Trail Glades Gun Range

Came here Sunday morning, and really liked the set up. They have a brief safety class you are required to take if you’ve out of practice for a while. I know they have one at 10 a.m. and another at 11 a.m. As other posters have mentioned, it’s an outdoor range with pistol and rifle lanes. Nice people working there, too. I’m a fan, and will be back!

I go here for trap/​skeet. I really like that they have wobble available.
As a woman, they’re very friendly and come here roughly every two weeks. So it’s pretty inviting. I first came here to try out skeet, I enjoyed it and felt comfortable as trail glades being my range.
As other reviews have said, it’s not fancy but it’s cheap and friendly. During the week it’s $ 5 a round and weekends it’s about $ 7 a round. Rentals are available here too. The throwers tally up your hits and tell you at the end of the round, they also help you out and give you tips. What I really like is that there’s no appointment needed, and it’s basically the only trap/​skeet in Miami. They sell shells pretty expensive though, so buy on your own time. If you’re renting, you of course, must use their ammo.
Basically, it’s a range in the Everglades by Dade-​County. So it will never be fancy, but it’s gotten much better. It’s also, very affordable. Highly recommended.

Great place, the range is outdoors, there safety program is adequate. Everybody that works there has a great sense of customer service. I go there every week.

Not the fanciest range in the world but with the renovations they did a couple of years ago it sure is great. Very inexpensive to shoot skeet and trap or just regular range. They do make you take a safety course which lasts anywhere from 15 – 30 min but it’s nothing out of this world. You would be amazed at some of the imbeciles that you see out on the range that take the safety course and still have not learned. Other than that, you can shoot anywhere from 10 – 100 yds with a range cost of $ 12 or do skeet and trap for $ 6 a round on the weekdays and $ 8 a round on the weekend.

I’ve gone several times to this range and even way before their upgrade 4 years back.
Unilocal says that is not good for kids but they do allow 10yrs. and older to take the safety course, shoot or to be trained to use firearms.
Even though this range is limited to 100 yds; it’s ideal for sighting your firearms and teaching others the sport of shooting.
Considering that this is part of Dade County parks, the amenities are decent and you can’t beat the price.
The fields are well groomed, restrooms are very close to the shooting lanes. they also have water and drink vending machines. They also have a store which can supply you with needed shooting items and also a Skeet range (which I never used).
I see several previous comments such as:
«I don’t need to take a shooting course because I have a concealed weapon’s license» or «The range master and staff are rude» which really needs to be taken as a grain of salt.
It’s not a shooting course that you need to take. It’s a 10−15min. safety and rule implementation class, needed when acquiring a «Patron Identification Card» issue to you prior to using their facilities. You only take it once for the duration of the 3 year prior to expiring and the issuance of another card. From personal experience, this class is fundamental for keeping critical accidents from occurring and this brings me to the «so called rudeness».
I could only assume that if you’ve experienced the staff rudely yelling at you, it’s probably because you have done one of the «DON’TS» printed in black and white with your signature on it on a waiver and revised to you by an instructor on that safety class. In short, if you have issues following rules or have short/​long term memory loss then you will be rudely yelled at.
I for one, enjoy this facility and appreciate the work that the staff does, every single time I go.

It’s not the fanciest gun range you will ever visit. Let’s face it, this is about as basic as you can get. There are no frills at this range. The things that I like about this range is that it is inexpensive and you can spend pretty much as much time as you like here. They have plenty of lanes so it is not likely you will have to wait for a lane. They are very focused on safety and there are always several range masters walking around watching everyone to make sure that they are obeying the safety rules. They are very controlled at this range so you will need to adhere to the cease fire schedule which can be a little annoying when you want to shoot and not have to wait for everyone and get the lanes cleared, but it does provide a safer environment. They also require everyone to take a safety class the first visit. The class is offered at the top of every hour so if you have never been before, make sure that you go before the top of the hour so you can take the safety class and then get out on the range. It is outdoors so you get fresh air and don’t have to breathe in lead or have as much noise as you do with an indoor range. Although, being outdoors and in Miami, it can be quite hot or humid and thunderstorms will result in a cease fire on the range.

