Yes, Tasty, fragrant, fresh, with some spice but lots of flavor! Tandoori chicken is my favorite!

Only been here once as we passed through town for the night. But if we were to come back this way we would Defiantly stop here again. Words can’t say enough about this place.

Don’t let the 80’s mall it’s situated in scare you away, this place is really good. I have been to India 3x and am born and raised in nyc so I know my Indian food is like to think :) Not greasy at all, large portions, fresh ingredients and great service. Highly recommend! We got masala dosa, veggie korma and chicken curry yogurt spice thing = amazing!

Wow, this place is awesome. We eat here about once a month and love it, the food and spices create a mouthgasim that leaves you mellow and satiated for hours after you eat it.

We went to this Indian restaurant while our way from Finger lakes region to Queens. It’s the only and good Indian restaurant in the town. The seating space is huge and the staff is modest. We ordered Navratan Korma that came with Rice along with Malabar Parantha and Veg biryani(came with raita). The Parantha was buttery but boy O boy, it knocked our socks off! N the Biryani was excellent too. We might stop at this tasty joint again on our next road trip!

Saffron used to be good. I have no idea what happened. I have a feeling they changed ownership or something. Or maybe just forgot what good food tastes like. I mean, literally everything was bad the last two or three times I came here. I remember when their food was spiced beautifully, and tasted fresh and delicious, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt a few times and returned in hopes of actually enjoying a damn meal there again. No luck. Also, the prices have jumped by 50%, making this a poor choice in terms of yums per dollar. Less yums, more dollars. Goodbye, Saffron. You suck.

As close to authentic that I’ve found up here. The food is delicious! The buffet is reasonably priced, where you can load up and eat your fill; and beyond. Must have the Mango lassi=)

What a gem!!! You can’t beat 11 bucks for a tasty buffet. The spinach pakora is sooo good, as well as the tikka masala. You can also get the lunch buffet Togo, which is a huge plus. If you’re in Middletown and in need of some delicious Indian food, Saffron is the place to be!!!

I moved up here from Queens and missed Baluchi’s in the city. My husband and I ate here and it has become our go to spot! The food is fantastic and authentic. We’ve brought several people here and haven’t heard any complaints. Their portions are good and the food. just so so good. The wait staff are also great. The lunch buffet is nice and cheap and you’ll be full when you leave.

Best Indian place in the area! I always come here for the lunch buffet. It’s about $ 11 and I’m always satisfied afterwards. The naan is always fresh and amazing. The curry is flavorful and not watered down like most Indian buffets. I recommend you give this place a try if you’re around the area

Had the lunch buffet, and wow was it good. This was probably the best Indian food I ever had. This is the only place that I have seen which serves Lamb curry as part of their buffet. This is hands down the best Indian buffet in the area.

A very well appointed restaurant and professional staff was a welcoming sight. I didn’t plan to dine here(I was merely picking up some equipment for work) but the aroma was too inviting ! I started with a dried fish appetizer and my main, Kadai Goat were both delicious and quite flavorful. A wonderful garlic Naan accompanied my entreè. The wait staff was attentive and courteous. I will come again to try more of Saffrons creative dishes

Oh where do I start? The sweet customer service? The wonderful review? The quiet ambience? The perfect food? Saffron is the only, yes THEONLY Indian place I’ve eaten at up here where I feel like home. They’re from Kerala as well, so they have masala dosa, sambar and rasam, items that most Paki or Gujarat Indian places don’t serve. That In of itself is amazing. South Indian food, the only one I’ve found in the entire Hudson Valley to date, done to perfection. Pricing: The dinner prices are steep. For a better option, do the lunch buffet which also includes naan. The dinner gives you free pappadum and chutneys. That is very kind bc a lot of places charge you ridiculous amounts for a teaspoon of chutney. The sayam payasam is to die for. They don’t have it on thr normal menu, only the buffet as a special. The veggie options were so well seasoned I didn’t miss the meat, and I felt like I was cheating on being a fake vegan. The mano lassi are perfect and so are the portions. I did not care for the rasam or the rice kheer. It missed something, not sure what, but wasn’t my favorite. Anything else I’ve eaten was delicious but have not has meat. Dosa, A+, samosa, lassi, naan, veggie korma, daal(A++), veggie curry soooooo good. Dosa was not cracker hard like some places. Soft and nice. Praying this place never goes away. They also cater and have a large banquet hall for special events, FYI

The place is nice and it has a lunch buffet, which is where it wins major points! As far as Indian food goes, this is good, but not fantastic. This is coming from someone who has had access to great Indian food for a very long time. The fact that this exists in Middletown, NY is amazing and I would highly recommend it over other dinner options. The food isn’t very spicy, even if you ask for something with more of a kick. It tastes good, though. And the atmosphere is great. The restaurant looks classy, but it’s a casual dining setting. You can use it for a good date night, or casual dining with friends. Overall a great place.

In our quest for quality and diverse food, we came to Saffron because the only other local Indian restaurant we enjoyed had closed a couple years ago. The space is on the smaller side, a bit dark(with dreaded carpeting) and tables slightly close for my comfort. The food, however is quite delectable. From the boti kebab masala, tandoori chicken and saffron medley, everything was exceptional. Service was ok the 1st time we went, however the 2nd time was a different story. We waited about 20 minutes after 3 requests for more basmati rice. By the time we got more rice, our main dishes were cold and I was heated. Drink refills had to get flagged down. Our waiter seldom checked on us and seemed more interested in the«regular» customers. The two waiters working a full restaurant that night spun around endlessly, clearly overwhelmed by the 8 or 9 full tables. Takeout only from now on.

Wow. What a find. Next to an incredible pork store besides. Was directed here by a co worker(I’m working temporarily in the office here, from Dallas). I probably would not have come here on my own. If you’re in the area, stop to eat. Best garlic naan I’ve had.

Amazing Indian food — the goat curry and goat biriyani are to die for. They usually have a North Indian buffet during the week and South Indian buffet on weekends. Mondays are closed. Cleanliness is pretty good too. I took off one star because their raitha was finished before we could taste it and there was a lag in replenishing dishes and plates. However, for 13 something dollars inclusive of tax, this unlimited lunch buffet is a heaven to head to indulge your taste buds.

Buffet lunch today with a friend. Best Indian food I’ve had in a long time! Lots of choices in buffet, everything beautifully presented and, to my delight, delicious! I will be back! The mall is run down, don’t be discouraged, this restaurant is an unexpected gem!

We haven’t had the chance to experience dining in at a lot of restaurants in Middletown. I kept my expectations low especially given the location in a strip mall. The décor is nicer than I had in mind. A little formal, a good venue for a family party perhaps. The service is excellent and the food is good. I haven’t had much Indian food since college in Boston so it was nice to have something different. The menu is quite large and has a ton of options. I loved the lamb samosas. We also had paneer tikka masala(vegetarian homemade cheese in a creamy tomato based sauce cooked) and murgh akbari(a really flavorful fried rice type of dish with chicken that is a bit spicy, comes with a yogurt sauce) with a side of garlic naan. We really liked them both. I imagine we will be back next time we are craving some Indian food!
