my husband and i recently got a couple’s massage here… i loved the atmosphere of the whole place, and the women who worked with us were extremely warm and welcoming… the massage itself was very relaxing… however, i’m giving this place 4 stars instead of 5 stars, as we both felt like the massage was a little too tender and that they didn’t go «deep» enough. overall though, a great experience.

After searching online for over an hour for «best male massage therapist» in Rhode Island, SpaVana popped up and based on the reviews I booked an appointment for an 80 minute massage for the next day. I showed up at 9:15 am for my appointment but started getting worried when I couldn’t get in the building. Cory (the kind man on the phone) realized there had been a booking error because my appointment was written in for Saturday and their first appointment for the day started at 10:30. My heart went «kerplunk» because not only had I driven a half hour to get there but I was desperate for some emergency relaxation. A vision of driving all the way back to Westport with no massage flashed before my eyes and I was just starting to feel like crying when he said, «can you come back at 12:30? I’ll move some thing around and we’ll have someone here and we won’t charge you for the massage.» I was honestly taken aback because not only did he not argue with me that the mix up had been my mistake but he also was willing to provide the service for free as a compensation (which is why I assumed he was the owner). I drove to Thames Street, went to Starbucks and shopped for a little while and came back at 12:30 for a HEAVENLY massage with John, who I found out was the owner, who definitely did not disappoint. John is extremely STRONG, which is what I needed, for extreme tension/​stress, and at the end of the 80 minutes, I was feeling 100% better. It was a wonderful, heavenly massage and I left feeling brighter, more optimistic, and refreshed. A potentially very sad (relatively speaking) situation turned very happy, thanks to Cory and John. Thank you SpaVana! I will be back!

We visited here to get a much needed couples massage. It. Was. Fabulous!!! We were lucky enough to have the owners as our massage therapists and they were so attentive, friendly, accommodating and fantastic at their jobs. I fully admit that I’m very picky and this was by far the best massage I have ever had. The ambiance is nice and the front desk staff is so welcoming and helpful. When we called and made the reservation, I had inquired about local restaurant recommendations and upon our arrival we were handed two printed out pages with recommendations and directions to each restaurant. So nice! We did the Jade Massage and I would say to skip that since they weren’t as special or as incorporated as I expected. I’ve had hot stone massages before at different salons and I prefer how they use those stones versus the jade stones which were soothing, but not worth the extra money. I think we would do the hot stone massage package next time which is less expensive and a bit more up our alley. But we wanted to try something new so we gave it a shot! We didn’t want the back scrub as part of that package so they just extended the massage time– which again was so accommodating and amazing. We will definitely be back and recommend you don’t walk here, but run here to get a massage and relax. Can’t wait to go back!

Massage last week at Spa Vana to celebrate our anniversary while visiting Newport. I had the pleasure of Dawn, who has Magical hands and my husband had Lisa, who was so skilled that she had my husband snoring! We live in NJ and I work in NYC and As a physical therapist I can honestly say that was hands down the best massage I have ever had! If you are visiting or in town you have To make a stop here! You will not be disappointed!

John and his staff are by far the most professional and talented in the business. Our large group (8 girls) have had the pleasure of going to Spavana for the last 4 years for our annual girls weekend and it is one of the highlights of the weekend. The spa treatments are one of a kind and we often find our selves relaxing in the tranquility room for hours after our services. Spavana epitomizes relaxation. Personally I always request Grace she is fantastic combining pressure and also the delicate touch where necessary. My tension filled shoulders are relaxed following 80 minutes of bliss. Can’t wait til next year.

I often awaken snoring because I become so relaxed at Spavana. I have dropped keys, my coat, wallet, anything in my hand because I can’t think right after a treatment. I love the facials because they include a massage, peel, microdermabrasion, serum, and a mask. Who would have thought you could become so relaxed while your blackheads were being removed?
Seriously, I found this place from my therapist who recommended John versus seeing a chiropractor. I agreed and have been getting treatments once or twice a month religiously. I give out gift cards to here because I know the person will love them. You can send a text to the front desk and they will call or text you right back. How cool is that? Book ahead of time because this little piece of heaven gets vied for fast.

Some of my students & their parents purchased a gift card for me to SpaVana. After setting up my appointment with Cory, he called me back after a few minutes because there must have been a mix-​up with the amount on the card vs the amount paid (there was a promotion going on at the time of purchase for transactions done in case verse credit). Anyway, he recognized that it was a strange amount and without me asking, he looked into the situation and called me back to offer the full amount listed on the card. It was so thoughtful & professional of Cory to follow through like that!
Upon arrival I felt relaxed. Between the soft music playing, and the comfortable tea room I was ready for my pampering. I given a complimentary bottle of water, though I didn’t drink it because I didn’t want to have to use the restroom in middle of the massage. I wish I had the opportunity to spend some time in the tea room after the massage to wake back up and enjoy some of the drinks they had to offer.
I got a «Imperial Jade Massage». The massage was for 80 minutes and I purchased the «deep tissue» add on for only $ 10 more. It was amazing! I had never had a treatment for that long before nor had I had this type with he hot jade stone. It was lovely and so relaxing. Ellie provided the perfect amount of pressure and attention to each area of my body.
I would definitely go here again! Overall it is a bit pricey, but most services are at least an hour. The facility is clean and there is ample parking. The staff I encountered were professional and caring.

