The Embassy is very close to my house at first I thought that this would be the local watering hole for me and my roommates! then I started to notice that the Embassy has very strange business hours sometimes when they list that they’ll be open they’re not and then other times they’re open when they list that they shouldn’t be? This is because the manager will allow the restaurant to stay open if everybody’s having a good time and buying alcohol which is super cool and then when nobody’s inside the restaurant he’ll just close down which is understandable. it is literally a mom and pop shop and I’m very much obsessed with it. they have craft beers on tap and in bottles they have a wide selection of wines and also if you go late night they have all of the appetizers ready for you on plates and they’re covered in sanitary and everything and all you have to do is pick one up and put it on a plate that you want and that means that you bought it. Aka great idea for this girl. These grab-and-go appetizers are about $ 5 each my beer was 7 $ then I got a domestic which was 5 $ my roommates glass of wine was 6 dollars

Cute cozy place good music. Reminds me of downtown NY café. Nice tasty dish can use little more creation. They sell home-made jams and preserve, which makes interesting décor! I recommend.

I’m kind of torn on this review. if it were for the company, Chef Allen and generally friendly service it would easily be five stars. I also like the fact that a lot of the herbs and seasonings are grown in the garden and look fresh. The food has a lot of potential as well but there are a few things that need some improvement. I’ll start with the positive. I liked the cauliflower app my friend ordered. It was a new flavor for me and the melted cheese made it very edible. The same for the roasted chicken I ordered was flavorful and juicy with enough meat to enjoy. The chocolate dessert I ordered, after being told the Panna cotta I was looking forward to wasn’t ready, was sweet without being overwhelmingly so and the fruit garnish was delicious as well if a bit on the small size for the price. Another minor setback was the black olive mashed potato. The purée itself was tasty but I requested the olives being taken off, and I ended up having to do it myself. Though the fries were complementary and had a nice presentation, they were heavy on the salt for my preference. My friend echoed the same sentiment about her order We didn’t stay around for the live music but the restaurant looks nice and cozy, perfect for a jazz evening. The middle east décor is nice as well. I’m rooting for them to fix the aforementioned issues so we can return!

I finally went in to say HI to Alan, which I have know for a long time in his latest«production» and I was greeted by a friendly waitress and treated to a lovely Oxtail with fried sage and polenta and with a Prosciutto & Cantaloupe appetizer, both really palatble. I went early so the place was calm, I know there is live music later on and I enjoyed my meal and will go back to try other dishes, Another YES for Alan!!! Good Work!!!

I wish I could give this place a better rating. I really do. I want to support a local business, but I also have to be honest. I’ve visited The Embassy several times throughout the years, and it just can’t seem to get it right. First visit: I heard about this place from a reliable source, and as I said before, I like to support local businesses. I planned a surprise birthday here(13 guests total). I spoke with the chef twice prior to the party. We talked about the budget, the menu, and the date and time. On the night of the party, my guests arrived and the staff had no idea what was going on. The chef was not there until AFTER the celebrant arrived. The tables weren’t set up to accommodate our group. When I asked about the menus, the chef told me that his printer was broken. We spoke twice prior to the dinner and he knew about this weeks ahead of time. Not acceptable. The service was bad, but the food was good, so I decided to give it another shot. Second visit: This place has THEBEST french fries in town, so I ordered the herb fries as an appetizer and the sun-flower seed crusted salmon as my main dish. I had some of the fries, then the salmon arrived. The salmon was perfectly cooked and my fries were excellent. The only bad part of this visit was that by the time I got to the bottom of the fries, there was a dead moth at the bottom. :-( Third, Fourth, and Fifth visit: Food was good, the service was lacking. Don’t let my bad experiences prevent you from trying this place. The food isn’t the issue. If you don’t mind unpredictable service and questionable hygiene practices, try it out. Again, the food is good. A dear friend, who happens to be Unilocal Royalty, had a great experience. Support a local business. I hope you have better luck than I do.

We went on a Thursday night. It was not packed which was great for us! We ordered the octopus and some tomato and goat cheese something for appetizers. Both were amazing! For dinner we ordered the risotto, the Milanese and the herb fries. Honestly, it was great!!! Veryyyy good, all three of them. Dessert we had the coconut tapioca and the chocolate mousse cake. So good! Décor was cool, the chef Alan was superrrr nice and our waitress christina was very nice and gave us a great service. We heard that on Fridays and Saturdays they have live music. I truly recommend this place.

The hole in the wall is more of a bar that also serves tapas than a restaurant, which is strange because their food is excellent and a far cry from bar food. I went on a Friday night and the whole place was packed with dudes screaming at the soccer match on TV. If you’re going with a group, you definitely need reservations, because there are only a few tables. No happy hour deals, food is moderately priced with somewhat small portions. Chef Alan wasn’t there but those girls were throwing down in the kitchen. They cooked me perhaps the most perfect salmon filet I ever had. Moist, flaky, well seasoned, with crunchy sunflower seeds on top. I loved the caramelized onion topping, but it didn’t need them. I was worried the crispy bok choy would be an oily fried mess, as you usually get at other restaurants, but it wasn’t fried or greasy at all. It was very lightly cooked to retain its crunch, and more acidic than anything, kind of like a slaw or sauerkraut. I inhaled that plate. The dessert menu reads very French, with cremeux and verrines. I am not a big fan of custardy, cream based desserts, so I ordered the chocolate mousse cake, which was delicious. Soft layer of chocolate cake topped with the perfect light and fluffy milk chocolate mousse, then the whole thing is covered in dark chocolate ganache. $ 9 seems a lot for a small dessert, but it was so rich that it didn’t need to be larger. That said, I wish they offered at least one warm dessert. There is a gated parking lot behind the building, across from The District. you have to call the Embassy and they will buzz you in.

