Stopped by to see what all the hype was about. The ambiance and beer selection were pretty good. I had the Churrasco wet burrito which seemed exciting at the time. It was lukewarm and bland in flavor. I can see why this is a hot spot in Kendall, but for what this place tries to do, I would rather go to Wynwood. Dissapointing.

A quick update because they’ve moved into a larger space! They put so much hard work into it! It’s beautifully decked out with amazing murals and a stage area! They have Open — Mic nights and I can’t wait to attend one. They’re definitely pursuing the«culture» aspect they want to integrate!

Everything was perfect. Patacones were excellent as were the fries! I’m not sure exactly how they pickle the cabbage but WOW! Ended our meal with a free fried Oreo for posting on IG! Can’t wait to return.

Came here for first time yesterday, I ordered the T&T platter which was a great choice because it’s a sampler platter. I got to try chicken tacos, churrasco rellenos and quesadilla. My favorite were the tacos! I can’t wait to come back and eat some more. Oh and btw if you come here you MUST have the T&T Nutella donut. you’ll thank me later. The atmosphere was nice, very«hipster» and the service was great!

Best Mexican food I’ve ever had in South Florida. We arrived at 8 pm on a Tuesday night and there wasn’t a table to be had. They said the wait was 45 minutes and after finally getting to eat, it become very obvious why the place was so popular. Instead of waiting for a table, we ordered takeout which was about 30 minutes. Not terrible and it gave me a chance to see the décor and ambiance while waiting. This is the definition of a hole-in-the-wall and I mean that as compliment because in my experience these kind of places have the best food. It’s tiny(although my friends told me they recently upgraded to a bigger space due to demand) and I probably would have driven right on by if not for the recommendation of four different friends. They support local artists so as you can imagine this place is very«artsy»(definitely a hipster hangout). Lots of TVs if you’re trying to catch a game while you eat but trust me when the food arrives you won’t be able to concentrate on anything else. I ordered the T&T Platter which comes with 2 of everything(Churrasco rellenos, sampler cheese quesadillas & Chicken Taco). It was all so delicious but my favorite were the quesadillas. They were an explosion of flavor. Too good to describe. However, I tried a bite of someone else’s Crispy Patacon with pork and this was even better than what I ordered. It came with Queso Frito which I was told was their specialty. Do yourself a favor and get the Queso Frito(you can also order it as a side dish if you don’t get the Patacon). It is mouth watering. Fried cheese dipped in honey. Enough said.

So, I waited a long time to be back in Miami to visit the oh so popular Tacos and Tattoos… but honestly, I can’t figure out what the hype is all about. The food wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t very memorable… perhaps because with a half empty restaurant at 3pm on a Sunday the food took almost 90 minutes… & was lukewarm at best when it finally arrived. That was the WORST part: cold churrasco steak. 90 minutes for an order of 2 patacones and 2 tacos. «The kitchen is behind» was all the explanation provided. Still, I hope to give this place another shot given all the positive feedback & the nice prospect of a fun atmosphere and«good» food in suburbia.

My friends and I are big fans of tacos so we had to try out this cool place everyone has been talking about. All I can honestly say is that the experience was all around amazing and perfect! The service was exceptional. At no point did our table feel neglected, even though the restaurant was fairly packed when we were seated. Our server was very attentive and kind without being overwhelming at all. I don’t even think any of us ran out of water throughout the entire meal. On top of that, he provided us with spectacular recommendations. Having not ever been there, we all wanted to try and shared the patacon with queso frito and churrasco, which our server recommended right off the bat. It was so freakin good. All its flavors blended perfectly between the salty crunchiness of the toston, the sweetness of their slaw and sauces, and the epicness of the big slice of queso frito. True bliss. Our server then brought us tostones rellenos that the kitchen accidently made extra so they were free of charge!(God bless his soul.) They were awesome. My friends kept calling them platanito cupcakes but they tasted like little cups of heaven. Another perfect tasting dish. As for our entres, each of us went with what our server recommended which was The House Jibarrito and added sweet plantains and queso frito into the burrito. I didn’t have with the queso frito but one of my friends did and she was in love. Either way you win. I also asked for a side of their amazing, sweet cilantro sauce. The Jiburrito was dope as hell and a perfect portion which I was worried about since we had shared two other plates. The maduros(sweet plantains) in the burrito was insanity. I’ve never tasted anything like it and I can’t wait until I do again! Then, for checking in on Facebook, each of us got a free fried Oreo which, being obsessed with Oreos myself, I found to be the perfect end to a perfect meal. Needless to say, I will for sure be back soon to try more. Buuuuut will probably get the churrasco Patacon again