The shooting range was really nice for only five dollars you could 25 clays for either trap or skeet and for nine dollars you can spend all day at the range if you have the ammo for it

Great range, bring your ammo, save some $$$, range is great you can shoot 25 yards, 50 yards and 100 yards, great to zeroing in your scopes and holographic sights, you need to take a 15 min class to learn the Range rules, they start every hour on the hour so get there early, staff was very professional and always have safety first in mind, nothing better than shooting outdoors !!! Recommended !!!

I have gone here numerous times. Never had any problems with staff or anything. Just follow their rules and you have no problems.
I see people breaking rules all the time there like going to the shooting podium to check their weapons after a cease fire has been called. You are supposed to be away from your weapon at this time so you can go down range to check your target. Then people want to get mad when they are yelled at. If you can’t understand the rules go back to the indoor range.
You must also take a safety class your first time there which is all of about 10 minutes. 9.00 for all day shooting should you want to can’t be beat 1.00 targets. Only things that sucks is you can’t have a target shaped like a human at all just round targets.

I’ve been to ranges in NY, CT and now FL. Of all the ranges I visited and shot at, this is the most scenic. Likely because the grass gets to stay green all year and the ventilation system is fresh air, haha. It was my first time shooting my 9 mm, and the staff descended with advice. All good! Not one bit of advice was wasted. I went from shooting on the 1s and 2s of the top and bottom left to 9s and 10s. Through the duration of my visit, a few people let me try out their 9 mm. The staff member Evan even let me try out his 45cal. Overall, this is a beautiful range with sensible rules. By the way, there’s nothing wrong with a 20min refresher course on safety ;)

The staff is a bit rude to address people. The facilities are a bit old and every 15 minutes there is a recess for long distance shooters look at their targets. The good thing is the price and no waiting

It’s a very nice range but many of the people working here are major assholes. Apparently at some point in time they got it in their heads that being rude and abusive to the clients equals safety… and it’s only gotten worse with time. I don’t think I’ll be going back.

I love this place, they are very severe over security which is important for me.
I go every Sunday and play trap.
I recommend this place to everyone

So you have to take a course to shoot here? Even if you have a firearms license? I don’t think so, friends.
Oh and people here are mad rude too. Going to aces.

In keeping with boyfriend’s birthday activities, I planned to take him trap shooting at Trail Glades Gun Range with some of his buds. We get there, check in, and head out to the field.
«I don’t teach girls and will only let experienced men shoot»
WTF?! I really wish I was a trained assassin at that moment because I could have done without his chauvinist attitude. Old man, we shelled out a couple or so of Benjamins to be here and this is federal property and he would have a liability problem on his hands if he refused to make sure those who PAID for/​WANTED to shoot could properly handle a gun and blatantly discriminated against women but of course I resisted because I just want to shoot shit dammit! We all sat bewildered and the men were a bit uncomfortable as they were trying to figure out who was the most experienced to teach the girls lmaoo yea that’s pretty scary?!
The old man came over and took us one by one to make sure us girls felt comfortable. Uh who are you and where is the old cranky guy with bad skin? As long as you don’t back down, you got him and he warmed up to us gals quickly and was actually a nice guy. He later admitted he liked training women better than men because «Women Listen… men don’t listen and my 3 ex-​wives will tell ya» Ahh old man make joke, we friends now! He had us shooting like pros, and everyone had a great time and I was proud to be shooting a rife that was bigger than me :) I’m hooked, I like shooting and old man new friend gave us clay discs to take home as token of boy’s birthday/​gals’ first shooting.

