Delicious food, great concept! We had to wait for our food longer than we would have normally due to having a large party. Everyone was super friendly.

The hours are very limited but the food is good and the concept is great. As others said the price is low and u don’t tip but the idea is towards paying it forward.. giving extra towards helping someone in need. Or people can volunteer there time and services as payment. It’s a great idea. the food was very good and the volunteers were very friendly. OK this part may seem harsh or non pc but in keeping with an honest review : We sat towards the back and I wouldn’t do that again. The tables of what I assume as homeless people did greatly detract from our dining experience. They were very load and talking gibberish.. my elderly mother felt very uncomfortable with this. They were so load she had to take out her hearing aids. I totally like the idea of helping others but next time I’d want to sit more upfront. I work at a hospital and care for all types of people all day … but on my off time I want peace and a nice dining environment. I will give this another chance probably for brunch and try to be seated towards the front.

The Brie grilled cheese was amazing, food is priced very well(they could be charging a lot more), live music, nice and friendly waitstaff. Only suggestions for the restaurant would be to get alcoholic beverages.

I was out shopping and decided I wanted to have lunch, looked through the local listings and found One Bistro. The menu is breakfast(Saturday only), brunch, and lunch. The staff is all volunteer. All the meals are $ 6. You’re urged to give more than the $ 6 if you have it to give, and buy another meal($ 6) for someone less fortunate if you can. If you can’t pay, then they suggest volunteering. I think this is a pretty cool concept. The interior is welcoming, and as I walked in a friendly and grandmotherly lady walked up and asked me how I was doing, if I’d been there before, and found me a seat near the kitchen. I was given two sheets, one of which is all about the restaurant and their mission, the other is a menu. The server offered a few daily specials. I chose one of those and the soup of the day. The special I chose was a grilled cheese with asiagio, mozzarella, goat cheese, pumpkin spread, and bacon. It appeared to be on a farmhouse style bread. The soup was a French onion with mushrooms. Both the soup and the sandwich were excellent, very well prepared, excellent flavors. The service was quite good, and though my server said she wasn’t really a server, just a volunteer, she was very attentive and quick with refills. I’m excited to return here on a Saturday morning to try the breakfast menu, and I’m also really enthusiastic about the idea that instead of tipping or paying extra — these menu items would be more than $ 6 on most any menu — that instead the money is returned to the community. Definitely a highly recommended place to visit.

I loved this place! While visiting my sister, she found this place on Unilocal and we decided to go. It is such a cool concept! All meals are around $ 6, and they ask to help buy a person in need’s meal. At $ 6 for your own food, how can you not? My sister got the smoked salmon eggs benedict and I got the biscuits and gravy skillet. Both were so good! It was nice we got a taste of something different. The coffee was good, and kept coming. At the end of the meal, I paid for both of us and also«paid it forward». I tried to tip the waitress and it was explained to me that no tips were received –everything was paid forward. How awesome is that? I love seeing a local business care so much about its community. These people are clearly doing something right!

Loved this place! I was looking for a new, local place to take my sister for breakfast and found this place. It was a small, inviting place with a great menu. I had the eggs benedict and my sister had the biscuits and gravy skillet. Both were excellent. They do not receive tips, everything is pay it forward which we thought was awesome! Would definitely recomment this place and will be coming back!

What a great concept to pay it forward. Buy a meal and pay the suggested price or more for someone in need. You could even buy a meal for one in need. All of the staff are volunteers and overall we need more places like this. And on top of all that… the food is the bomb! Hats off to the chief and staff!

Everything I’ve had here is delicious! The atmosphere is cute and inviting. I love that the restaurant is run by volunteers, yet the owner is a trained chef! I live in Kettering, but will gladly drive to Miamisburg to enjoy the amazing food here! The coffee/bake shop they also own across the street is equally delicious. Great coffee and cookies!

Absolutely outstanding! I have to ask myself how I haven’t been here sooner? A crime indeed. Today I lunched on the Apple, Bacon & Gouda sandwich which was an exquisite combination of roasted apples, smoked bacon, gouda, arugula, apple butter served on a ciabatta bun. The ingredients worked together as a team to satisfy my hunger for something out of the ordinary, but not over the top. As it turns out, you should be putting apples on your sandwiches! If the food doesn’t get you, the noble purpose and business concept will! Be a peach and throw an extra $ 5 in the tip jar for the fabulous people of One Bistro!

Spinach salad is the best! Have you heard the old saying about food tasting better because it was made with live? That is what this place is about! Loving concept-great food!