After having heard many great things about this place I finally decided to have lunch here with my aunt. Now I should advise you, they started with a small restaurant but have recently expanded in the same shopping center. Their restaurant is now located in the corner of the plaza & where they first opened up is now a bar/waiting area. Here they hold private parties & serve as a waiting area, but you can still eat here as well. So when my aunt & I ordered, we decided to share our plates since we couldn’t decide on just one plate for each of us. The waitress suggested the crispy patacon, with queso frito, & the burrito with platanitos in it. Just writing about it is making my mouth watery, & as you can tell it’s not your average taco shop. It has an island taste to it which gives each plate a unique taste. While I was eating the burrito I literally gasped when I reached the platanito because it was THAT delicious. The patacon was also paired off great with the queso frito, I highly recommend it. As for desserts, because I couldn’t help myself, I had the fried oreo’s with ice cream, no regrets. Post your dessert plate on ig & it’s complimentary! This place was so good I came back two days later & had the chicken quesadillas with platanitos, OOF. Those platanitos give Mexican food a whole new taste that you won’t find anywhere else. Highly recommend this little gem.

I wish that I could write a good review about this place because it looked really interesting online. I was attending an event at Miami Dade college and told all of my friends that we should eat there after, only to find out that at three in the afternoon their doors were closed and we had to find somewhere else to eat! I was very surprised since I checked and double checked their open times. Either way our group had a good time at Rocco’s tacos in Fort Lauderdale… Maybe next time the restaurant will be open when they say they are open, I should not have to call to verify when Unilocal and their website says what time they are serving food.

Tacos and Tattoos is a hipster taco joint in the heart of Kendall. It has a cool vibe that is very casual with graffiti art on the walls. They just recently moved two doors down into a much larger location, but are keeping the original location as a «taco joint». From what I understand, their original location will be open simultaneously at night to serve tacos and beer for a quick bite or while you are waiting for a table. Cool idea! What I like about Tacos and Tattoos: –It is a small business that is operated by a tight knit group. I see the same people every time I go. –The ambience is fun and the wall art is great eye candy. –I’ve been here three times and mostly everything has been tasty! I love the tacos, churrasco rellenos, and the patacon. –Service is casual but fast and efficient. What could be better about Tacos and Tattoos: –I HATE the fact that they utilize plastic cups and silverware. I’m a bit of a tree hugger and for a restaurant to utilize throw aways is a huge waste. Invest in some glassware, silverware and a dishwasher… –I’m a huge chips and salsa fan(it has become a problem) and for a taco joint I feel their salsa is lacking excitement. It is more like a watery tomato sauce. I would add some texture to it! The chips are tasty though! –The seating is borderline uncomfortable. It is all benches and metal chairs. Soft seating or cushioned chairs would be a plus. –It would also be nice to see a rotating«specials» menu. Maybe a taco of the day? The menu is delicious but when you could here often it gets limited. All in all, I think this restaurant has high hopes. I can’t wait to see what comes next. I highly suggest checking this place out.

This place is a hidden gem tucked away in Sable Chase. It’s located in a small corner of a neighborhood strip mall. Inside is not very big but just enough to not feel cramped. There is also a small bar with first come first served seating. I opted to sit at the bar as I don’t enjoy sitting around for a table & I know getting a bartender’s attention who is 3 feet away at all times can be easier than looking around for a server. John helped us out & got us some tasty beers while we checked out the menu. Miami Weiss on tap was a great way to start my T&T experience. We went for a few tacos & ordered some nachos as an entrée. Everything was fresh & flavorful. For dessert, we got the deep fried Oreos which were on point! Would I return? Yes!

