I tend to judge Grocery stores on how clean/​shiny the floor is, how long the produce lasts after you buy it, how the meat department smells aaaaannnnd of course selection. I hate having to go to multiple stores.
This is the best grocery store on the island hands down.

My favorite grocery store in the newport/​Middletown area. The deli, seafood, and bakery section are pretty good. They have a large selection of fruits, vegetables, and organic food as well. The prices are decent and you don’t need a key tag or special card to get the sales.

This is a great store. I love the salad bar. Everything is always fresh and I do mean always. The deli is very good. The help very friendly and helpful.

Shaw’s has all the basic supermarket finds plus a few extras, would have to say it is up to par with the better markets in same class. The best part of store is the olive bar, great selection and well laid out. Store is kept clean and smells of fresh produce despite a small selection.
I gave four stars due to the rural area, ease of access, plenty of parking, cleanliness, and central location of store in Middletown.