This place is awesome! This is one of the few places with live music in the neighborhood and I love the décor and the neighborhood-bar vibe. They offer a very good selection of quality wines and beers and have a 2 for 1 happy hour deal that simply can’t be ignored. I was pleasantly surprised with their food too. I ordered cream corn and beef empanadas(let me tell ya, your favorite empanada place has nothing on them), octopus bruschetta and milanesa with mashed potatoes. They were out of milanesa and recommended us to get yellowtail with eggplant purea and bok choy but still charged us the price of the milanesa, which was extremely nice of them. The fish was so delicate and delicious that I would have ordered another one if I hadn’t been stuffing myself with fries for the whole dinner. The staff is friendly and attentive. I would definitely become a honorary customer of this place because i don’t see a single reason not to!

The atmosphere was awesome. All the employes were amazing to be around so much fun, and the food was great! The 2 for 4 $ empanadas special was amazing, home cooked meal. Best I’ve ever had. Defiantly coming back!

Very Pleasantly Surprised! I was a bit wary after seeing a couple of the previous reviews, but our party of six was taken care of by William and the service and recommendations he offered were excellent. The food was brought out promptly, it was hot, and it all was uniquely tasty. The mashed potatoes that accompanied the roast chicken was worthy of its own plate. Alan Hughes came out of the kitchen to speak with us and explain how some of our dishes were being prepared. Our whole dinner experience was enjoyable. We will be back.

I can give this a 2 based on the food. The quality was good, the preparation was respectable and it was definitely good. HOWEVER(that is BOLD, UNDERLINED, and LARGERFONT), The service is completely inept, they have NOCLUE. We where greeted by an apology as our waiter asked us to be patient due to a lack of MENUS!.(Oh — there where 7 total customers in the restaurant, including our party of 3) He took a bit to get our order and really had no interest in communicating; we ordered a bottle of wine which he poured like a frat party pitcher. The first thing we ordered the server tells us they are out; my only thought was … «you mean to tell me that we are here, at 7PM on a saturday night, there are only 4 other people in the establishment, the item we are ordering is handwritten on the chalk board, and you dont have any — How does that work? «(my thoughts) At this point we lost our faith and ordered only appetizers. Upon receiving our appetizers i had to raise my hand to get eye contact from any of the 3 employees in the front of the house attending to 7 total guests. I asked for olive oil and a pepper mill. The young lady trying to help me who barely understood me all the while chewing gum(WTF) proceeds to tell me that they don’t own a pepper mill(a foreign concept i guess) and i receive miniature pitcher of olive oil in the type of container you get the creamer at the bagel shop, NOBUENO. Furthermore, My futile attempts at getting the attention of the server this whole time are ignored because of his immediate need to address all the text messages he was receiving. At one point we had not received one item and where too frustrated so we asked for the check and told him to cancel the last item. he leaves goes to the kitchen, then walks by without acknowledging the last question nor giving feedback to the questions. 2 minutes later, he shows up with the last dish and the check. Shame on you Owner/Manager, you only get one chance to make a first impression and the individuals making it for you have absolutely no clue how to represent your business, sell your food, and make sure your clientele has a positive experience. In the hospitality world, you have to be accountable, i think there is no one home here!!! The dining continues…

