One of the few genuine galleries in the Miami art world. Interesting, current and relevant art exhibitions… as close to a NYC gallery as you can get. And the owner Bernice Steinbaum… a vibrant masterpiece!

This is absolutely the best gallery there is to see in Miami. From start to finish, the attention to detail in this gallery is exceptional. The artwork on display is fresh, unique, and really like nothing I’ve ever seen before. If you’re looking for an exciting place to visit that is far beyond the Miami Art status quo, definitely pay this place a visit. You will not be disappointed!

My visit was during the promotional gallery showing for the Death of Harry Houdini, although, there were three different exhibits in the building at the same time. When you mix slight of hand magic and photography, it’s hard for me to pay attention to anything else. I did check out some of the other works, mostly the digital graphic art. Amazing when you know what it feels like to sit in front of Photoshop for HOURS working on an image. The magicians from the local IBM(International Brotherhood of Magicians) were excellent and spot on. The photos of the magicians were spot on as well. You could capture the feelings and emotions and personalities of the portrait subjects. Bottom Line: Two thumbs up… with one thumb floating magically above my hands from my experience.

You don’t get a second chance to make a first impression. We came here for the Cirque Éloize event which advertised«free valet.» We pulled up to the gallery and a rude Mexican-looking dude waved us off and said that valet was full. As we were trying to get back onto the street, we saw them valet another woman’s car and after we finally found alternative parking and trudged back to the gallery, we saw them valeting ANOTHER car. Some of the art was laughable; it looked like finger paintings that belonged on a fridge instead of on the wall at a gallery. The lines were ridiculously long for the free vodka; we gave up after 30 minutes. The CIrque stuff was cool, including a live breakdancer. I don’t think I’ll ever come back to this place.

DISCLAIMER: I don’t attend art events for the free drinks. I really don’t! But sometimes… I attended the Cirque Eloize event tonight and enjoyed the art. The combination of video clips, scene schematics and related Alexander Calder paintings were well presented and certainly interest me in wanting to see the full show when it opens. The lady break dancer giving the brief demonstration was certainly easy on the eyes as well. Although I didn’t have VIP access to the upstairs section, it looked from below like they were having a nice time! Besides the Cirque related exhibit, there were a couple of paintings by Chinese artists that were both fun to look and elicited interpretation. Part of the outside façade is a bright blue, and the various steps inside the building make it a fun puzzle to explore. Why, then, am I taking off two stars? The line in the front of gallery was a touch on the long side and a little spread out. By the time I got to the front, I was told they were temporarily out of ice and only had seltzer(and none of the fruit /flavored mixers). They were also giving away a themed cup. I would have paid.
