Small breakfast place with the typical options. I had a waffle and eggs. Service was good, the food came out quickly. I had the waffle and eggs. The eggs were fine but the waffle was a bit cold when it came out and already had butter on the bottom. My wife had the chocolate chip pancakes, which she really enjoyed. The walls are adorned with interesting historical photos. This place is probably a better choice than the nearby ihop.

My husband and I stopped in for breakfast on a Saturday morning. I love the local feel of this restaurant, like a cozy diner with some personality. There were definitely lots of locals here, and the wait staff liked chatting with the customers. The whole restaurant smelled lightly of grease. The menu is on white boards on a wall. I opted for the breakfast burrito, and my husband got one of the special omelettes. The burrito was solid, but the omelette was pretty«meh» and possibly the flattest omelette I had ever seen.(I guess I prefer ‘em fluffier.) They didn’t mind that we had gotten coffee next door and brought it in. It took a while to get anyone’s attention to get the check even though it wasn’t full, but that might be an indication of the city person still in me. The prices are on point! Cash only.

Diner food with the feel of a hole in the wall café. Ordered my diner standard western omelette with potatoes and corn beef hash. Nothing stood out but everything was satisfying. Service was good and quick. worth a stop in if you’re nearby.

Unexpectedly good breakfast. Completely unassuming from the outside but packed with locals on the inside. Great omelette, tasty coffee and very friendly service. I had a spinach mushroom and it was a big portion, full of flavor and prepared just about perfect.

Excellent hometown comfort food. Here from NY and I’m picky with food. Great omletts… muffins and coffee. Off the beaten path makes it a cozy and calm breakfast experience. Definitely go here.

The food was great, staff very friendly and we loved the home feel of the place. Our first breakfast/brunch place since arriving on the island and I could definitely see us coming back again to eat. I’d recommend eating here to anyone

Meh. Hash browns were nothing but dried up diced potatoes. The sausage had a strange flavor. like burnt butter. My omelet was ok because it was cheesy. My rye toast came on a tiny paper plate. I’m glad it’s cash only so they can whack you $ 2.50 for the pleasure of making a withdrawal at their ATM.

Awesome café, family owned and local spot. The host is great and welcoming, and it’s great to see regulars there. The breakfast was delicious! I miss Rhode Island already. We decided to stop there on a whim because it was the only place which served breakfast super early. Everything else was closed. We were so happy about our experience here. If we were to stay at RI, we would be regulars as well!

This is a super cute café! Great service, our breakfast sandwiches and home fries came out very fast, and everything is cheap. Only downside was that they only accept cash so I had to use their atm for a $ 2.50 fee. We will definitely return with cash :)

Wasn’t sure what to expect upon stopping here. But… it is a cute place with very friendly staff. We ordered the specials. They came out fast and was delicious. Generous with the french fries too. We will definitely go back.

Great breakfast spot if you are looking for diner food. The service is fast, prices are cheap and the food is good! They mix chorizo in to a lot of their items like the hash and omelets which may not be unique for the area but it sure is appreciated! The only downside is they only accept cash which is fine as long as you know before you head in. Stop on in when you are craving some quality breakfast food and bring some cash money!

Nice little local spot. Kind of in a nondescript strip. Cash only. Good, cheap, and fast. Really can’t ask for much more. The corned beef hash was up there with the best I’ve had. Check it out.

3.612 stars Off the beaten path if you are in downtown Newport but it is worth the drive. A few places not that far away charge more and don’t provide a better meal in my opinion. It’s more of a homestyle restaurant the food comes out quickly and the staff is friendly. We had 3 breakfasts and coffee for $ 22 and change. The chourico(pronounced chareese) omelet was a little thin on the sausage but it was minced the way I like it. No complaints with the two eggs over easy with bacon and the 3 stack pancakes. This is more of a quick bfast before hitting the beach rather than a Sunday brunch place. * townie tip, from a HS buddy, thx M. * two rooms max is 55 people and it can get full. * a value for your $. * park right out front.

Having gone from weekender, to island resident, I waffle on my feelings about Chelsea’s. I love that they know me when I walk in, if only because my fiancé grew up here. I love that we can catch up on personal stuff with the gang here when they are slow enough to chat for a few minutes(which really doesn’t happen all that often). However, I too miss that particular«zing» Andrew F. mentioned regarding great breakfast. The food is good, don’t get me wrong. It’s just not that perfect, wow, out of this world amazing, I hope for in a diner setting. Cash only, so we are often swinging by the ATM on our way over. It’s small, and roomy isn’t a word I would use, so if it’s packed, you are close to your neighbors(but since they are sometimes actually your neighbors, most people don’t mind). At the end of the day there is something to be said for the familiar. From the way the staff is constantly greeting the regulars, they must be doing something right!

Pictures of John Deere tractors on the wall. Menu is written on the wall. Kitchen = a long flat griddle. So far, sounds like my kind of breakfast joint! I could smell the bacon and eggs cooking … what a great scent! Anyhow, on to the food! I had a Hawaiian(spelled incorrectly in the restaurant) Omelette … ham, pineapple, onions and green peppers. It sounded so great. It ended up being an average omelette. Same goes for the home fries that came with the meal. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great either. For some reason, the food didn’t have that special«zing». It’s hard to get that with breakfast … but, that’s what I expect out of a place that LOOKS the part. People here are nice though! Very nice and attentive servers. I could definitely see how people could be regulars here … All in all, there are better places on the island for breakfast. I’d come back here again though.