So, I decided to go shooting with my wife and a friend but didn’t want to spend too much. Impossible right? WRONG! I did a quick Unilocal search and decided that this was the place for me.
Although I read that they offered trap/​skeet shooting, we wanted to fire handguns so we asked about rental prices and whatnot. It turns out that they don’t rent out handguns. You have to bring your own and you can buy their ammo if you need it. I thought this was going to be a huge let down but it turns out they do offer shotgun rentals for skeet/​trap range, if we wanted to try. We had a blast!
I was unsure at first because I’ve never shot a rifle before, much less at a small flying target popping out unpredictably, but the guy at the shooting station was helpful and taught us how to hold the gun, using proper posture, and also gave us tips about how and where to aim as well as how to follow through to help accuracy.
Each «game» is 25 shots. There are five different stations to shoot from and you rotate with the other people each taking a turn to shoot. I think that explanation makes sense.
Had a great time without breaking the bank like other ranges. I’ll gladly come back for round two. And three.

«I don’t teach girls.»
Mike, our friendly trap master, put out his hand for me to shake. I considered responding with «I don’t shake hands with sexists,» but my manners got the best of me. Five minutes later, as Mike took me forward and spent a full 10 minutes individually making sure that I had the correct posture and felt comfortable with the shotgun, I realized that Mike has an excellent deadpan sense of humor.
This was my first time trap shooting, and it was a blast (hah, get it?). Although I’m not what you would call a good shot, with Mike’s helpful tips («you’re hesitating — just shoot the dang thing!» «get intimate with the gun; pretend it’s your husband»), I was able to make three out of my first round of 25 clay birds explode. I improved *significantly* to ⁴⁄₂₅ on my second round (shh, 1 more pigeon is a huge improvement!). Although some of the expert old-​timers put me to shame (hitting ²²⁄₂₅ consistently), I apparently did well enough to earn a clay pigeon from Mike as a trophy to take home.
The trap shooting here is definitely beginner-​friendly, and the price is right for $ 5 a round. The trap attendants are hilarious older guys who have had years of experience with guns, and they’re completely willing to help you learn how to aim better, even if (possibly especially if) you’re a girl. The location is a bonus; you’re shooting across a creek on the border of the Everglades, where wildlife sporadically pops up in an attempt to win a Darwin Award.
I had such a great time trap shooting with Mike at the Trail Glades Gun Range that we’re going to start making this a monthly tradition. ⁵⁄₅!

Here’s the deal. This is the best outdoor range in Miami.
1. Great 100 yard range for rifle work.
2. The safety class. The good, the bad, and the ugly. No matter what anyone says, everyone can benefit from a safety class. What sucks is having to take an hour prior to shooting. Be very, very careful around idiots. Spot these couch commandos and stay far away. I’ve seen two turds looking down the barrel, and other big no no’s (muzzle direction, only point at what you intend to shoot) inside the range office to the extent that I moved my seating location. Do stupid tricks, Get stupid prizes.
3. Exercise your right to bear arms.

Went shooting here the other day. It was a pretty cool experience. The only other place I’ve been shooting is in Tallahassee so that’s the only thing I can compare it to.
The range was pretty big. The prices were reasonable-​$ 15 gun range fee, for the whole day.
The only pickle I have about this place is that they allow kids to shoot here. It’s dangerous and absurd.

This is a «target» range done right! Highly professional and very well sorted. Be advised, they don’t tolerate carelessness well, which I like! If you’re looking to teach your son or daughter or just looking for safe and serious professionalism, this is your place. They have a 30-​minute course which is very informative, only $ 9 and required for all, no exceptions. Even if it wasn’t required, I would recommend it.
You shoot for 15-​minutes, take a 5-​minute break to adjust or look at your target, and begin shooting again. No rapid fire and no games, just serious shooters enjoying themselves. I like it very much although I must admit, the rules are a bit much to remember right away but they’ll work with you if they see you know your place, so be respectful and recognize their primary goal is SAFETY! I’m sure you’ll get it by your 2^nd visit.
They also have skeet shooting for old-​school sporting fans, PULL! If you prefer more lenient shooting, try Ace’s in Doral or Florida Gun Center in Hialeah. Enjoy and remember, guns are not toys, be responsible and be SAFE!
