Staff is incredibly knowledgable, friendly and helpful. My boyfriend and I stopped here on the way to Cape Cod. I have never fished before and my boyfriend has only fished in freshwater. Alex got us completely setup – showed us the best lures for the money that can also be used back down in Georgia, taught us the best knots to use, helped us switch the hooked to special saltwater hooks, and set us up with swivel connectors so that our lines wouldn’t get tangled, ect. We weren’t sure if he would know the fishing situation in Cape Cod, but not only was he able to tell us what kinds of fish to expect, he was even able to give us advice about the best times of day and tides. Above and beyond my expectations. TL;DR: if you have ANY fishing needs while in the area this is the place to stop!

A great shop with an experienced staff. Big box stores and online retailers cannot compete with the level of personal service and local knowledge the staff have. The folks at Saltwater Edge take the time to help you get the right gear for what you’re doing and which makes the difference while you are out on the water.

Amazing service, helpful and friendly staff. I was on my way to Newport to run some errands and my cousin and I decided to stop by a local bait and fishing shop to pick up some supplies for our future trip crabbing. The place was located in a quiet, almost residential looking area which was really nice. Pulled up and a little boy came outside and excitedly exclaimed that they had a buffet inside! We smiled at his optimism and said thanks buddy and went inside. Upon entering, I wasn’t really all that impressed with the layout but man oh man was their service super stellar. The gentleman greeted us and had the most positive outlook on life. He talked about how he had sushi out back with fresh trout he just caught the previous day for us to try. He regaled us with with fishing achievements, like the 100lb fish that was pictured on the wall along with dozens of others. We ended up getting two crab catching rods that were fairly inexpensive and made of very durable materials. He showed us their nets and went into detail about how the smaller holed nets do this and the larger holed nets do that and it was very helpful. I loved my experience here and I am glad I was able to do business there.

I Just had to take a few seconds to write about the folks at Edge Angling. What a great shopping experience! Mike Morocco helped me sort out a payment issue(International Billing address etc), and it just made the entire process effortless. They even credited my 2-day shipping, and ensured speedy delivery for free since they could drop-ship from close by. I’m a very active online shopper(my first time with Edge Angling though), and this is as good as it gets! Thanks Mike & The team!

I’ve been a fan of Saltwater Edge since its early days on Thames Street. Whether you are casting flies, lures and plugs, or even bait(yes, they now have bait), Saltwater Edge can provide you with expert advice and all the equipment you’ll need to pursue inshore and offshore saltwater game fish. Rods, reels, line, and terminal tackle galore! If you prefer to tie your own flies or construct your own lures and plugs, Saltwater Edge has plenty of hooks and materials to satisfy your needs. Need advice on rigging a sluggo or artificial eel? They can help! Log onto their on-line forum and virtual fly shop( ) to find out where the fishing has been hot, or to read equipment reviews posted by real anglers. If you are planning to be in the Newport/Middletown area, be sure to stop by the Saltwater Edge, located at 47 Valley Road, Middletown, RI.

Great Great place to pick up tackle, accessories and some knowledge. The new location is now in Middletown and contains a whole lot moiré than just fly sighing stuff now. They have just about any plug that you have ever desired and if they don’t they will find it for you. This place is always willing to help you out with some tips– during the winter they also feature some seminars– last week in Feb. I went to a Tautog seminar I would recommend this place to anybody looking to buy stuff for plugging or fly fishing. Only thing is that they do not really have any bait(which is great for togging)