Kind of disappointed to drop this rating from a perfect score, but since my first review six months ago I haven’t received the same quality service or food from the past few trips I’ve made there. They just moved to a new location, which is definitely more spacious and comfortable from the other location; however, it seems like the food is being prepared differently. The guacamole doesn’t «pop» anymore and the chicken from the chicken tacos tastes almost like that Vienna canned sausage(it definitely didn’t taste like that before). Also, the service… on my first visit here the waiter was very friendly and attentive. He brought us what we needed and there was no waving him down. The past few visits have definitely been a challenge and I’ve held off on writing a review in case it was an off day(or three). It takes a lot to get a waiter’s attention and you’re stuck waiting to place an order or ask for additional items(when they finally come to take our initial drink order we are already ready to order the meal) to the point you almost want to leave. I feel bad my boyfriend(who I ranted and raved to about this place) only comes because he knows I really enjoyed it the first time, not because he ever experienced that great service and food! I know I definitely had a lot to say and four stars is still high, but I have faith this place can get back to what it was! Plus it’s still a fun atmosphere and a vibe that reminds me of the places I went to when I lived in New York(nostalgiaaaaa)! Hopefully, my next few visits go smoother so it doesn’t reach a 3. Once I hit three stars I usually don’t bother making special trips for a restaurant(and this one is a 20 minute, special trip!).

I’ve been eyeing this place for a while and so curious after reading the endless 4 and 5 star reviews. Finally, figuring it would be crazy on a Saturday, I thought if I show up by six, I’ll beat the crowd. Yeah, I thought wrong. Regardless, what a great sign of things to come. We had to wait a bit, but after about 30 minutes, our turn arrived. We found the prices were very reasonable along with a very nice selection of protein to go with your choice of flour or crispy taco shells. Even a tofu option for strict vegans. I thought for my first visit, I’ll be safe and order the flour shells and tried both the portabella mushroom and shrimp tacos. Upon my first bite of each taco, all I can say is I had a serious, taste bud party! The tacos were flavorful, meaty and delicious. My other half also expressed the same response. It was so good, he even ordered another. As a side note, the beer selection is extensive and most, priced very well. Also, it feels like a party atmosphere, with loud salsa/merengue music playing. Regardless, it’s at a level that you can talk with each other. Now, you may ask…4 stars? Really, I would have only knocked off half a star if I could. I can’t give them a full 5 stars because the service was a bit off on many levels. In all fairness, maybe it was a bad night? Maybe someone called out sick. Anything is possible. Food, a full five stars in my book. If service improves, I’ll definitely update my review in the future. What ever you do, do not expect authentic Mexican… and that is actually a great thing. This is a very hip, cool fusion of Miami meets Mexican food with a fun flair. Have no expectation of service, pack a bit of patience and it will be well worth it. Regardless, the employees seem nice and just trying to catch a breath. Loved the experience and they will certainly have a repeat customer… me!!!

Overall: I just wasn’t impressed with T&T. The Unilocal definition of 3 *s nails it: A-OK. Here are my thoughts: — Ambiance is cool, very hipster/biker/dive bar-esque. — Place wasn’t packed when we were seated; but once we were and people piled in, our server was scarcely around to top off water, etc. Even when she was, she forgot and only realized when she swung by the table again later and had that«Oh crap, water!» face, lol. This was a bummer because they have *so many* servers around. I’m not sure what step in the process is lacking, but for the number of seats available and the # of servers around, you’d anticipate more timely service. — I had the Chicken Quesadilla, which was good. The hubs got the Churrasco Dinner Bowl. He said the meat was beautiful, so yay for that. BUT! We also ordered the Churrasco California Love Fries. I am soooo disappointed with these fries! They were utterly bland. For $ 15, I’d hoped that the fries would be savory or well-seasoned with tender slices of churrasco. :(Nope. Sooo, yeah. Overall, not a place I’d have a craving to go visit again. Was OK.

