This palace rocks! Best sushi I’ve had outside NY hands down. Love this place. Been going for 10 years now since they opened. If you haven’t been and live sushi then wait no longer. Get there!

I really enjoy sushi and have had good sushi in major cities around the world. Sushi Yama is truly exceptional! The food fresh and very tasty and the chef/artist amazing. I cannot recommend this place high enough.

If I could give Sushi Yama 10 stars I would. The best days to go there is Friday as that is when they have most of the«specials». Kevin is a great chef and if you ask will explain the«specials» in detail because some of them are so different you won’t find them in every sushi place. We are there every couple of weeks, not just on Friday’s because it is that good. The entire staff is friendly and courteous. Sushi Yama is highly recommended as a must at least try.

I was a little apprehensive about Sushi in Middletown but this place did not disappoint. I have definitely had better, but it was also much more expensive. The prices are very reasonable and the quality was good, would definitely repeat.

Sushi Yama is our«date night go to» place. We love their sushi. I usually get the family volcano roll. It’s not on their everyday menu, it was a special I tried once and have gotten it ever since. They are really good about making it even though it’s not on their menu. A few other repeats we do: — Dynamite Roll — Crazy Eel Roll — Spicy Salmon Roll — Surf and Turf Roll — Dancing Tuna(I believe that’s the name.) The staff is friendly and helpful. Depending on who you speak with, they are very good about call ahead seating. Sometimes if you don’t get one of the longer employed employees, they can give you a hard time about booth reservations. But there’s plenty of seating that it really doesn’t bother us. :)

We have been to this place twice. The first time was the same as the second. The sushi is not good. I honestly had more fresh sushi at a Chinese buffet. Plus it’s really expensive. The staff is really nice and their other foods are good but we aren’t going back.

delicious! Mt first time eating here and it was amazing. Since I had never been there I wish the waitress would have explained how it works: suggest different rolls, explain the menu, etc. The prices are cheaper than what I’m used to, will be back.

Stopped here for dinner on our drive home to NJ. Japanese spring roll appetizer on the specials menu was delicious. The miso soup was hot and tasty. The rolls were pretty good. My husband felt the rice might not have been cooked the ideal amount. Overall a good option when you don’t want to stop at a chain or fast food restaurant when driving through Delaware.

Outstanding! Tempura and sushi. We sat at the bar and watched the master pieces get made.

We moved to Middletown from Seattle last year, so we have very high standards for sushi. We were pleasantly surprised by sushi Yama. By Middletown standards this place is awesome so we feel lucky to have it so close. The lunch specials are a great deal too. The staff and chefs are always super nice and attentive.

I’ve eaten here many times over the years and I always get excited when the food comes out and then as soon as I start eating I am not so satisfied. This place is good as per Middletown standards, but not amazing in the overall. In a recent trip we ordered pan fried goyza that was so overcooked that it was dry and crunchy. The sushi was decent and satisfies the craving, but it’s nothing extraordinary, however, since this place is so close to home I can’t say I won’t go again.

Great sushi and nice service ! I would recommend trying their special rolls. For a god forsaken place like this, sushiyama is a godsend gift. Try them :) !!! If you are in Middletown and love sushi — come here for some food. If you are looking for a nice lean protein options — again this is a great place to be

Absolutely spectacular joint. Best sushi in all of fairfax. The sushi quality is off the charts as is their great range of rolls and other japanese treats. Without question my go to sushi joint in Fairfax.

We’ve ordered from here multiple times for both take out and dine in, and had excellent experiences each time. The sushi is delicious and fresh and is always done quickly. The staff is friendly and attentive. I recommend the Mexican Roll and shrimp tempura, but everything I’ve had has been delicious. One of the best parts of Sushi Yama is how reasonably priced it is. Sushi is never a cheap meal(if it is, reconsider your choice of restaurant), but for high quality sushi it’s really priced fairly. My only suggestion would be for a bit more adventure in the rolls. If they had a version of the Pocono Mountain Roll I may never eat anywhere else.

Service is great. Everything was good although the seaweed salad was not as good as I’ve had before…

Solid spot, but not fantastic. I’d give it 3.5 stars, if that were possible. The food is good. Everything fresh and well prepared. Selection is very standard nigiri/sashimi & standard rolls. Nothing too overly complicated, but nothing terribly interesting, either. Service is more or less mediocre. When you have to flag down your server every time you need anything — a refill on water, a dish for soy sauce, the bill — it’s hard to feel like they’re being attentive. If your expectations are appropriate for a sushi joint in a strip mall, you’ll leave satisfied. I would eat here again.

Ask for the Mama Roll! They also do a version of the Hairy Mexican if that is one of your faves. Staff is always nice and they get sushi made pretty quickly because they have multiple sushi chefs. So good!
