Been a while we have not participated in this Restaurant. From last time we ate in here,(2010) it have change a lot in taste and portions of their Sandwich. I made the mistake of ordering the Grill Sarussi 8 inch,($ 9.49) the meat had to be chew a lot, the Chicken little pieces were dry the Cheese was trying to bring this conception to be eatable but it was a Flop… Wife Churrasco 8″($ 8.99) was as bad too, small pieces of Churrasco with a Sauce that was hard to be appreciated. She other some Tostones that came with cold Cuban Mojo for dipping; That is a first on My Book. At least the Tamale that I had was eatable. The Buñuelo($ 4.25) was good, so we order one to go. We know that prices goes up, but for the portion & taste, is a shame this place is lacking in what it use to be. Hope it will be better…-:((

I’ve been coming her on and off for the ten + years I’ve been living in Florida… I am truly upset that the girls taking the orders can’t pay attention and take the orders the right way(especially when it’s given to them in Spanish and I speak it fluently) breaded steak(bistek empanizado). Not to hard… Don’t know how she screwed that up … The manager seemed to know his business and had everything moving smoothly and was concerned that customers got their orders. He seemed to pay more attention to what needed to be done than the servers. I’ll give them another chance but if they screw it up again. I’ll be sure to let you all know. My advice to you sir, the owner, make sure your servers double check the orders and learn English even though I was speaking to her in clear Spanish. Thank you.

Sarussi on 8th has lost it’s luster! Sub par sandwiches with very little meat. Service slow and not very friendly. Save your money and go some other sandwich place!

Had the big sub as per«Man vs Food», was really good yet the place was empty as it was close to closing time. On vacation from Houston where there are a handful of Cuban places but nothing like south Florida.

Excellent subs. They are amazing. Man vs Food visited them and their house sauce just give their subs the right flavor.

The sandwiches are good no doubt! But the best in Miami, that may be pushing it a little. While they are really good, they are definitely over hyped. The Bistec is great! The Man Vs Food is a good sandwich but way to expensive. You can get 2 Sarussi Originals which is almost an identical sandwich. The only difference is that getting 2 Sarucci Originals you end up with more pork and it will cost you less money.

For years, I have heard that Sarussi has a great Cuban sandwich and I haven’t had Miami’s best until I go there. So, I took advantage that my car was getting washed and had lunch at this establishment. All I can say is… meh. Though homemade, the bread was a bit stale and not very good. The original Sarussi is an ok ham and cheese sandwich and the house garlic sauce was a bit overpowering. Props on the batido de Mamey since that was pretty good. The location was clean. I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here, but if in the area, it’s not a bad option.

I want to start off saying that ive been eating here for years and so have my parents and today was really a disappointment! To start off my husband ordered a pescado empanisado(breaded tilapia) and they brought it out with cheese!!! And some one that was eating with us ordered a pechuga de pollo a la milanesa(grilled chicken with tomato sauce ham amd cheese) and they brought him breaded chicken with a slice of chesse melted over it !! So we told the waitres she took the plates back and brought both the chicken and fish both breaded with melted ham and cheese on it! Yea breaded fish with ham and cheese on it! My husband at this point was hungry so just laughed and ate it! My friend which had the chicken was already discusted anf it dodnt have tomato sauce or onions as its suppose to bring! So we were about to ask for the check when theirs a huge ROACH on the wall which im terrified of and my 15 month old daughter was by so i jumped and grabbed my daughter ! But to end the vist and why i gave it 3 stars instead of negative was that the waitres was very nice and took off the plate that our friend didnt eat from the bill and brought the table a colada and a flan for the table and an ice cream for my daughter on the house and explained how they have a pet shop next door and that they do fumigate monthly just that they have been remodeling and that could be the cause of the humungous roach!!!

Best Cuban I’ve ever had. They glaze it with a Garlic glaze and have a dill based sauce that sets it apart. Highly recommend!

The Sarussi Classic with extra secret sauce is my favorite sandwich. Great lunch spot with a large variety of sandwiches to choose from. Only negative is the parking, which is limited, but when you’re craving the best Cuban sandwich in Miami, you find a way to satisfy it.