Definitely more hype than the experience they delivered. After reading up on some of the reviews I decided to try it out with the family. Located in a small plaza off some of the main roads, tucked in the corner you’ll find Tacos & Tattoos. Sunday night at 8:30pm this place was filled to the brim with wait times of over 45 mins. Our party of six waited outside to be called in, finally at 9:10pm we were sat down. The metal seats are not comfortable specially if you’re a bigger person, you’ll feel them cut into your hips(my cousins boyfriend which is NOT big at all also complained about the seats) I sat on the benches on the wall, slightly more space. We all placed are orders within minutes of being seated, within minutes complimentary chips & watered down sweet salsa were brought out. Our waiter did bring a couple small sides of pico de gallo & a small sample of the guac. The chips needed more salt whilst the salsa needed to be more like salsa than soup. After about 15 mins the waiter comes to the table to inform me that they were out of pork(I ordered 2 pork tacos) so I had them substitute 1 for chicken &1 for shrimp. First out of the kitchen was my Churrasco Patacon with fried queso. This was a giant fried plantain topped with deliciousness, it was probably one of the best things I ordered. Im not 100% sure what was on it since the lighting was pretty dim where we were sat. Next up came my tacos, yet the kitchen sent out 2 chicken tacos instead of 1 chicken, 1 shrimp… Kind of disorganized. I was able to try the Churrasco, Chicken & the shrimp taco this evening. They’re solid tacos, not my favorite but tasty. Better than Taco Bell & Chipotle by far but each taco lacked a certain kick that makes it a great taco. When it came time to pay we waited for a while at the table and finally decided to get up & pay by the door. The waiter didn’t charge me for the shrimp taco which was pretty cool of them. Pros: Hip spot, great for college students or anyone on a budget. Beer is available. Cons: Very disorganized, long wait times for food(Cousin waited till we were almost all done with our food to get her burrito)

I never ever Unilocal while eating but I feel like I must in this case to get a record of the pure awesomeness that is tacos and tattoos. The spot is hip and perfectly sized(if you get here early enough to get a table, which we did) the music was on point and had people nodding their heads as soon as they entered. We were greeted as soon as we say and at first I found the menu off putting. Small in fact but, I realize these people do what they do right and only offer what they have perfected. Service was expeditious. No complaints here. Super friendly wait staff. The California love fries with surf and turf were French fries cooked to the perfect crispness do they could be covered with cheese and the(most amazing) slaw which had the perfect amount of acid added for my taste. Not a fan of slaw that is too sweet or too creamy. This hit the spot. Ordered as an appetizer and shared between two. My companion ordered guacamole and was told that they didn’t have any at the moment because it was being made. As soon as it was finished the offered to bring it out to the table. Worth the wait. Chunky and(obviously) fresh. The tacos have the same amazing slaw as the fries and come with a choice of taco shell and protein. Excellent as well. Had to order Patacon with queso Frito after reading everyone’s review… Holy cow they weren’t kidding. Tender chicken and a sweetness that apparently is the honey and the super slaw again. Pretty close to heaven on a plate. I was worried that with all the toppings the Patacon would be soggy. Not so. They have some kind of magic going on here because what should have been a soggy mess with crispy, the dish balanced and a perfect portion. More please. If this place is supposed to be reminiscent of a backyard bbq at their house I think I need a new bestie. These guys know how to throw a yard party! I did want more but I’m holding out for the dessert. A fair favorite of mine. The fried Oreos– if they nail this, I’ve found my new favorite spot. And I’m a hard chick to please. Stand by… Nailed it. Dough to cookie ratio was right on. Served hot and dusted with powdered sugar Oreo goodness melted on my mouth. Took me back to the fair and sure I could have eaten more… But I didn’t want to explode so I stopped myself. Thank you taco and tattoo gods. I shall return. With friends. Suggestions: They should have merch/swag. I would absolutely have bought a tee shirt. Just saying… And maybe a kids menu that the kids could color or something. Not a big deal but might have helped the mother next to me calm her screaming child… Maybe.(Even that couldn’t kill the happy feeling in my belly).

