice. I find it sad that people consider this a good sushi place. Tabasco sauce at a sushi?! Really?

One of the worst Groupons I ever bought. MP is set back on the ground floor of Coco Walk, near a back entrance. Not much to be said for ambience, it looks like a diner on the inside, with a few booths and when you sit outside, you get to listen to the bands playing at Fat Tuesdays or wherever, and they sound like a couple of drunk guys sinking karaōke. The concept is quite smart but only for the owner. Take a strip of nori, stuff it with white rice, perhaps a tablespoon of filling and sell it around $ 10 a pop. They don’t even serve it on a plate, you get to eat out of a paper wrapper. The mushroom temaki roll– not impressed. Leathery overly salty mushrooms. I suspect they reconstituted dried shiitakes, fresh ones don’t have that chewy texture. Biggest drawback overall is that they don’t offer a brown rice option on anything. Also, most of the rolls contain cream cheese, which you can ask them to hold. I wanted something substantial and filling, like a bento box, so I ordered the closest thing on the menu, the mixed plate, which was breaded salmon and shrimp, with a side of rice and seasoned salad. What a joke. $ 11 for a cup of white bland white rice, a few shreds of lettuce and basically fried pop corn shrimp and tiny little salmon morsels. There was so much breading that I couldn’t tell whether I was eating shrimp or salmon. Where is the tempura batter? This is supposed to be Japanese, isn’t it? The batter was cheap white bread crumbs out of a shake-n-bake box. I felt like I ordered a kids meal at Long John Silver’s. Thankfully, the BF helped me eat most of it because although I was hungry, this was just pretty bad. You can literally pick up better sushi at Fresh Market down the road for less!

As fresh as you can get sushi anywhere! Fun hand rolls are the main thing on the menu and they are LOTS of choices! I’ve been about half a dozen times and service is consistently top-notch. I’m sure the hiring managers have high standards for customer service and it shows.

When the best part of a sushi joint is the seaweed, Houston we have a problem. Yesterday I went to this place for lunch. Luckily my friend had a coupon and was nice to share it with me. We sampled a variety of different items: Panko fried salmon: tasted of some ubiquitous fried item. My friend though it was chicken. That should tell you something. Panko fried white fish: It tasted like the fish sandwich you may have had in your middle school cafeteria. Thai shrimp hand roll: the shrimp where hot pink(fake looking) in color. The seaweed with the roll was good, the rice, ok. The taste of this roll was all sorts of wrong. California salad: good, and crisp. The kani(fake crab) was dry and tasted old. Octopus: was ok. It was doused with the same sauce they put on everything: a watered down eel sauce. The whitefish sashimi was very good. That was the only tasty item apart from the salad. To The Owner: I would expand your choice of fish and deliver a better caliber of food. Your food is slightly better than Publix sushi. I don’t care for Publix sushi. Also, it’s hard to find your place as there is zero signage.

Came her with a Groupon with a friend and will not return. This new franchise come to America is sushi mall meets comfort sushi for virtual Americans in Europe. It’s supposed to be safe and familiar… and the customer service is outstanding. However, the most discerning element about a Japanese/Sushi/Roll restaurant is the quality and freshness of the fish. Of the 5 items we ordered, the only stand-out was the White Fish sashimi. The Lemon Tuna, Breaded Salmon and Octopus were bland, tasted semi-frozen. At one point, the Tuna tasted more like chicken than fish — how does that happen. On top of it all, it’s kind of difficult to find…(t’s inside CocoWalk, first floor, opposite Victoria’s Secret)

I could easily get addicted to this place. More fish and less rice, who can say no to that? They have different and interesting types of hand rolls. There were a lot of different hand rolls that I wanted to try but because they are so filling, I couldn’t try all of them. We got the Smoked Salmon Mix, NachoMaki, Lemon Tuna, Salmon Berry, and the Salmon Kani. I liked them all except the Salmon Kani. It was weirdly sweet and too mayo-y. The Smoked Salmon Mix was my favorite, everything complemented each other so well. The NachoMaki, was great even though the Tabasco was bit on the strong side. Lemon Tuna was a bit like eating lemon chicken in a hand roll. Although the tuna was too dry, it was still tasty and the sauce was very good. The Salmon Berry was surprisingly delicious! We ordered it because it mixes strawberries, salmon and cream cheese together. We were hesitant but also adventurous and decided to give it a try. Glad that we did, I definitely recommend it.

Came here on a Saturday night around 730, the place was quiet. We had excellent service, our waiter was very attentive and got the order correct after we altered a few of the rolls(requesting minimal or no cream cheese). The place is very reasonable price wise for both sushi and drinks. The hand rolls were fresh, the regular rolls where fresh and tasty. I would recommend the salmon strawberry, was a nice twist on the typical salmon roll. Sashimi was also very fresh and tasted good. Hard to find this quality of fish for such low prices. We used a travelzoo deal without any difficulties here. Will definitely be returning next time I’m in the grove !

