We stopped at the Celtic Cavern(based on reviews here) on our way home after a long and hard day driving to CT to visit a sick relative. What a great place! Despite being very busy-the owner/host made us feel welcome and kindly made room for us. The craft beer selection was comprehensive and well thought out but the bacon burger– AMAZING! Probably the best burger I’ve ever had– perfectly cooked, every component from the chopped bacon, sautéed mushrooms and garlic aioli sauce was delicious. The bun was fresh and the perfect texture to compliment the crispy burger outside. It will be hard to get something new from the menu when the burger was bliss but there were many other interesting selections. We’ll definitely be back the next time we go through Middletown.

I was exhausted after a long work day in NYC and called my sister for dinner suggestions in Middletown, she had gone here for drinks with friends and had always wanted to try the food, I figured. Why not?! So it was the best decision ever! I got the braised short rib with homemade mash potatoes and she got a scallop salad. We both couldn’t stop eating when we were ready to burst! I am not a big meat eater but the short rib fell apart and melted in my mouth, the sauce was a perfect glaze and words can’t describe how great and wonderful it was to have a nice healthy meal out for once!

This was my first visit to Celtic Cavern. Great pub atmosphere. Large selection of craft brews. Not a large selection on the menu but enough choices. I had the grilled cheese with tabouleh salad as a side. My husband had the bacon cheeseburger. Both were awesome. The wait staff was great. Brought us samples of beer to try before our order. It would help if a beer list with descriptions was at each table. Will definitely be back. Nice addition to the Middletown restaurant scene.

This is my first time in this place and I have to say WOW! Very very cool atmosphere. I love the stone and wood work. The bar is really cool with the cd’s in the bar top. Bathrooms are the cleanest and nicest around. The beer on tap is exceptional! The food is to die for! The bartenders are great and very informative about the beer they serve, they take pride in making sure you get the right beer. The owners have hit a home run!!!

This is a bar/pub worth checking out. Somewhat hidden in the back of(and underneath) a plaza off Main Street in Middletown, it’s a dark but cozy and welcoming environment. All the staff was exceptionally friendly, and they had an impressive beer list… definitely worthy of any hipster, craft-beer fans. The food menu was good, too, going a step above and beyond the typical«pub grub» you’d expect.(The brussels sprouts were great, FYI.)
