The sign out front reads kelle’s Café. I stopped in because I drove by it several times while I was in Newport for a conference. It’s located just off the highway and close proximity to 138 West. I stopped in because I wanted a cup of coffee and a muffin or bagel before my long drive back to NJ. Perfect location! Quick in and out and away from the drama. I had a great cup of Swiss Chocolate Almond coffee, a very fresh baked blueberry corn muffin, and a very fresh cinnamon raisin bagel. Did I mention how big and fat the muffin was? I’m a coffee snob so I can tell you this was a very tasty cup of joe. The woman behind the counter was very pleasant. There were several small tables to sit as well. I’m glad I stopped in to support a local business and not a chain. If you want a great cup of coffee and some really nice baked goods before you get on the road, stop in. Come to think about it, stop by even if you aren’t getting on the road. I’ll be back!

Best local café on the island. We stop by daily, as does the majority of the clientele. Looking for a Starbucks style spot with lots of fancy coffee options? Keep driving downtown to Starbucks. Looking for a reasonable tasty bite at a friendly locally owned establishment? Stop at Kelle’s.

This is a sad little café just off the highway. When I arrived around 10am on a Sunday morning, there was only a single down-and-out customer seated at one of the ten sad tables in the seating area. I came here looking for a simple breakfast egg sandwich and A Little Café came up in a Google search. I ordered the sandwich. The sad cashier peeled one of those artificial egg patties off of some sad plastic, slopped it apathetically on a down-and-out, pre-cheesed English muffin and put it in the microwave. Then she rang me up. I almost left. I just wanted some eggs. This is not the place for that.(and they have a griddle!) Really faked me out.

This is a great spot! I stopped in with my girlfriend one morning because we noticed it right off the onramp, as many others stated. We had just moved to the area and didn’t know what to expect. We were so pleasantly surprised! The woman working was very friendly and checked on us while we were eating, even though she was also busy also working the register. The prices were very reasonable, and because of our great experience, we’ve already been back 3 times. Each time the café was as impressive as our first visit. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 just because of limited options, however it is a small business, so it’s very understandable. Also, when they didn’t have something I wanted, the pleasant woman working there helped guide me toward something similar she could make me. Definitely a fan of this place and plan on being a ‘regular’ !

After reading the reviews we were expecting something completely different than what we found. The roast beef and cheddar sandwich was amazing and overflowing. My gf got the frittata sandwich also very delicious on a whole wheat bagel. The décor is colorful and cute and the seating are black wicker chairs with small tables. Very quaint and cozy. I think we may have found our new spot.

Kelly’s little café is the kind of spot every town needs more of. On a waterlogged weekday morning I stopped in; i’ve driven past it a few dozen times and decided to give them a try. As Chris noted, the sunflower yellow paint will definitely get your attention. I didnt have any trouble getting to the spot, and the restaurant area looked like it was recently renovated.(Nice little fireplace, contemporary paint scheme, very quiet and cheery) Kelly(proprietor) was SUPER cheerful and helped me with my order; she gave me the run down about what the place offered, and some background on the establishment. Loved it. For breakfast, the Little Café offers locally made bagels(from Bagel Bros) with home made pastries. Coffee is brewed fresh and was much better than I expected.(chocolate raspberry house brew for me today, offered iced or hot) Sandwiches can be made on bagels or a variety of breads; I had egg and bacon on marbled rye. MUCH better than anything i’d see at Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks, at a comparitive price. All in all, i’m happy to know Little Café is there, and will definitely be giving my business to the local spot.

This place is in an unfortunate location right at the base of the exit ramp coming off the Newport Bridge. It’s inconvenient to get in to and out of. The place is painted sunflower yellow so you’ll see it, trust me. The interior isn’t that engaging, most of the seating is outdoor-looking chairs and tables on what feels like a temporary floor, giving you the feeling that you’re in a trailer. I don’t know why that matters, but it gave me a feeling of non-permanence. I had a pulled pork sandwich and my girl a tuna melt on rye, both were average to slightly less than average. I appreciate that the staff is super nice and everything is hand made, but in the end the sandwiches fell short. I will go back and give their muffins a try — they have a donut-shop style setup with all the muffins behind the counter, and they really did look yummy. I want to believe they are anyway, so this mom-n-pop place will survive. They are also caterers, I get the impression that most of their business is catering and not folks coming in to eat(since we were the only ones in there). I’ll give the muffins a try, otherwise I’d recommend skipping.