Wednesday night was a great night for Tacos and Tattoos as well as Wynwood Brewery and South Florida beer week to bring their taps to T & T. As usually great music playlist, great Nachos and dip. And just discovered a fantastic chicken burrito with a bit of a kick as a side item you can apply to their burrito. The rice within the burrito was so moist it was reminiscent of a nice Paella and had mentioned it to the employee that check led up on our satisfaction. To those who other Unilocalers mentioning long wait times, I agree and while I chilled waiting for a table with some Wynood Brewery Fox beer and La Rubia beer, I learned they are opening another location just two doors down and will their be the new location for their restaurant while the original location will be a bar. Terrific decision and preliminary pics posted. I’ll certainly be back at Tacos and Tattoos! As for Wednesday night event, the $ 1.00 off local drafts as well as their buy 2 beers, get a free Wynwood Brewery souvenir glass was a nice touch. I will probably change the stars to 5 in the future when their restaurant opens. While it’s laid back while waiting for a table, if you’re hungry you will have to wait for a table or ask for nachos while munching away sitting on bar stools, at the bar, or the bench at the front which I saw. At least it’s laid back good cross conversation with strangers. The Ad for the event:

I’ve been holding off on my Tacos and Tattoos review for a bit, because I didn’t want to get overzealous and start shouting, «Best tacos ever,» without sufficient evidence. I am now, however, ready to declare, «Best tacos ever!» Contrary to popular belief, Tacos and Tattoos does not offer tattoos. They do, however, offer delicious tacos, a semi-loud but simultaneously laid-back atmosphere, and a few other things on the menu(burritos, yummy desserts, etc.). I’ve eaten the chicken, tofu, and portobello tacos, all on a flour tortilla. They also offer corn tortillas and crispy shells. They’re topped with the ubiquitous offerings, like tomato, but also include cotija cheese, red cabbage, and pineapple. It’s this sweet and savory mélange that really hooked me. T&T has a few local beers on tap, and tons of bottles, both Floridian and out of state. You can even just sit at the bar if you wanted. Dessert is worth it. They’re big on their fried oreos, which come 3 to an order with a little ball of vanilla ice cream. I wanted to take a nap after eating them. The flan was good, with a very creamy custardy consistency. They do tend to be closed on holidays and have lunch and dinner hours separated by a few hours. There are only about 5 – 6 tables inside, a bar with a few seats, and a few outside tables that fill up quickly. Plan accordingly. Service can get a bit slow at times, but the servers are always nice and friendly when they’re able to get to you. Being a native Kendall-ite, and living within walking distance of this place, there’s a slight sense of pride in having a hot, small business right in Sabal Chase. Given it’s popularity, I hope it lasts.

So my gal pal was saying we needed to stop by this«hipster taco place» on our way back from Miami, and I was like, «Girl, you had me at hipster.» Considering how busy it was at 2PM and the fact that they’re kind of in the middle of nowhere, you know it has to be good. The décor is full of random art, but it’s got a nice zesty vibe of young talent. We lucked out in that there happened to be a free table. For an appetizer, they had some house nachos and salsa for us while we took our time to order. My friend got the churrasco burrito which had a delicious green sauce with it. I was about to get tacos or tostones, but when I looked around, everyone seemed to have this heaping pile of toppings on a pancaked shaped vehicle. I learned this was a patacon, which I’ve never had before, so of course, I decided to order it, because eating is an adventure. According to the internet, a patacon and tostone are synonymous so I’ll have to ask the waiters and hosts next time on how they differentiate. I ordered the pork patacon with queso frito and it was the perfect amount of food. Even though the queso frito is an extra 2 dollars, it was totally worth it. When they fry that cheese, it’s about 0.75 cm thick so it makes the meal a little heftier. Anyone who knows me or reads my reviews will probably know that I am a fan of larger portion sizes because I have a big appetite and a hollow leg. Also, if you check in on social media and show them, they’ll bring you a free dessert of a fried oreo, so it’s a small treat for the dessert stomach. The bathroom is in the corner. The light is inside by the sink. The switch to the left of the bathroom is for free screams. I watched 2 people accidentally hit that switch first before going to the bathroom. Hilarious. Overall, I’ll definitely come back. My only request is if this place can move itself a little more north so I can frequent more often. Or maybe that’s a good thing for my waistline.
