Ok. So let me start by saying that NOTHING about the interior of this place makes you feel confident about the food. And that one of our 3 waters brought to the table came with the largest dead dried up bug floating on the top of the ice that I have ever seen. But having said that and not running out the door we waited to see what would come out next. WELL!!! The food was wonderful. Clean plates and well prepared food all delicious. No fishy flavors, just lovely. The spicy crispy shrimp roll was the best but really everything was tasty. The only dish– tempura veg needed to be deep fried longer to crisp up the batter. They could have gotten 5 stars if there was no bug in the glass.

Good experience here on a date with my wife. Lunch, teriyaki chicken, avocado sushi. Hostess was kinda grumpy but the cook guy Billy was pretty cool and conscientious of our low– salt request. Spent $ 24 before tip and took leftovers home. Like the atmosphere and lunch menu prices. Would return.

We love this place & now they have peel & eat shrimp, crab, lobster & mussels with your choice of sauce. My husband is a big fan of peel & eat shrimp so this is a big plus for us. I love sushi & my favorite roll here is the Florida roll. We come here a couple of times a month but that may increase with the new seafood options.

For a good sushi fix, I’ll take my business to HEB or some other supermarket because the sushi here is not only bad, it’s insulting — insulting to the product and it’s insulting to the food. Uneven pieces, badly butchered meat, and just a foul tasting rice. There is no technique at all to this place. I don’t think the people who run this restaurant understand what sushi is — for them, it feels like they just picked up a random cookbook(looked at the pictures) and said, it’s just sushi rice, seaweed, and roll it up. I don’t think they understand that it’s a balance of flavors and I don’t think they understand that it takes a specific skill to make it taste at least, decent.

The food is not to bad, but come when you have plenty of time to sit and wait. The service leaves more to be desired and it is frustrating to watch others get served that came in 20 minutes after you did.

Very slow service and the waitress smelled like urine. Better sushi at HEB. Wont recommend this place to anyone.

Finally got my sushi fix. Am I satisfied? Sure. With prices? No. Eh, since I’ve moved to this town I realized everything is more expensive. I’m okay with expensive as long as it was good quality food and not old looking. When we arrived the place looks decent. We sat at the sushi bar and the food/work area look a little unorganized but wasn’t going to judge. We order tempura California roll, 2 salmon hand roll, soul roll, and the rainbow roll. The best one was the soul roll.(Tempura shrimp and spicy tuna and crab over it) the food came out to be $ 50. It filled us up and I don’t feel sick so that’s a plus :) The service was average. She sat us, got us drinks, and gave us our bill. Umm probably be back because this is one of the only sushi place in Midland. :)

I’ve been here three times, and all three times we were not greeted when we came in. We walked in to an empty host station and had to look around for someone(often a server) to seat us. The service has never been great. The servers seem inexperienced, undertrained or just indifferent. Service is sometimes very slow even when the restaurant isn’t busy at all. All the times we have gone it has been on the odd tuesday or wednesday early afternoon with hardly any customers in the restaurant.(Maybe I should have taken this as a sign) The gyoza appetizer tasted bought rather than freshly made. The sushi rolls are freakin HUGE. So much so that they are hard to eat. To me, they taste okay. I’m not going to pretend to be some connoisseur. Honestly, the sushi at HEB is comparable to the sushi here. They put spicy mayo on way too much stuff. I understand that many people like the sauce but sheesh. I usually go for an eel roll or crunchy shrimp roll. They tend to be smaller than some of the other monstrous rolls. The hibachi food is not good. I ordered the vegetarian plate and the vegetables were all overcooked and mushy. I opted for the steamed rice since just replacing it with fried rice will cost you another 3 bucks.(Really?) The other two times I have gone I ordered the shrimp and chicken combination plate. Severely overcooked both times. The chicken was tough and the shrimp were so curled they were hardly recognizable. Why am I going to go somewhere and pay a small fortune for someone to cook my food for me when I, someone with no formal training, can do better by not overcooking my meal? The place needs a spring cleaning. You can smell it the moment you walk in. The carpet needs to be changed. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a bug problem. Two out of the three times I have gone, the owner was in the dining room just watching TV. I heard how he speaks to his staff, do yourselves a favor and work somewhere else. There are much better places to work in here in Midland. You don’t have to put up with someone like that. Newsflash: Just because you own a restaurant doesn’t mean you’ve «made it», buddy. Stop acting all high and mighty and rehaul your restaurant. I will not be returning. Go to HEB for your sushi and make your hibachi yourself.

