This place has THE best steak in west Texas! The place is clean and the environment hip. The service is great and always overseen by the owners. This place is so good, I bring them alcohol for gifts. Parking can be a problem but worth the hassle.

Just your average every day Mexican place. Service was quick, food was fresh. You must try the corn queso app.

Best food in town! Consistent food and fabulous service. The staff is wonderful and the food is unique. It’s more southern Mexico and definitely not your run of the mill Tex– Mex.

This is one of our favorite bar and grills in Midland! Seated immediately, wait staff very nice, restaurant extremely clean and food selection more than adequate. Prompt service, well seasoned Mexican and seafood combination dishes and reasonable in price! Plus they are within walking distance of the Wall Street Lofts where I reside!

I ordered a salad and the greens were old, soft and wilted… like when you buy a box of mixed greens at your grocery store and you find it in your fridge a few days after it expired. The greens were so soft they clumped together with the dressing. Why would you even let this leave the kitchen? I would have preferred they tell me and I would have ordered something else off the menu. The off menu soy sauce marinated jalapeños was fantastic. Food aside, the restaurants décor was nice. Everyone in there seemed to be having a good time. I came here on the recommendation of a coworker. It will probably be the last time that I visit.

This is our new favorite restaurant in Midland. Service was great, food was excellent, and the Cancun Ritta was fantastic for the price. Cancun’ unique menu was a nice change from the same tired old menu all the other Mexican restaurants in Midland serve.

The food was great! The jalepeno shrimp was delicious. The mojitos were the best I’ve ever had. And the service was by far the best I have had in a very very long time!

Overall nice atmosphere for dinner. After reading previous reviews I tried the corn queso that was good but not the best I have ever had. I ordered the mixed fajitas and was pleasantly surprised with the tenderness and the portion size. The salsa was very good and the crown and coke wasn’t watered down which made the dinner very enjoyable. It was nice to come back to Texas and have some real Mexican food.

Do not eat the food. It’s… TEX-MEX. Dun dun dunnnnnnnnnn. However, enjoy a margarita and the awesome service :)

This is not your typical Mexican place, they actually have a good variety of steaks. I had the sope steak(steak over a gordita like corn patty). I thought the steak was pretty flavorful with a nice sear. I didn’t care so much for the sope, i prefer it more crispy and this one was soggy. Everything besides the steak was just ok.

This is not your normal Tex-Mex place as you should assume from its name, but rather a great change of pace for some great Mexican food. Start with some guacamole or corn queso along with a Mexican martini. Enchiladas and steaks are always good. I had their shrimp and crabmeat salad for lunch and it was awesome. It’s rare in this town right now, but Cancun Grill always has quick and attentive service. Definitely worth a taste!

I love this place. The soy sauce jalepenos are the best thing ever! Their corn queso is delicious and their hamburgers(strange for a Mexican food restaurant, I know) are AMAZING! They taste like there is chorizo in them… yum! Even the margaritas are tasty(and strong!) Midland isn’t known for their food, but this place is a really nice change from the typical Tex-Mex in Midland. Remember, this is NOT Tex-Mex, so if that’s what you’re expecting you will probably be disappointed. The service is always wonderful and they can accommodate large groups, however, they do not split checks so make sure you bring cash or use Venmo. Highly recommend!

Wonderful and friendly service! The owners are also the wait staff so they have their service on point. The bartender and drinks are superb. I could not recommend a better Mexican restaurant. The queso, enchiladas and steaks are great!

Being a business visitor I rely on Unilocal reviews. Maybe my experience was a one off, but it certainly did not live up with the other reviews. When my coworker and I entered, the restaurant had people but it certainly was not packed. There were many empty tables at the front. We were seated in the very back corner and when we asked why we were being seated there, the person that sat is made a joke and walked off. He got our drinks timely, but then we waited for a while and then we had to ask to order food. The food came out fairly promptly do that was a plus. That’s where it ends. Portions were quite small compared to Texas standards and taste wise we both agreed on a 5⁄10 on our respective plates. I got a tilapia dish and he ordered fajitas. My tilapia was rather bland and the sauce seemed to be just marinara out of a can. The lady cleared our table when she noticed our napkins in the dishes. We had to stop the waiter to get the bill and then stop him again to pick up the payment. No one seemed to be working with a smile. They weren’t rude, just not the friendliest. Our drinks were never refilled once, nor were we asked if we would have liked them refilled(water). It was not the best of experiences. Don’t think I will try this place next visit.

Average American Mexican restaurant, where the first page of the menu is Mexican food and the second is american with Mexican names. A lot of plates are way to expensive, just for the location. Seems more a night club than a bar, they barely have lights inside. Maximum disappointment was when they give us the salsa for the tortillas chips, usually any other Mexican place give you fresh diced tomatoes instead here is with tomatoe sauce. The corn queso is good as described by other reviews. If u don’t have anywhere else to go a possible choice.

