Horrible. No compensation for raw food that was ordered well done. Was charged $ 15 for 2 eggs and hash browns. Owner herself said i shouldn’t have eaten anything off the plate. And since i did it was my fault. Never again will i go there.

This is my second time coming to this diner and I don’t remember the first time being so bad. Orange juice was sour as if it’s old I than asked if I could have cranberry juice it had a fruit fly. Grant it that happens but gross. My eggs where not fully cooked and the waitress seemed annoyed bc I kept telling her everything that was wrong. To top it off it was unbearably freezing. My toddler was shaking and I couldn’t wait to run out.

We were enroute to Maine and wanted to have a diner as opposed to a fast food meal while on the road. Stopped off at Colonial. The staff was friendly and their baked goods looked amazing. I got the fish and chips. The breading was very crispy and the fish was just okay. Fries were fine and it was an interesting addition have a soup or salad with the meal. Got the lima bean soup, which was again just okay. My husband got the Reuben which was HUGE and (3^rd times the charm) just okay. He said the corn beef was somewhat of a low quality. And even though the desserts behind the counter looked really good we were way to full to even consider it. Would we go back… no, but it was a fun experience during our travels.

Been going here for years. Excellent waitress service. Awesome food. But very hot inside. A bit pricey.

I will NEVER eat at this place again. Used to go get a quick bite for lunch. Food is okay nothing great. Went in recently for lunch sat at the counter and watched a waitress start eating fries out of the to go order while a cook was not to far away blowing his nose!!! So unprofessional and rude! Horrible service! Wasn’t a great spot to begin with but that just sealed the deal for me!

We placed an order for pick-​up on Saturday night after arriving at the Empty Bottle for a comedy show to find out there’s no food! That’s another review. the place was clean and ladies were super friendly. We ordered chicken fingers, cheese sticks & burger and ate at the saloon. Everything was decent, grease was clean. I don’t have a reason to ever return to that area but to those that find themselves hungry at 11pm, rest assure their food is good enough to coat the alcohol!

I was traveling for work and wanted diner food to get a good French toast. I remember seeing Colonial Diner on my travels and decided to go there. It was a good choice. French toast, ham and eggs were terrific. On a Wednesday night they were constantly 80−90% full. Service was great and the restaurant is very clean with a good atmosphere If you’re looking for traditional diner fare, this would be a good choice.

Normally I would have rated this diner as a 4… but after my last 3 experience I’m down to a 1 and will not be returning!
3 visits ago… about 1 week ago, went for breakfast. Asked for «soft» bacon (bc I HATE hard crispy bacon that crumbles when u bite it). My bacon came out RAW!!! Really???
Last night (Sat evening around 5pm). We called to do take out… was put on hold bc the hostess doesn’t take orders… the phone was placed on the counter and I was left «on hold» for 10 minutes. Pointless to hang up and call back bc their phone was just off the hook!!! So, we decided to go and sit and wait the 15 – 20 min to get a to go order. We arrived… took 5 min to have the hostess come talk to us. Then she informed us that a waitress needed to come take our order. I informed her about being on hold… she searched for the phone… and hung it up! Again, we stood waiting for an additional 10 min only to be told repeatedly by the hostess someone will come take our order… WE LEFT!!!
The last straw was tonight… another call for another to go order. Called, phone placed on counter, «on hold» for 10 min…
IM DONE!!! WILL NOT GO BACK!!!

Decent diner.
I came late on a weeknight when this was the only thing open in town. (Taco Bell closes at 11pm!) The food came out slow because there was a pretty big crowd for a weeknight. The nachos were very basic. Salsa from a jar, cheese melted on chips, and some sour crème. Basically identical to the nachos I microwave at home which made me sad. I got the chicken salad melt. The chicken salad itself was ok; the chicken in it was good quality. The melt part didn’t do much for me. Everything averages around $ 10. I’ll probably order from the breakfast menu next time.

Regular dinner food. Good service but nothing special. The owner is very unprofessional. Very expensive. Ordered an orange juice for breakfast was about 8 ounces and costed $ 3.50. Only will go if someone else is paying.

Been coming here for years! Best food. Mozzarella fries and gravy are the best. Chicken salad is amaZing. Always great service and never a wait.

One of my favortie diners and a great place to meet business clients. A long established family owned and run diner always serving good honest food at a fair price. You never go wrong at the Colonial Diner.

Worst diner ever! I hate this place so much! The food is dry and undercooked. The waitresses are rude and sassy. The coffee must be hours old. And the ridiculous 2 ounce cups they give you for your drink. It’s annoying to me and the waitress when u have to refill my soda 12 times. On a busy day expect to wait a while to be seated also expect to wait a long time for your food. Only thing that I like about this place is the look of it. It looks like a real diner.

Best diner in Middletown. The food is pretty good depending on what you get. Staff is usually good and attentive. It’s open ²⁴⁄₇ which is great for a late night bite! It’s clean inside & the large windows are nice because they let in tons of light. Good breakfast and there’s daily specials for a good price. I personally love their chocolate milk and carrot cake. Good coffee. Breakfast is served all day and night. Not the Best diner ever but it’s decent and great to have in Middletown, NY.

We had breakfast at the Colonial Diner this morning and I highly recommend it to anyone in the Middletown area. This is a nice old-​fashioned diner that is clean, happy and nice and airy. We happened to go during a light snow and it was so cool to see people of all ages having a great time. All of the servers were «a kick» and had worked at the diner for years.
The food was terrific and I would highly recommend their corned beef hash.

I’ve been goin to Colonial for a while now, and I must say that they really do a superb job! Cozy typical diner atmosphere when you eat in, and a «ready in 10 – 15 min» when you call and take out. Anytime of the day or night. Fuckin great. Thank you colonial, you please my taste buds at late hours of the night.

Overall solid diner. One of those places where you need to know what to order (breakfast is killer, burgers are so-​so, etc). The servers are your classic diner waitress (in a good way) and the food comes out fast and hot. I really dig the window bay too, lights the place up really nice in the daytime. If you’re looking for a recommendation, I’d try the chicken fingers, paninis, or Mexican chicken wrap. Just stay away from the cheesesteak.

Nice place to meet up with ppl late at night. Good coffee, nice people and good food
