Why do I always feel like they’re doing me a favor when I order something? Some of the girls are so sweet, but the owner… yikes! Bakeries used to be so cool to go to… goodies and good smiles. But Brenda scowling behind the counter just ruins it. Way overpriced, unfortunately, which makes it seem more like a tourist trap than your neighborhood favorite spot.

Great to see their service turn around here. We love them now, best sandwiches on Aquidneck Island for sure. It has become our go to place for lunch and their bread is amazing. Great work Provincal.

I though I would give this bakery café a second chance, unfortunately both times I experienced stale bakery goods and poor service. On the first visit, the Women behind the cash wrap got upset with her employees for excepting my credit card because I paid for my expresso that came under their minimum charge. I thought the cashier was having a bad day so went back to buy raisin bread and a french loaf. What a disappointment, the raisin bread was so bland and lacked taste and the french bread was stale, at least two days old. There are so many better bakeries that I won’t be back.

The owner Brenda contacted me and tried her best to correct the issue and expressed her concerns. To be fair, I was mistaken when I had thought that the salad came with chicken however there was still no avocado. Sometimes you cannot control how your staff reacts or handles customers, so I am giving them the benefit of the doubt that this was just an off day. The most important thing that matters to me is that the owner cares enough to reach out and attempts to fix the problems directly. I will try this place one more time.

Great food, atmosphere, and service. I ordered the pancakes and my 15 month son devoured them as well as myself with some left over! My husband ordered the all American breakfast which was eggs, toast, and potatoes. Their bread is freshly made and you can taste the difference! So good! You could also tell the eggs were free range with their bright orange color. This will be a place we will come back to every time we’re in town!

The service was a little bit slow but the food was worth the wait. It was one of the best sausage egg and cheese sandwiches I have ordered. I would recommend the«Sausage, egg, and cheddar on a roll» it was very good! The décor is very good also. It has a very interesting atmosphere in this awesome town!

I visited Provencal Bakery for the first time today and am already planning my next visit! I went in looking for French macaron’s and left with a seven layer bar. There was no way I was leaving there without something sweet and that seven layer bar was awesome. Serving size was so generous that I still have half left for tomorrow’s snack. or breakfast! Everything in the bakery case looked so good and the lunch menu looked fantastic, too bad they don’t deliver! Customer service was exceptional and that alone will bring me back in. I loved the bakery itself, the café area was warm and inviting. I see more visits in my future!

I was in the area picking apples and tasting wine so I decided a quick bite to eat would be good to keep me going through the rest of the day and the long ride home. I stopped in for something warm. I tried the Portuguese kale soup and because I AM Portuguese I am always ready to try someone’s rendition of what they think is Portuguese soup. It was actually really good, but needed more of a kick from spicier chorizo. But hey that could have just been me. It had a cool retro feel, and a book case that could satisfy any reader. It gave you the feeling like, «Hey, stay a while read a book, try a cupcake.» But for some reason I didn’t want to do any of that and I ate my soup and bruschetta. I didn’t like that bruschetta too much because I am a texture person and it was soggy. Less tomato more parmesan cheese. Fixes everything. I will stop in again if I am craving apples and soup in the saem day.

Bought an Italian loaf of bread for $ 5.00! Are you kidding me. Not to mention it was not moist or flavorful at all. For five bucks I better be transported to Tuscany. Anyway, you’re better off taking a 30 minute detour to any bakery in Fall River. You’ll definitely find something great, and you’ll have money to spend later.

Lovely little spot in a very uninteresting strip mall location. We go here almost every weekend(usually to «sneak» my parents some sweets… much to the chagrin of their endocrinologist) and really appreciate the quality of their breads and sweets. Their lunch options can be a bit of a mixed bag, but almost everything is scratch-made and more often than not it’s very, very good. My only complaint is that the service can be hit or miss and certain members of the staff don’t act like they’re all too happy to wait on the customers. Overall, I’d recommend this place as a great reasonably low-stress, rarely overly crowded option for breakfast and lunch. The shining star here is always their breads, which never fail to hit the mark.

One of my favorite local café/bakeries! Love the Quinoa salad & their chicken salad on their homemade country white bread! Friendly staff always with a smile welcomes you to sit and visit with your friends!

We had an excellent lunch, with a hot dog in a huge baguette and a reuben — just terrific. What friendly people there. And then we took home the bread pudding, the apple cake, and a boston cream pie selection — superb. A great place!

It’s hit or miss but I keep coming back. Apple bomb, quiche, sticky buns, mini bread loaf and macaroons are phenomenal when they have them. If not I walk out and try again another day. Exceptional phone customer service. I asked for a loaf of bread, crust cut off and cut into 1 inch pieces for a French Toast Soufflé and it saved me the hassle and the mess. Deliver as expected. It is pricey but it is fresh. I was also very happy in that they were open during Sandy. I was very happy to have fresh bread when the power went out. The soups haven’t wowed me.

Definitely one of my top 3 bakeries in the East Bay. Top notch breads, yummy pasteries. drool worthy sticky buns and a good selection of coffee based drinks always has me stopping on in when I’m in Middletown. Service always comes with a smile and there is a cute little counter area if you want to stick around to munch on your goodies or have a cup of coffee.

Pretty decent. A bit pricy if you’re buying loaves. Tasty stuff though! Great pastries!

A small, quaint space in the midst of a bunch of utility, office and maintenance building oddities. The bakery is on the lower level of the building with a large window that allows you to see, virtually, their entire operation. They employee a nice group of individuals; workers wanting a second chance or those whom other employers would turn away because of his/her past. Not long ago, I supervised a study on the emotional benefits of kneading, working with dough and baking for anger management practices, and how it has been proven to be quite effective. Provencal seems to have a similar program going on here. There’s a lot of *post traumatic grow* going on and it is nice to see. They have a great selection of less-than-four-ingredients breads. That’s my rule of thumb, if something has more than four ingredients, it’s most likely not good for you. Also, they typically have big slices of french bread with pizza toppings, right there near the cash register and ready to go, in a pinch. No plastic here, everything is wrapped in brown paper, just like the good old days.

They do have some good breads, and I don’t know many places around that actually make their own — but I agree, the bread is a little expensive. I am willing to pay a little extra though to keep a local artisan in business, so expect to pay $ 4 – 5 for a loaf and be prepared for more bread than you probably need! I can’t find any bread that’s the right size for my girl and I, we usually have half a loaf left over. The breads are good, but as the other Unilocaler said — sometimes the service leaves a little to be desired. But hey, they’re baking bread for almost all the restaurants on the island!

Some of their bread is pretty delicious make no mistake about that. Sometimes they have jalapeño breads which I highly recommend. Their sourdough is pretty average in taste as are the french baquettes. The bread is expensive compared to other bakeries. The major problem with this place? Customer service. I’ve gone into the store and heard employee verbal fighting/swearing. I’ve waited at the register longer than I should have while someone was on a cellphone. I had placed a special order for pickup once, got home and realized I was missing 2 particular loafs of bread I had paid for. I went back and the owner said he couldn’t be sure I really got them in the first place & came back trying to get two free loaves of bread. That REALLY just topped the cake. If you want good bread, this is ONE of the bakeries that has it. But why bother? You’ll probably be treated like crap like I was.