The reason i give such a low rating is because of the service. Bad, bad, BAD!!. First, the food was good. We had a few appetizers and i found them to be well prepared and good flavors. We did not ordered entrees since we did not want to eat dinner there after the terrible service we had. The décor was very quaint and nice, the set up of this place could be conducive to a great meal and experience if they actually had a competent staff. But at this pace, they simply can’t compete in Miami. The story: There were 3 of us, we had reservations but the restaurant had only another table when we got there so got seated right away, the chairs were not the most comfortable as they had no backing and actually our backs were against some flower pots. Weird. They should definitely add better chairs. There were 3 or 4 people working the front of the restaurant, one at the bar and the other ones i assume are waitresses/waiter. We had a young lady sit us and she looked all disheveled. Her hair was on her face the whole time and we thought this was kind of distracting. But i digress, when our waited came to our table he brought us 1 menu. He apologized and proceeded to tell us they have a «shortage of menus». Hmmmm really?. He actually took this menu from the other table next to us and gave it to us. I asked him why did they have a shortage of menus and he said he did not know. Mind you, there was just one more table there besides us, it was a table with 4 people. Now, what kind of restaurant has a shortage of menus??. It was very odd. Anyway, we ordered a bottle of wine and a few appetizers to try out a few things. The cheese platter was good, and the serrano ham tasted more like prosciutto than serrano. We had also ordered the fries which were ok, and the roasted tomatoe with goat cheese which never came out. My husband kept asking the waiter for pepper and he never came back with it, finally we asked another waitress and she proceeded to bring him a pepper shaker. We were all like:” Don’t you have a pepper mill?”. She barely spoke english and had obviously never heard of a pepper mill or had no idea what it was, so we explained to her that it is for fresh pepper and she said No, we don’t have that. Another point deducted on this place. Not a proper pepper mill?. C’mon. Not only that, but all the staff seemed like there were out of it, almost like they were stoned or something, i kid you not. After that we asked also for olive oil, again, we asked one of the ladies since our waiter dissapeared(my husband saw him texting on his cell phone) and this girl comes back with olive oil in a container for cream for a coffee. They did not have olive oil dispensers either! Is this a joke… We wanted to leave at this point, not only are they high or at least look like they are, the have no menus, no fresh pepper, not even a container for olive oil, but they dissappear and did not bring the roasted tomatoe appetizer that we asked for. When our waiter finally came back to our table, we asked him what had happened to the tomato appetizer, that it never came out and to please forget it because we needed to leave. He just ignored us, didn’t even apologized or anything, went back to kitchen i assume to cancel the order, and didn’t even come back to our table but after a few minutes brought us the tomatoe appetizer. We did try it, as we were still hungry and it was very tasty, so that was a plus. We couldn’t wait to get out of there fast enough. Too bad the staff is so bad, otherwise they could have potential as a restaurant. Re-think employee training and get some people in there that actually know what they are doing and this may have a shot. For now, i don’t think they will ever make it if they keep this staff. I appreciate good service and wouldn’t want to spend $ in a place that doesn’t know how to treat their patrons. Stay away. I am certainly not coming back.

Overall, before I got the check, I really felt like this was a four. However, at the end of our meal a couple things happened that left a bad taste in my mouth: –We were charged $ 4 for«a pitcher of water». Mind you, it wasn’t a sealed water bottle, it was just a large glass jug like they usually set on your table for free at any other place. I’ve seen the $ 1 charge for water before, and even though that kind of bugs me it’s $ 1. I felt like $ 4 was kind of crazy, especially because they didn’t mention it at the beginning. –Gratuity was included. Now I totally get this on South Beach which is crawling with tourists(who in all fairness rarely tip enough), but in Buena Vista? Something else that really should’ve been disclosed at the beginning of the meal. That’s not to say I won’t come back. The décor, music, and food were all pretty great. I had the Baked Cauliflower Risotto and I found it to be a very unique and delicious dish. I munched on some of the herb fries and those were quite tasty too. Even though I thought the portions were a bit on the small side, I do feel like you’re getting high quality food for the price. Everyone here was also overwhelmingly friendly. Really hospitable service. Verdict: take note of the things above, so that a nice meal here won’t be ruined by unpleasant surprises.

I went here with high hopes after reading an article on . We had: eggplant trio: totally unimpressed. it was greasy and really had no flavor beyond the one variation that included a sardine duck confit: nothing special we did have one other dish — but i have to admit I dont remember what it was even though it was the only one I enjoyed. The chef was there — but he seemed more interested to joke with his«friends» who were eating there and stroking his ego than he did in assessing how the other patrons were. When the crowd came for the blues band the vibe totally changed. I would give it another try — but with lowered expectations. There were some other things on the menu that seemed interesting. I do like the idea of the place and happy to see more places like that popping up — but overall it left me unimpressed and annoyed — sorry.

I’d had high hopes for this restaurant when my wife and I set up a [now rare] date night, having arranged babysitting. Unfortunately it was a fairly disappointing experience. The food was simply alright, the beer and wine options were quite limited, and service was SLOW. I’m in no rush to go back. Oh, and I like«herbed» French fries as much as the next guy, but having to pick out all those twigs and leaves from mine was just plain annoying. And I understand a chef wanting to stand by the authenticity of his food, but come on, if you’re going to offer mayonnaise for them, then allow us barbaric Americans to have our ketchup too.

Hubs and I visited last week on our way back from dinner for a quick drink. I was excited because it’s a new spot in our little neighborhood. Great prices on the PBA’s, some wine offering too. There is yummy food availble. Small dishes and a Tapas type bar on the counter to choose from. Spanish type vibe. Live music is available however the band was not playing when we visited. Sign noted they would soon be offering Brunch too! I’ll update after my next full visit. One tip, try to park in the lot behind the building because the neighbors are not into you creeping up on their lawn.

Went to The Embassy today and all i can say is oh my God! great food, wine, environment and ambiance! glad to see spots opening up like this in that neighborhood! Its a tapas style of place so dont go there thinking you will be getting copious amount of food! you get there get a bottle of wine relax with good company and let the night go by with out you even noticing. Our fav dish was the eggplant trio, awesome display with an even better taste! the bruschetta style tapas was great. it was help your self but they do fill you up, i found out the hard way. The service was amazing, the chef greeted us and treated us like family! cant wait to go back!
