Good food, great prices, excellent service. Everyone speaks English which is important because it’s in Pinecrest. Love you Rubens!

I get to-go at least twice a week and always receive great service both over the phone and at pick up. I never have to wait and it is always ready for me no matter if it is just a tostada for me and an entire meal for my family. Everyone is always happy when I bring Rubens home.

Been coming here for the past 20 years. Very excellent food. Anything you can order is very good. Don’t see what you want? Just ask for it.

Little hole in the wall and hard to find if you don’t know where it is, but the food is quite good. The restaurant is family operated and feels like abuela is in the kitchen cooking. The restaurant is outdated and has a long counter with stools, no tables and adds to the charm of the place. I recommend the home made chicken soup and pan con bistec

This place is near my home so I stop by when I’m in a hurry to eat. Food is good but not great. Prices are reasonable. Overall not a bad place.

Best Cuban food this side of the highway. Food is like making it at home. Cuban coffee is top notch. Wish it had a window. Staff makes you feel like a regular even when your not. You know it’s good when half the regulars are not even Latin.

I just called the restaurant and asked to place an order for pickup(in english although I’m bilingual and am of cuban descent, born and raised here in Miami) and the person that answered the phone said«No English» in an unpleasant tone and slammed down the phone. I find this to be very rude and will no longer be a patron of the restaurant any longer although I have been living in this area and eating there for many years.

Breakfast is fast and delicious every time. Only complaint are the regulars who love to talk to anyone and everyone around them. Otherwise my first choice for breakfast on US1. Remember to bring CASH!!!

Ok. I know what your thinking.. this is my family business and I have to give it 5 stars, but let me tell you that I have been to quite a few cuban restaurants and by far this is my favorite. The food is always fresh and is true to its roots. I have been to cuban restaurants where the bread is stale, the food as been modified from its original recipe and the service is horrendous. This restaurant hasn’t been around for more than 30 years for nothing. If you want to bring the family for real cuban creole food for under $ 30, your best bet is to come here! My favorite is pan con bistec on midnight bread with swiss cheese, potatoe sticks, onions mayo and maduros.

Ruben’s is an area staple. You cannot get more typically Cuban food, and the patrons are all from the immediate environs. Ruben himself is often at the counter, and will be happy to tell fish stories(ie «lies») about what he did on his boat this weekend. It sometimes feels like the Miami version of «Cheers» in there. Counterspace can be a premium — his place is popular with the regulars at lunch hour. Always top off lunch with a colada! Remember to bring cash, as this is a cash only operation.

Typical Cuban hospitality greets you as you whiff the potent scent of colada(Cuban espresso). The staff here is as generous as the portions are huge. One of the employees was nice enough to give me two beautiful mini bananas from her abundant branch. . Try the Cuban tostada(toast w/butter), colada, and turkey sausage for breakfast. Be warned, this place is CASHONLY– so be sure to bring your bills!

This place is tucked away in a corner of the shopping mall next to Ace Hardware in Pinecrest. Went here today for lunch on the suggestion of a friend and was delightfully surprised. It is an old school diner-style establishment as the place is nothing but a counter that runs around the entire restaurant. So, I grabbed a seat at the counter and ordered a Cuban Sandwich. When it came out I thought it was one of the best Cuban sandwiches I’ve had in Miami. The bread was perfect and soft and the cheese and everything else on the sandwich was everything a Cuban sandwich should be. I’ve also been told that their breakfast is very good as well so I will definitely be back to try that out. If it’s as good as the sandwich, I’ll be more than happy.

This place is AWESOME. My parents have been coming here since before I was born and my siblings and I have continued that tradition. It’s a definite mom and pop cuban cuisine type place. Small and comfortable. The staff are all super friendly and casual and yet still fast and attentive. Their breakfast is really what you come here for. Super delicious. They have a very comfort-food type deal going on and they really know how to hit the right spot. It might not be the greatest omg-amazing food but it is still REALLY good. You definitely want to stop here. And I think what really keeps people is the price. You just CAN’T beat 20 bucks for four full breakfast meals, café con leche included. And their meal sizes are quite decent. Most of the time I’m left taking food home.

This has been Saturday morning breakfast since I needed a booster chair at the barber shop. My normal is fresh squeezed orange juice, and bacon egg and cheese on cuban toast(big enough for two or one if you are extremely hungry) which should run you 5 or 6 bucks, can’t be sure since I’m not normally alone. Sticking with the sandwich theme, I usually get the steak sandwich for lunch or dinner which again can feed two.

2.5 Stars Dear Ruben’s, You have the Cuban Café ambiance down. You have the best prices for Cuban Café food down. You have the local loyalty thing down. What you don’t have down is the taste of the food. *Sigh* We came here for brunch on Saturday… Well, you know how it goes, breakfast at 2pm. First fail — NOCREDITORDEBIT cards. And thank god it says it LARGE on the front window. So we started our cash finding mission. Phew… A Kwik Stop across the street… Now, $ 2.50 in the hold with ATM fees, we return. First bled star… We finally walk in and grab a seat at your counter. The staff is very friendly and that saved you a star. Everyone was super attentive, courteous, and made us feel right at home. Here’s where it all starts going wrong… The food was just Meh… My pan con tortilla was lacking flavor, and that’s that it included ham, onions, and American cheese. Johnny ordered the Desayuno Completo and it was sub par all around. The eggs were supposed to be over-easy, but instead it was more like over-done. The home fries potatoes were GROSS — stuck together, mushy, and FLAVORLESS. The bacon didn’t even look like bacon. Not sure WHAT it was. It had bacon flavor though, I’ll give them that. And our Cuban toast was ruined. How do you do that? It was soggy and un-toasted. Sorry Ruben’s. I hope you fix these little details. The BF swears that you guys used to have the BEST breakfast ever. What happened? I want that old thing back! At least the total was MORE than reasonable. :) Can’t go wrong with 2 breakfasts(both with Café con Leche) for only $ 12.00! I will be giving you another chance. Fair is fair. See you soon! Cordially, Sabrina*