I use to come to this place as a teenager and it’s been awhile so I was in the area and want to see if the sandwich was gonna taste the same. The sandwich was definitely awesome starting with the bread amazingly soft and fresh made in house with a butter garlic top crusted. The ham and everything seemed and tasted fresh it was worth the stop in I will return

Sarussi is located in West Miami on 8th street about a block west of 67th ave. I’ve passed by this place a million times but was never tempted to try it, until of course I saw it on man vs food. It’s in a small strip. Parking is tight and can become a pain depending on the day of the week you go. The inside is pretty spacious split in two sections one for dining and the other side is a bar if you want to just grab a quick lunch. It looks like any other typical Latin Cafeteria in this area. Aside from Subs they also serve typical Cuban food like black beans and rice croqueticas, ropa vieja amongst other traditional dishes but forget that though Miami has tons of traditional Cuban restaurants scattered through out the city. I came here specifically for the sub that was seen on man vs food. So after hearing Adam Richman boast about how great this sandwhich was I decided to try it. The sandwich is named man vs food on the menu. It’s 16″ and it’s $ 23.00. It took about 15 minutes to get my sub. I asked for a side of their special sauce since it was such a highlight on the show. When they finally give me the sandwich it’s freaking huge!!! It stands about 3 in tall stacked with ham and pork and of course it’s 16in long. So like a girl I’m getting excited cause the sub is huge and extra meaty. I add a bit of their«Special sauce» and what happens… I’m disappointed. The sauce is terrible! It does the sub 0 justice. It’s basically just marinara with vinegar. Long story short I ate the sub cause it was stacked with meat. There’s a reason why most Cuban sandwiches use mustard and mayo rather than marinara… Because it tastes better!!! This place isn’t terrible but it’s not great. Their subs are huge and meaty, their croquetas empanadas and camarones empanizados are pretty good also. Last thing if you’re not from Miami or not from this area keep in mind West Miami is like Cuba most of the people here speak Spanish and expect you to speak Spanish as well. So if you do speak Spanish don’t be a dick speak Spanish back to the waitresses it makes ordering a lot easier. I gave it 3 stars because the food is actually pretty good and i’am looking forward to trying some of their other sandwiches. Last thing before I go… That Adam Richman is full of shit man.

It had been a long long time since we watched this episode on Man V Food and we finally made it to Miami to give Sarussi’s a try! We came in on a weeknight, wednesday I believe, and the place was empty… scary empty… like us and another table were the only tables. but, we figured the area was mostly businesses and everything was closed so what the hell let’s give it a go! our waitress was nice, gave good recommendations, and we ordered the Man V Food special sandwich, 8″ size, an 8″ Churrasco Sandwich, and one Mamey. the man v food sandwich is basically a supersized Cuban, on their delicious special bread, like wow that stuff was great! The meats were all so tasty, juicy, flavorful, and tender; the sauce had a nice kick to it and so much delicious melty cheese! some mustard pickles and this thing was the ! my sandwich the churrasco, was also quite simple and amazing! tender juicy chunks of steak, with fritas or thin fried potatoes, sauce, and again the amazing bread toasted to crispy perfection! The mamey was also delicious, first time trying this drink and it was thick, cool, refreshing, and sweet! a great drink to pair with the sandwiches with papaya and other fruity flavors! definitely recommend this place and will return if i ever come back to miami!

So my friends have been going on and on about the subs from here so one day while driving by we decided to try it. Parking was easy, place is kinda small but service is quick so that’s all good to me. So I heard the two best sandwiches are the sarussi pork or the sarussi pollo(chicken). I went with the chicken. Glad I freaking did!!! Its freaking delish!!! Its so flavorful and cheesy and every bite is satisfaction. The chicken is seasoned perfectly the cheese is melted and there not cheap on it either. The onions are grilled and give it a perfect crunch and the sauce. god bless this secret sauce cause it makes this sandwich everything!!! I was full for the whole day and satisfied. What more do I need to say.