OMG! What a pleasant surprise! The food alone is reason enough to eat here… amazing stuffed French toast, enormous fresh salads, quality ingredients. Then there’s the concept of helping to feed the hungry while enjoying the wonderful food. Servings are plentiful so come hungry and bring friends… totally worth the drive for a great meal!

Amazing food and concept! The chicken and waffles were some of the best I’ve ever had! Crushed cap n crunch in the fried chicken batter was outstanding. My wife had the blueberry pancakes and they were phenomenal. Great service as well! An absolute must visit if you’re in the area.

This is a wonderful place! The owner is trained Chef who built off the model of a «one world, everybody eats» philosophy. Everything on the extensive and gourmet menu is $ 6. Kids eat for $ 3. You pay if you can and if you cannot, you pay for your meal via volunteering. The wait staff are all volunteers. The food is beyond awesome; really exceptional quality. I had a half of a Reuben with homemade rye bread and an apple quinoa salad which was outstanding for lunch. The owner will also feed the homeless on special evenings. Please stop by this wonderful spot and tip well!

I can’t say enough about this restaurant. The food is beyond excellent and atmosphere is phenomenal. I have tried many things on the menu and have never been disappointed. Suggested pricing allows anyone to eat here no matter what their circumstances but no menu item is over $ 6(unbelievable for the quality) If you can’t pay you just volunteer your time. All wait staff is volunteer so everyone is happy to be there and strive to give great service. Not only do they have the pay what you can concept but also try to make true connections with people less fortunate. Chef Robert is passionate about helping people better their lives not just giving them a hand out. He normally tries to make the rounds to tables to talk, a very nice touch and you can just tell how much he really cares about his mission. I suggest everyone go check out this restaurant, you’ll be glad you did! P. S. Don’t forget to try one of the delicious homemade cupcakes for dessert!

If I could add a bonus star to make an even 6 for One Bistro, I would. First of all, lets talk about what makes One Bistro different from every other place in town, then I’ll talk about how great the food was! One Bistro is all about helping others, they have suggested prices(which are all very low for the quality of food you get!), but you pay what you can. This means that if you can’t pay anything but are hungry, you can eat and maybe work to pay for your meal, serving or in some other capacity. If on the other hand you can afford the suggested price or more, pay it or pay more to «pay it forward» for for someone who may be less fortunate, what a cool concept! All of the servers are volunteers and they all did a fantastic job, they really make you feel welcome and taken care of, again, really cool concept, it’s all about helping others here. The building and atmosphere at One Bistro is really awesome, kind of café’ish, they even had a guy playing guitar and harmonica who did a great job singing some James Taylor /Bob Dillon style music, really added character to the place. The only downside to One Bistro is that they’re only open from 7am-2pm Tuesday through Saturday(check their website for exact times), so it’s pretty much breakfast-lunch only. The menu wasn’t huge but diverse enough to please pretty much anyone. There were salads, omelets, reubens, soups, fish tacos, pizzas, everything sounded amazing! Also, everything here is prepared with a gourmet flair, nothing«plain Jane» but with a casual setting and vibe. I ordered the BLT(amazing!) and my wife ordered the pizza with bacon, goat cheese, spinach, and sun dried tomatoes(over the top fantastic!!), the food was really great! Our total bill for a BLT with cucumber, tomato, and feta salad, very generously sized pizza, and two drinks, $ 14.00! When we payed, we were asked if we wanted to «pay it forward?» of course we did, the meal was easily worth twice what we were charged for it and hopefully it will help someone else out in the process. If you’re in the Dayton area and are looking for a breakfast/brunch/lunch place, this is a must try restaurant! I’m sure you’ll fall in love with One Bistro like we have, be sure to check them out! We were told that they may be opening another location in Xenia soon, that would be even closer for us, can’t wait!

I am such a fan of this place! I have never been to a place like this. The philosophy here is if you can’t pay then don’t, if you can then pay the suggested amount or whatever you feel you can pay, volunteer your time if you can’t pay or just volunteer your time to help those that can’t pay, pay more to help your neighbor out and feed them a meal for those ones who can’t afford to pay. The workers here are all volunteers! There menu only costs for kids $ 3, salads and sandwhiches are $ 5 and specials are $ 6 nothing is more than $ 6. I tried the almond crusted goat-cheese salad and it was fantastic. I love goat cheese, the only thing is it was such a HUGE portion! I think they should have way smaller portions for the community outreach they are doing. The grilled cheese and club sandwich were delicious as well. If i was staying in the area i would help out here as much as i could. I think this place is phenominal and has a great purpose with bringing the neighborhood together as one no matter if your rich or poor.