Knowing the brazilian version of this restaurant, I everything was good but one thing, which is kind of the main thing: the size of the portions! Used to a delicious maki with the sushi goods overflowing out of the black cone, this one comes as a cheap version of the real thing. Too small and little. The place is perfect, clean, good location. BUT if you buying to makis + drinks it comes out around $ 25(counting tax and tips). One would expect to be fully satisfied, I know you never super full when you eat sushi but you don’t need to go looking for dessert right away because you still hungry. As a brazilian I wish the best to the place, but keep mind owners, by saving on the portion just might jeopardize the business itself.

Nice restaurant in The Grove. One of the users suggested the lemon tuna. I was not a fan. It was tiny pieces of well done tuna(breaded). Well done tuna is tough and chewy. I ate it very quickly and asked for the spicy tuna tamaki which was much better. My daughter and I shared two California rolls and a summer roll as well. It sounds like a lot of food, but the tamakis are small. About half of a hot dog with the bun. With a green tea and a coke the bill came out to $ 42. I thought that was bit pricey. Service is good and the restaurant is very clean and comfortable. The happy hour special is buy one get the lesser one for ½ off. M-F 4−7pm.

My new go-to place for temaki rolls. Innovative very nicely sized rolls, so fresh tasting and nicely presented. I had the shrimp-salmon temaki and a delicious salad with bits of salmon, brie and sliced almonds with a tasty sesame dressing. Want to try many other rolls. Already planning my next trip back. The server, Ryan was delightful, polite and offered excellent suggestions. He’s an asset to their business. Well priced too. The most expensive item on their menu is $ 8.00, Most are in the $ 5 – 6 dollar range. Very good value and most yummy, and a wonderful respite from having spent the day plodding through the Grove/St. Stephens art shows.

Seaweed cones filled with more fish than rice. A great little lunch spot and casual dinner place with great customer service. My first time there I ordered the Lemon Tuna Temaki, which Sheila my server suggested. It was zesty fried tuna with rice. DE-LI-CIOUS. If the flavors in the lemon tuna temaki are any indication to what the rest of the menu will taste like, then I’m definitely a fan and will be back for more. Nice addition to the restaurant choices in CoCowalk. Half-off everything on the menu during happy hour, M-F from 4 pm to 7 pm(I hope I got that right).

My hubby and I headed to Makis Place which we had seen during our usual walks with our dogs. When we got there we were immediately greeted by friendly and energetic staff which made it for a good start. It took us a while to study the extensive menu which includes very unusual combinations. My hubby finally went with the dinner platter for two, even though he never intended to share it with anyone! The platter included two different temakis, the mixed fish(salmon, white fish, tuna, and avocado) and the skin temaki(grilled salmon and tare sauce). He liked the mixed fish temaki and said that the fish was fresh. The skin temaki, while good, was a little too much to eat more than just a few bites. The platter also included the Uramaki tuna roll, mushroom batayaki, and three types of sashimi, which he enjoyed a lot and said that the white fish sashimi was delicious. The final item in his platter, sunomomo with imitation crab, was the only thing I could try and only because he doesn’t like cucumbers. I really liked it, probably because I do love pickled cucumbers. I decided to go with temakis only, so I started with the cameroon, which is made with fresh salmon, grilled shrimp, thai sauce and peanuts. It was very flavorful and just a bit sweet and the peanuts added a nice crunch to each bite. I Then had the nachomaki which includes fresh salmon, nachos, and tabasco pepper sauce. It was a cool combination of japanese-mexican flavors that strangely worked. My last one was the crispy temaki made with fresh salmon, cream cheese, tabasco, and rice flakes. It was spicy but the cream cheese balanced it out. The salmon was fresh and the rice flakes added an extra crunchy texture that made this temaki my favorite of the night. We also had a couple of sakes that come in a deceivingly small bottle. Don’t be fooled, this little suckers pack a punch and they kicked my bootie :) I also took a sweet temaki to go for my 3:00 a.m. cravings and I am so glad that I did. It is made with chocolate ganache, fresh strawberries, and peanuts in a cookie cone. It was delicious and beautifully presented. All in all, this is a casual restaurant with good food and excellent service. We love the fact that this is a new addition to Cocowalk. We do suggest that they add sriracha, kimchi sauce, and hot tea to their menu.

This place is so incredibly amazing. I love that it is new, and the service is great. The fish is so deliciously fresh, and they give you free toppings which other sushi restaurants would charge for such as eel sauce, wasabi mixed with soy, etc… The menu is very diverse, and the rolls were equally as good as the Temakis which is what they highlight here. I had 2 cones which are pretty big and filling: The Spicy Tuna and The Salmon Avocado. I am officially addicted and want to go here for work lunch everyday.

Glad to try another sushi place in the Grove. Location is okay and service is good. Not the best and not the worst I’ve ever had. Look forward to trying different items. Tuna is great quality. Just make sure you’re willing to spend a lot of money on a small amount of food.
