Before going on this year’s big trip, I took both our regs, as usual, to be serviced at this shop, which I think is a necessity for peace of mind. After they called that they were ready, I picked them up and put them in the gear bag. Three weeks later after arriving at our destination, I found one of the regs was leaking badly because one of the nuts, which you need a tool to tighten, was loose. I had to take it to a shop on the island and they fixed it, but it was annoying because I had just paid good money to have it put in order before our trip. When I phoned and spoke with the owner about it, he said, «nuts loosen up». No apology, no explanation. I did not argue that I’ve never heard of nuts on regs spontaneously loosening riding in a gear bag, because it was clear that no responsibility was going to be taken.