I’ll start off that this was my first time here. I got it to go. I got a dragon roll and seaweed salad no cucumber. The place looks like your average sushi place that is not all done up for the novice Sushi eater. I got it to go since I just came out of work. The person at front took my order. He was trying to seat people at time. I went there at dinner time. So he juggled me in. Very appreciative. I got my food and left and it seemed to be a popular place for dinner. So I looked at it and smelled it and was excited to dig in. I had to stop at O’Reilly and get a part. That took about 15 minutes. I got home and food was good. The dragon roll was tasty. I played it safe. I read reviews but still tried it. The seaweed salad was good. I know that I’m in the desert. So it won’t be the best I’ve ever had. But good for here. Being from California I have been eating sushi for over 2 decades. And nothing beats eating it at a harbor Japanese old fashion restaurant over looking the ocean. But this was fine. I will definitely try it again. But at night. Seems like that’s when you get the best service.

This place is dirty and disgusting. We ordered sushi and were sitting at the sushi bar when I noticed a roach crawling on the counter. It went into the counter where they keep the fish for the sushi. The guy making the sushi rolls made it seem like it was no big deal. At that point we let the waitress know what happened and that we wouldn’t be eating there. She apologized and we left. We will not be back.

I enjoy going here. Being that’s it’s right around the corner from my house, the convenience is the main reason I go here but there are is another place I frequent a little more as the food barely edges this place out. Beware of the Ninja Assassin drink. You’ll wake up wondering what the food was like.

Cane at an odd hour. 2:00PM. The manager is working the sushi bar and doesn’t much seem like he knows what he’s doing. Ordered a salad with ginger dressing; waitress brought it with ranch so I had to send it back. Manager just made a roll that was friggin huge! Glad it was not mine. Ordered rainbow and sake(salmon) sushi. Order finished and actually looks really good. Fresh and cold. Actually it is really good. Gotta eat now. I will come back.

We sat at the sushi bar after the manager got our tea order. The sushi chef told us that a waitress would pick up our order. We left after 20 minutes of being ignored by the sushi bar guy and the waitresses. If you aren’t going to serve patrons at the sushi bar, don’t put chairs there.

I always have a much better experience here than at Bushido than at Osaka. The food is just better.

Last time I was here, my friend’s roe sushi was rotten. Like seriously, tasted like dead rotting flesh. Her boyfriend unfortunately had a big bite of it and almost gagged. I tried one roe and had to spit it out. I think they discounted their bill, but it’s risky eating unfresh sushi. I had the tornado roll, which was okay, a bit too spicy and stingy on the fish(it was mostly rice, but maybe it’s good I didn’t have too much of their raw fish).

I’m not going to pretend to be a connoisseur of sushi. I used to frequent the cheap and quick Sushi Zushi in San Antonio roughly once a week when I lived there. I just love sushi. What my hubby and I ate here(on his birthday, no less) was just strange. The rolls were gigantic, making them hard pick up and eat with chopsticks. The dumplings(our waitress mocked us when we actually ordered them by saying gyoza) tasted like they’d been stuffed with hamburger meat. It was edible, but gross. It was drowning in spicy mayo and eel sauce. And we got fortune cookies! Fortune cookies! Why?! We’re really hoping fo to find good sushi here in Midland. But it’s not looking probable.

To be frank, this place is inferior to Osaka. From what I’ve heard, the better chefs from Bushido moved over to Osaka and you can easily tell from the quality of the food. The meat comes out dry at Bushido while Osaka is usually respectable to decent overall. Weird Fact: The first time I went here with a coworker, this one waiter would literally stand to the side constantly staring at me. I’m not very sure why. Maybe there are not a lot of Asians(at the time) in Midland? But he definitely made the whole experience completely awkward. Even my coworker was freaking out. Summary: Save your money. Want a good Hibachi grill experience in Midland? Head over to Osaka.

I have NEVER had worse tasting sushi in my life and I would absolutely not eat it here again. Anyone that tells you they have good sushi or sashimi hasn’t gotten out of midland in a loooong time because they are dead wrong. Of course you don’t come to Midland expecting 5 star cuisine but really, this is beyond awful. They should be ashamed they even call it sushi. The crab they use is not real crab, it’s imitation. I choked this stuff down to be polite but had I not been in front of people I would have spit it out.