The amazing smells assault you as you walk in, and quickly kills any hungers you might have with THE Original. Everyone’s had the traditional Cuban sandwich, this is Jose Canseco — great taste on steroids and in your face. There’s even a secret sauce. The scent of garlic permeates this amazing local sub shop which began decades ago as a traditional Cuban Cafeteria and evolved into the maker of The Original. It’s an 8″ or 16″ sandwich on the lightest, fluffiest bread lovingly brushed with garlic butter. Rather than pressing the sandwich, they use an oven to cook the sandwiches open faced. The Sarussi Original substitutes mozzarella for swiss cheese. The thin sliced, slightly spicy ham is a counterpoint to the thick cuts employed in most Cuban sandwiches around town. Of course there’s a little roast pork — also thin sliced — with pickles. That which marries the whole mix after it’s been in the oven is a red, most likely tomato & vinegar based secret sauce. OMG! They’ll give you a squeeze bottle of the stuff if you ask. The ambience of the place is wonderful, it’s got a large bar countertop in the middle, and a room with tables and booths in the back that looks obviously added on after the original business outgrew the corner space. Photos of the customers adorn the walls. This Miami original is worth a visit to Flagami! Wow!

Eh. That pretty much sums up my experience at Sarussi. It’s always a pity to be disappointed in a restaurant that has such a cult following. I mean, Guy Fieri raved about this place. Then again, his restaurant is NYC is known to be lacking in many areas so maybe he is not one to be trusted when it comes to food knowledge. I arrived with my fiancé and my aunt, the latter of the two having wanted to check it out for quite some time. The parking lot was empty. Quite empty. First bad sign. We walk in. Empty. Another not so good sign. I was beginning to think«For a place that is supposedly so good, there sure are a lot of empty tables and seats.» We sat down and ordered from a not so knowledgable waitress. Got questions? Don’t ask. They don’t know. After trying to steer through the menu alone, I decided on the 8″ Sarussi Original and a papaya shake. I don’t remember what the others ordered. My shake came out quickly. It was a lovely pink color. One taste and sadness set in. Where was the papaya flavor? I tasted sugar. Not even a semblance of tropical fruit goodness. The sandwich arrived a few minutes later. It looked fairly nice. Lots of meat, gooey cheese, and shiny, greasy bread. The moment of truth had arrived. Would this be a truly earth shattering sandwich? I took my first bite bite. Nope. Not even a sparkle of happiness. I can’t describe to you the texture with any other words but dry and greasy. How they managed the two is beyond me. Dry and greasy. Especially with all the meat inside. The secret sauce was super acidic. Also not enjoyable. I get it. Acid helps cut the heaviness of all the meats. But you don’t need to use battery acid. Let’s not get crazy. I also got 0 potato sticks on my sandwich. The description in the menu said it came with potato sticks. So where were they? I called over our waitress and kindly asked her in Spanish«My sandwich doesn’t have any potato sticks on it. Can I just get a side of them, please?» She looked at me perplexed. Did I speak Finnish instead of Spanish? No. It was definitely Spanish. She told me she was going to ask. At this point, I was annoyed. What is there to ask? It’s supposed to have them inside. They’re not there. Just get them for me. 15 minutes later… no sticks. And no waitress either. Now it was time to go. I can tell you that even though I don’t remember the order of the others in my party, I do remember they were also left unsatisfied. A new waitress came around, brought us the check, and we left… never to return.

Not a bad place to come in for sandwiches. This place is clean including their women bathroom. Very spacious and comfortable, I came in on a Monday around noon and it was not as packed as I thought it would be. The only problem is parking, if you are going to park on the side, make sure you back in instead of pulling forward. Backing out is dangerous because of oncoming cars, plus it’s hard to see. I came in for the Cuban original sandwich(Man vs Food) with everything on it. I seriously did not taste the special sauce that everyone was raving about. I guess they put too little on. I also got a side of french fries and the smallest size they got is the size of the basket. The sandwich was very tasty, toasty on top with a brush of either butter or garlic glazed on top of the bread. I got the 8 inch sub which was the smallest, I didn’t finish it, had to take the other half home. They have other dishes and subs here as well, I will have to come back for those. The waitresses were very attentive!

How about a meal before the Ballgame? Sarussi? Yes! Had ordered two of the steak sarussi sandwich for 3 people To Go. It wasn’t very busy on the weekend only 3 other customers in the place. Service was prompt and friendly It tasted very good when hot. It seemed easier to eat since all of the ingredients were sliced thinner. Compared to the other sarussi on W 12th ave. We had only two slices as leftovers for the ride back home the taste was not as good as the flavors were a little diluted and cold and that can be said for any sandwich. A cast iron pan, toaster oven, flat iron press or panini might be the way to breath life back into a cold sarussi sandwich. Food :3 Ambiance :3 no more green and gold now a dark maroon and brown.
