Maybe I didn’t have the best experience. I came during Middleburg’s Christmas Day and they ran out of eggs. After waiting in line for 30 minutes or more, all I wanted was a cup of apple cider, a cow pudding cookie, and a warm bacon, egg & cheese on croissant. I was disappointment when I couldn’t get my croissant sandwich and the rest of my meal was good. I tried the ham & cheese croissant, feta cheese croissant, cow girl cookie, and apple cider. It was a good meal but not as impressive as previous reviews say it would be. I didn’t get my wow factor but I’m open to trying this place again; maybe not on a crowded day. Also, they are cash only which doesn’t bother me. This is just a FYI.

Great cookies and snack shop. Love everything about this place. The only complaint is that it is cash only and it seems that the tax rate always changes. I went in and bought 2 of the same cookie twice and each time paid a different price because the tax changes.

I grew up in Middleburg and have lived in the Turks and Caicos Islands for the last 14 years. It is always my first stop when«coming home». Great croissants, baked goods, and the pies(esp. the Rhubarb)…OMG, maybe its better for my waistline I don’t live there anymore! It’s family owned by great people, who have shown the community a lot of love over the years. I love this place!!!

I absolutely LOVE this place. I have been coming here since I was a little girl learning how to ride horses in Middleburg. One thing I must say is that the hours are not posted anywhere online or at The Upper Crust. I went by this past weekend and asked them what their hours were: Monday-Saturday — Open at 7:30am and close at 4:00pm Sunday — Open at 8:30am and close around 2:30/3:00pm(depending on how it goes). NOW, on to the food. They make their food daily, including breads, cookies, pies, etc. I usually get their sourdough bread(so yummy and soft with a nice crunchy crust). They have amazing BLTs and Chicken BBQ Sandwiches(with or without the slaw). Every year, we go to the Upper Crust to pick up pies for Thanksgiving(Pumpkin, Pecan, Sweet Potato, and more). They also have other pies such as Lemon Meringue Pie, French Silk Pie, and Chocolate Meringue Pie(my favorite). They have a lot of different cookies to choose from: chocolate chip cookies, horse-shaped sugar cookies(with and without icing), smores bars, lemon bars, cow puddles, snickerdoodles, molasses cookies, peanut butter blossom cookies, and so much more! There is some seating available. There are a few tables on the deck behind the store, along with an indoor seating area. Parking is sometimes tricky. You can either find parking alone route 50(runs through the middle of town), along one of the side streets, or in the Safeway Parking lot(which you aren’t supposed to do, but I have never gotten in trouble for a 30 minute meal). Lastly. This is very important! They do not except credit cards. They only take CASH or CHECK. There is an atm located across the street if you forget.

Amazing breakfast sandwiches and lunch sandwiches. The pastries are great too. My only suggestion is to offer some more healthy options for breakfast.

Good baking. Very bad service, no smile, no warmth. Why is it so hard to say hello and thank you? Just Rude.

Very Tasty Pies My wife and I both like their pies very much. Their breakfast sandwiches are good as well. I am especially fond of the coconut cream and my wife likes the chocolate chiffon. Very tasty and fattening of course.

I don’t get the appeal of this place. The quality of their cookies is equal to the messed-up batches I trash when I bake at home. The cookies I’ve had here have always been dry and overloaded with sugar. There is no playful balance amongst all the ingredients in the cookie, which are mostly likely all processed and refined. Save your money and learn to bake with quality ingredients at home, people. Limited seating. Hit or miss quality of customer service, esp with the younger employees. The dark-haired lady and the older gentleman have been consistently agreeable.

I grew up in Middleburg and returned for a visit a few years ago(after a good 10 years away), the ham & cheese croissant was and still is as good as I had remembered from my childhood. I go back to visit every few months and a trip to the bakery is always a must and I still get the ham & cheese croissant and a cow puddle cookie(plus about 5 or 6 extra to take home). The cookie, the cookie is what cookie dreams are made of and no where else has anything even remotely close to the perfection that is the cow puddle cookie. Words don’t even do it justice. It actually makes me a little sad to think that there are parents out there who take their kids to Mrs. Fields when the cow puddle exists.

The pies alone are worth the trip here from here I live(1 hour). Any time I visit Middleburg, I have to pick one up!

I’ve been here a few times, and the service is consistently horrible. No matter how good an establishment’s food may be, if the service is bad, I’m just not a fan. Not once have I received kind or courteous treatment here.

Omg the pie. okay, truthfully, I’ve yet to make it into The Upper Crust. More truthfully. we are low-carb eaters so this isn’t a place we will be frequenting. However! Our super-nice new neighbors Larry & Dianna gave us a pie from The Upper Crust and oh my, it was to die for. I don’t even like pies, as a rule, I always hate pie crust. This crust though. oh, so flaky and yet somehow dense. I don’t know what makes it special, but it is. We ate the whole pie! And, remember, we supposedly don’t eat sweets. I think it was the strawberry-rhubarb(95% sure), but maybe it was just heaven in a pie, who knows… I’ve been to the Upper Crust multiple times now — the pies are still delicious. I would say, however, that when it comes to the cookies/bars they are just okay to me. I’ve baked from scratch a lot over the years, and whatever recipes they’re using seem like they could use improvement. I’d still recommend it for the pies though!

Small sandwiches and slow lines, but the pies are damn good and the cookie selection is not bad for a village shop.

Been here 6 times in the last 2 weeks. Great baked goods all around. Best scone in the world and I had a bacon egg and cheese croissant another time. I highly recommend this place for a quick stop in treat or for breakfast. A fun little whole in the wall. Just wished they opened at 7 so I could stop by àlmost every morning.

I’ve been coming here since I was a young child. The cow puddles are AMAZING. I love their croissants, sandwiches and pies as well. There are only 2 cons– 1. cash only 2. the hours. Sometimes I’ve come during times that I thought they would be open, and they’ve been closed. If I had my choice, they’d be open 24⁄7 :) Perfect bakery for a cool town.
