Years of reading books and staring at a computer screen for hours at a time for my day job has done a number to my eyesight, and it’s not cheap! Normally, I spend an absurd amount of money every couple of years getting a new pair of glasses(frames and lenses) that usually run me up to at least $ 400+. Let me tell you about my recent score: two complete pairs of glasses with frames and lenses: $ 260. Amazing! I am not sure why I never really considered BJ’s Optical as an option. I kind of figured that they were a store with cheaper flimsy frames and with a small selection. I came across a sale paper that frames + lenses were 50% so I decided to give it a try. I noticed that frames in general were much more discounted than other optical shops I’ve been to, so I decided to buy two pairs! This optical shop is a great bargain if you can: 1. Find a nice pair of frames you like: I noticed that most of the brands I’m used to seeing other stores carrying like Kenneth Cole and BCBG weren’t at BJ’s, but there are still other great brands like Juicy Couture and AppleBottoms(surprisingly nice designs; I bought a pair of those!) that are good options. Even the no-name brands had decent styles that were much cheaper. To be honest, I don’t really shop for brand names anyways as no one is going to really stare at the logo on your face but just FYI for the people who do care. 2. Go at a time where a promotion is happening: 50% off of frames and lenses is amazing. The optician said my lenses would have normally been $ 80 and it looked like average frame prices were about $ 175~. If you can go for an eye exam when a deal is happening and cash in on the promotion, you should! 3. Have a BJ’s Rewards Membership: If you have BJ’s rewards card(gold), you get an extra $ 20 off each pair of glasses you buy. Highly recommended! BJ’s Optical is on the top of my list if I ever need a new pair of glasses made.
