Dr. Stine and his staff are the BEST! I have been a patient for 20 plus years. My entire family uses this practice and we have never had a negative experience. They are great for routine eye exams and always available for the occasional emergency. Dr. Stine personally cares about each patient and is extremely thorough at all appointments. This is not a «big box» optometry office. Folks know your name here, know your family, and provide individualized treatment and options. Each appointment is thorough, there is no rushing, they take the time they need to make sure your eyes are at optimum health!

This practice came highly recommended so I scheduled appointments for both my husband and myself with Dr. Stone, another doc in this practice, for our routine annual eye exams. When I called to schedule, I wanted to double check and make sure that they are indeed in-network with our insurance. The woman on the phone was quite rude and just cut me off mid-sentence, saying she couldn’t tell me anything without seeing my card. So prior to our appointments, I drove out to Middleburg and gave them a copy of my insurance card. The young woman at the front desk didn’t seem to comprehend that there is a huge difference between in network and out of network in regard to insurance. While I didn’t expect her to be an expert on insurance billing, I would expect that someone who works at the front desk in any kind of medically related office would have some kind of basic concept of in and out of network. On the day of our appointments, we were seen promptly. Dr. Stone asked me what was bringing me into the office and I told him that I’m diabetic and that I needed my routine eye exam. I also had some concerns that the progressive tri-focal lenses that I got last year weren’t working out very well for me. I had hoped he would address this issue and possibly make some suggestions on what might work better for me. He didn’t address my concerns, I wasn’t checked for glaucoma and he didn’t check my pheripheral vision. Yet when he billed my insurance, he billed for an «extended exam». Our insurance covers one routine exam a year with no deductible and no co-pay, but since Dr. Stone billed both of our visits as being for a medical reason, after both my husband and I clearly stated we were there for routine exams, we each had to pay a $ 30 co-pay. Dr. Stone gave my husband a sample of some allergy eye drops. When we got home I noticed that they had expired several months earlier. When we got ready to leave the office, I noticed that someone had parked behind me in the tiny parking area and blocked me in. I asked one of the ladies at the front desk if I had parked in the wrong place, since someone had now parked behind me. She replied, no you can park there, but that’s the chance you take! WTF??? From beginning to end, a completely bad and unacceptable experience. We won’t be back.
