I went to Uncle Frank’s Pizza last night in Cutler Bay… been around I’m guessing about 30 years? Though Frank sold his low cost style of pizza takeout to Bob more than a decade ago, who kept the name, but promptly made the entire menu homemade gourmet and delicious. The homemade ice creams were an incredible treat. I can still taste the heat from the raw fresh garlic on the bread. Via Verde was the best pizza, in my humble opinion. This was a favorite when down visiting family in my old neighborhood. Imagine my surprise, when I pull up to their«open 7 days» storefront last night only to find it closed, see a For Rent sign and«Closed Forever» on the door. DOESANYONEKNOWWHATHAPPENED? Is Bob doing okay? I don’t know his last name to search obituaries. Does anyone have the story on why they closed? I feel it must be something more ominous or sad than the economy, because he did a pretty brisk takeout whenever I ate there, and all his staff were like rescued people he took care of under his wing.

Ive tried this place a couple times since i live so close to it. Every time i am just underwhelmed. The pizza tastes like Digorno pizza from your grocers freezer. Everything about it screams i should have just gone to Publix and spent less money. If you want pizza in the area go up the street to Steves. THe pizza is much much better

Stopped by and picked up some of their homemade ice cream and I have to say I wasn’t too impressed. I had the cookies n cream and it wasn’t bad, just not the oreo explosion of icey goodness I expected from homemade.

I still think the food is worth 4 stars(keep in perspective, it’s basically take-out) but I updating the review to focus on the homemade ice cream. Not a fan of the ice cream. I think they have come up with some cute names, but the quality isn’t there for me. The rum raisin tastes way to strong. The cookie dough was way to crystalline. I guess if you are going to take the time to be home made, it better be better than what I can buy in the store. Or at least have a distinctive or unique quality, taste, or texture to it. None of the above here.
