I went based on previous reviews. I’ll be coming back. Diverse menu choices, excellent prices with outstanding food and service. As long as you can handle traffic in the area, it’s worth it!

Try #123! Don’t let the outside fool you! The place looks like a hole in the wall from the outside. The food is very tasty, the fish is fresh, and the service is great. These rolls are small, they are truly bite size. The prices are in pair with the price, I’d say it’s fair. I ordered a Japanese beer only to find that the beer is actually made in California! Boo

This is one of my favorite sushi restaurants in Miami, definitely a hidden gem. The sushi is well-prepared with a home-made, old school Japanese flavor. Do NOT come here expecting an overpriced, over-seasoned gourmet experience because Doraku this is not. The theme here is SIMPLE and TRADITIONAL, and they do both of these things extremely well. The owner, Chef Enomoto is usually on site and you’ll see him around eyeing the dishes being prepared, giving correction when needed, as well as eyeing the guests to see how their experience is going. The wait staff is friendly, pleasant, well-trained and well-informed. Rika, who is the owner’s daughter, is often around — she is fiercely capable, her customer focus is marvelous and she often gracefully juggles a seemingly impossible number of orders and phone calls without skipping a beat, or making any mistakes. Overall, we come here for traditionally prepared fresh sushi, great service and affordable prices — and it consistently delivers.

I LOVETHISPLACE!!! Super clean and the service is excellent. The food is super fresh and delicious. I highly recommend the ramen noodle soup with pork belly. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it. Don’t let the façade of this place fool you, this is one of the best sushi restaurants in Miami.

Since the owner is a Japanese, the restaurant looks and smells so Japanese! Also, meals are very tasty! One more good thing is the price is very reasonable! This place makes me want to come every day!

This place was actually very good, i got the #22 which is the fish combo… it had 5 pieces of assorted fish nigiri and a tikka maki which is tuna roll. The tuna roll only came in 6 small pieces… but the nigiri– all of them was DELICIOUS. I wish they had another fish combo that had more pieces but this just hit the spot… but if i had a bigger appetite i probably would feel hungry. My friends go the #23 which is 5 pieces of nigiri all fish, and then 1 piece of squid nigiri and 1 shrimp nigiri with a california roll instead and that had 8 pieces. I would most likely come back here for the specials if i was in the area again! Very quick service and delicious — very fresh. The soy sauce as other Unilocalers had said is normal soy so it’s not watered down so don’t use too much or you will have salty sushi!

After being in Miami for 15 years, I just discovered this place recently, an amazing place I would recommend anyone with a good sushi plate, I recommend you try the pork belly, miso soup, beef udon, roast duck harumaki, their sushi is flawless and fresh, very authentic, non pretentious place, very. Clean, I will come back many times

Service is outstanding — phone etiquette was impressive & when I arrived to pick up my food — the employees were extremely professional, welcoming & caring.(That’s why I gave it 3 stars). I ordered the Madeline roll without spicy mayo as well as a Miso soup & I was not impressed — at all. I couldn’t really taste the shrimp, it seem as it was old or maybe it was because the cream cheese completely over powered the taste? I’m not sure but I’ve had shrimp tempura w cream cheese before & thats never happened. & the miso soup, was just idk– blah. I’m not sure if I’ll ever come back but I have a feeling I might just cause it’s close by and convenient. But I do know I’m extremely disappointed as some people stated it was«the best sushi in Miami» & it’s clearly not.

This is easily the worst sushi restaurant I have every been to. The service was fine but the sushi was horrible and I had 2 different rolls so it’s not like I just picked a bad thing on the menu. I honestly would pick sushi maki or any other chain over this place. The rice on the rolls was dry and the seared tuna was just cooked al the way through. In the California roll the avocado tasted old. Disappointing

This place is really good!!! Don´t get discouraged if you go for lunch and there is not a lot of people… the chef is japanese, and I could really notice it when I saw and tasted the food. Fresh food, authentic japanese dishes, home made taste. I will come back!!!

I’ve been thinking about trying this place for a while now as I live on Coral Way and there aren’t many options for sushi around. Unfortunately my expectations were not met after trying it today. While the décor inside is certainly much more inviting than the exterior and the prices are decent, I expect a staple California roll to be tasty to warrant more stars. Salmon and tuna nigiri rolls were pretty good but the California roll just rid any positive feelings I had about anything else. There was absolutely no flavor and the provided soy sauce packets were much too salty. My white fish nigiri also was extremely tough and I was unable to finish the piece. Perhaps I would alter my rating based on sampling other parts of the menu, but I honestly am quite disappointed with the offerings I had today.

Overall food was really tasty! The waitress was somewhat rude hence the four stars. The outside of the restaurant is not very appealing but once you step inside its a completely different atmosphere. Totally recommend

A group of 9 members of my family were in the area and my nephew asked for Sushi. After looking through many Sushi restaurants online, I found this one — and just from the pictures knew that this was a non-pretentious, authentic restaurant. Though I came in with high expectations, I was not disappointed. Everything that everyone had was well done! I had a vegetarian bento box, which was filling and gave me a chance to try many dishes. Crispy tempura, Brown rice rolls, Vegetable Gyoza, Hamachi Jalapeño, Miso Soup … all wonderful! The owner was on site and involved in everything from setting the tables to cooking to serving. I think this may be one of the reasons that this place is so good! The staff was attentive, fun and easy to interact with. The prices were reasonable. Ample parking is readily available. We live in Miami Beach but this will definitely be on our list of sushi places to go to!

This place has been around for at least 15 years probably more , When I first started eating here it was 60% a market Now its 90% a restaurant, the owner is usually present supervising. The sushi is great though I think it used to be better Will keep coming love sushi

The place is nice and clean, no big decoration or anything, plain, simple and nice, Japanese Style. The main reason I went to this restaurant is because I wanted to eat UNI and IKURA and knew this place offered a chirashi of both. So I ordered the Royal Chirashi(Ikura and Uni) but they didnt have any Uni. At least for me that is a deal breaker in any japanese restaurant, no Uni? Not the real deal then The waitress was very nice and changed the uni for Toro in my Chirashi, it was good, but still it was a substitute.

Finally! After 8 years looking for some true traditional authentic Japanese I found it here. The place with the worst name for a restaurant possible but with the best authentic sushi in Miami. Move over all pretenders this is authentic and no they don’t serve Pad Thai! It’s as good as it gets and its value for money. Forget ambience and forget anything fancy its al about true Japanese food. I will be back Sushi Chef Japanese Restaurant So close to perfection and then… A fortune cookie happened! No no no a fortune cookie is american Chinese and not Japanese at all. For that I have to make it 4 and not 5 stars. So close.,

Okay, I HAD to go back to try some sushi. CLEAN is the way to go, as in nigiri or a plain roll. Take the guess work out of ordering and just get a chef selection. Good, fresh sushi doesn’t need extra soy sauce, spicy mayo or fried panko topping. I believe the Unilocalers who feel the sushi here is bland may be accustomed to American style maki rolls loaded with cream cheese and other add ons. When you have a beautiful tender, fresh slice of fish on top of perfectly prepared fluffy rice, it needs nothing else. The rice here is perhaps the best I’ve had anywhere in Miami, and yes, the rice is just as important as the freshness of the fish. My favorite was the salmon nigiri, incredibly buttery and smooth without even a hint of fishy smell or taste. Second favorite, the horsehead mackerel nigiri. Although I haven’t tried the uni here, it seems to be a best seller, and the pieces are huge. Mental bookmark for next time. Now, I just wish they delivered.