Came here again for a co-worker’s going away luncheon. There was about 14 of us. The service was friendly and attentive even though it took a while to get our food. It was not as busy as I thought it would be on Friday. They give you free chips and salsa and uggh their salsa taste like picante sauce well actually let me take that back, it taste like ketchup with a hint of picante sauce. I did not feel like eating mexican food, since I had some the day before. So I ordered a chicken club sandwich with green chile. It was on top of a jalapeño cheese bread and had a roasted green anaheim chile in the middle. Also suppose to have bacon, but i got two burnt ones that shrunk down to as small as my pinky finger. lol I guess I shouldnt have ordred«american food» The chicken was good not dry at all but no flavor, I felt like i need some kind of cheese or mayo on this, the bread was more so sweet than savory. However, I did taste the ribeye tacos from my friends plate and they had no flavor at all. LIke it looked good, but it wasnt appetizing and my friend said the same thing. Improve on your flavors in food. My friend said that my chicken sandwich tasted better than her tacos. lol I think this place is not that good as everyone thinks, but this is west texas maybe this is the mexican food that everyone knows and likes?

Another great trip to Cancun Grill. Great service and atmosphere where girlfriend and I were able to get in and out in 45 min due to a movie we were trying to make. The Cancun Bistro is always a winner. Now I know these aren’t the best flavors you’re going to find but the service is what gives it four stars. A place where the waitstaff is attentive and the owner actually cares what is going on out on the floor and the kitchen. Just getting these two givens taken care of in this town are probably the biggest obstacle faced in Midland. I also enjoy sitting next to the window so I can eat and feel like I’m in a real city.

Ms T and I made a long weekend trip to the Midland-Odessa area to see what this part of Texas looks like. I had been as far west as Big Spring before, but never out this far west. We had a good trip and learned a lot about the Permian Basin oil patch. On our day of arrival, we toured the George W Bush Childhood Home, then hit The Wine Rack for a craft beer and then went to Cancun Bar & Grill for dinner before driving back to our hotel in Odessa. Cancun, true to its name really focuses on seafood. It was not really the style of Mexican we were looking for, preferring more central Mexico, but it was OK. We started with the complimentary salsa and chips. Our server was a real salesperson and sold me on trying the queso dip with corn. The complimentary salsa was tomato with mild red chile flavor. It was very tame, needed salt but was OK for the style. It is very simple and does not have any complexity. Think tomato sauce with a little red chile. The queso was pretty good, although Ms T did not care for the serious sweetness that the corn adds. I found that when mixed on a chip with some of the red sauce, both were better. They serve the tasteless thin«restaurant style» chips. Ms T chose Shrimp and Tilapia Tacos. These really needed the addition of lime(which you have to ask for) and salt. They were really unseasoned. They were served on soft white corn tortillas, which is good and after dressing them up a bit they were OK. These would be so easy to season better, at least the seafood was not fried. They were accompanied by a sweet cabbage slaw that was apparently dressed with Miracle Whip. This was not the right dressing to accompany the seafood. I ordered Seafood Enchiladas. They were covered with a thin cheese sauce and included shrimp, sweet corn and a little mild green chile. Overall these were also pretty bland. The seafood did not have a lot of flavor so again, seasoning and more green chile would help. They were accompanied by sautéed vegetables which were very garlicky and plain rice. I liked the vegetables OK, they were not overcooked. Their guacamole was made for us «special» without onion. The server made a big deal about doing this for us, whether true or not. The guac did not really seem fresh as it was off color, sort of brown and since we did find a little onion, we suspected that they tried to pick the onion out of what they already had. At best, the avocados were past their prime. It included a little tomato and chiles jalapenos but it also lacked salt and lime. Our server was nice but frenetic or maybe just coked to the gills. She spoke at 5000 words per minute and I understood maybe 20% of it even though it was not heavily accented. I was just able to communicate with her. The service was«too good». We were constantly being bothered by the server and the bored water girl, seeing if everything was OK. You know what I mean, there is a right level of attention you need and this far exceeded it. Our meal was OK. My main issue was lack of seasoning on pretty much everything; the red salsa, the shrimp and tilapia, the seafood in the enchiladas and the guacamole. All were bland, not bad food, just bland. Without access to the wonderful fresh seafood that you get on the Mexican coasts, this place needs to work on seasoning and perhaps getting some real grill flavor into the seafood. Oh, and maybe an intervention for our server. This was a 2−½ star meal, rounded up to 3 stars.

Nothing here really blew me away. It was good but it wasn’t amazing. It is around $ 15 – 20 a plate. The queso with corn in it was pretty good — but I love corn so I’m partial. I ordered the mahi mahi tacos and they were OK but not the best I’ve ever had… the mahi mahi pieces were huge. My friends ordered bacon-wrapped shrimp which came with these delicious marinated in soy jalapeño peppers and I LOVED them — best part of the meal if you ask me. Again — not amazing — but good.