As part of a girl’s weekend away, I was interested setting up massage appointments for our party of 4. I contacted SpaVana based upon the excellent reviews on Unilocal and Cory, John and staff did not disappoint. Count me in as one more person giving SpaVana a top rating!
First, I was very appreciative of the ease of setting up the appointments. The spa wasn’t certain if they’d be able to accommodate the 4 of us at the same time and Cory told me that he’d check into a few things and call me back to let me know either way. Within 1 hr of initially contacting him, he called me back and told me he could get us all in at the same time!
We walked in from the cold into a beautiful, calm and perfectly scented Victorian home. Cory took our coats, asked us if we wanted tea or water and we sat in the relaxation room while the therapists got ready.
We each had a few moments with our respective therapists to discuss any nagging areas or concerns. John was my therapist and he was amazing. He knew, based upon the response of my body, how much pressure to apply in the deep tissue massage. He addressed every area expertly and by the time he was done, I truly was in another world! I was sad to see my session end but should also note that my 1 hr massage was truly 1 hr. It wasn’t 10 mins of conversation and a 50 min massage — it was a full hour of heaven!
My three girlfriends all reported similar experiences. A warm and comfortable room, an expertly delivered massage and a full hour of rejuvenation. All of the therapists know what they are doing. Without a doubt, there are no amateurs here.
We have all had plenty of massages and deemed this to be among the top ever received.
In summary, from the moment that I first made contact with Cory to the moment that we reluctantly left the spa, the experience was top notch. I will absolutely return to this spa when I’m in the area next and hope that I’ll be able to take advantage of additional services. Love, love, love this spa!

My Fiancé and I enjoyed our first couples massage at SpaVana this past weekend.
Their customer service was really excellent. When I called earlier in the week to make an appointment, they talked me through the process and options, and even informed me of a promotion they were running to save money. I was nervous about the process as I’ve never had a massage before, but I felt good about the appointment.
When we arrived, we were greeted and invited into their Tea Room to wait. It was a really charming space. Our masseurs came to greet us and take us to the room. We chatted for a bit before we started and they explained what would happen and the benefits of massage. WOW — I really didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did. The 60 minutes went quick, and there wasn’t one part I didn’t enjoy. My fiancé really enjoyed his 60 minutes as well! Can’t wait to go back the next time we’re in Newport!

Went to newport for a minimoon and decided to surprise my husband with a couples massage. We chose the Moroccan Medley and had Grace and Ellie as our masseuses. From the start they were super sweet explaining exactly how the massage would work and ensuring we were comfortable with everything. This was my husband’s first massage and they really made him feel comfortable. The massage was exactly as described and included a mini facial and body scrub with keepsake brushes for us to take home. We walked out feeling relaxed, rejuvenated, and wishing we lived closer by to treat ourselves with such services more often.

And was hooked from day one. Grace made me feel comfortable right away and I’ve become a regular. I’ve had massages at other places and nothing compares. I love the relaxing atmosphere, friendly staff. Both John and Grace give excellent massages using different techniques
keep the experience fresh and always exceptional.

The spa is so cleverly decorated providing an Inviting atmosphere to step away for 75 minutes from our hectic schedules. Grace was so personable and attentive to what my body needed. She provided the firm pressure that I require to «detangle» the knots and release the tension within my TYPE A body. Lol. She applied innovative massage techniques while stretching the area she was working on to help soothe the tension. I will be visiting this place more often and I definitely recommend this tranquil heaven!

If I could give Spavana more stars, I would! The Middletown location has plenty of parking, a relaxing ambiance, and large, comfortable treatment rooms. All staff members are remarkably friendly. A great place to get away!
Grace at Spavana ranks among the best massages I have ever had. I need firm pressure to work out the knots in my upper back, neck, and shoulders, and Grace has the strength and technical knowledge to provide relief. I saw her regularly while we lived in Portsmouth. Grace is not only an expert at her craft, but also a pleasure to be around. Her positivity and humor put me at ease right away. I certainly recommend her to anyone and especially recommend her to others who are looking for firm pressure for knot relief! Thank you, Grace! I will miss you!

Although I live in West Palm Beach I do spend the summers in RI. I look forward to going to Spavanna for facials with John and massages with Grace. Anyone who hasn’t had treatments by these two are missing out! John is exceptional and without a doubt the best in all of New England
