I absolutely love this place! I have never been disappointed! Make sure to come early if you don’t want to wait! Their coconut curry chicken is amazing!

My favorite Thai place I’ve ever been too! I live in Austin now but I was a regular here when I worked across the street at Citibank. Now that I’m in Austin 3 years later, I’m pregnant and I’m DYING for the sesame chicken Popcorn(the owner) created. No other Thai restaurants serve this dish and it’s not the deep fried and battered chicken dish you typically would think of when you hear Sesame Chicken. This chicken is a very healthy non battered chicken with red bell peppers, green onion, cashews, water chestnuts, sesame seeds and this sauce THATSAMAZING. It’s listed as Chili Oil but it’s so much more and the Jasmine rice that’s served with it is amazing mixed into this saucy stir fried chicken combination. WOW can’t you hear my lingering desire for more right now?! Haha but seriously I may or may not have considered visiting a friend in Midland as an excuse to eat here. I’m reposting a picture of this dish from someone that reviewed the other location on midland drive that supposedly shut down… mainly so I can revisit this picture and reminisce. If you try this dish, think of me.

New favorite place! This marathon running chef, Popcorn has a fit menu of veggies, rice and meats with massive Thai Flare. Yes it is crammed in here but well worth it! Lunch menu is diverse. My sidekick had the king and I noodles, and for once, this has never happened, I wished I would have chosen that over the Yellow Curry. Full of veggies, huge bowl of rice noodles and chicken. Mine was more carbs and curry. Good but a little watery. Both dishes needed heat. But being in the land of gringos, we had to ask and got the carrier of 4 spice rack with the plastic spoons that is dropped on everyones table. So I licked all the spoons and put them back in for the next person. JUSTKIDDING! Place just had a turn over of ppl and all the tables were dirty. We did not care. We plopped down and quickly were taken care of with a wipe wipe and a drink order. Side note… The side you park on, yeah you have to walk around the bldg. No idea why. But you look like a $#%^ trying to open the door, bc the sign says open other door. It should say«walk around the bldg.» They are now open on Saturday, «if Popcorn is not running» HAHA! See ya there.

They never NEVER answer their damn phones. The food is pretty good, but you can’t ever get in contact with them to place an order. So frustrating!

The food is mediocre at best, and that is only for a few menu items. So when I went in for lunch today and was finally served after half the tables that showed up after us were given their food, I was less than pleased. My complaint about the service fell on deaf ears as I was told they were busy and doing their best. If what I experienced was their best, then I shudder as to what their worst might be. If you serve bad food then you better have some stellar service, or else what are you even doing?

King and I is my FAVORITE place to eat at in Midland. I dont know how I stumbled upon this place, but I’m so glad I did. I actually hate that it took me so long to review this restaurant. My favorite(and really, only dish) that I get there is the Spicy Chicken. I love that they use jalapenos in the dish. I wish I knew what they put in the broth, because it really makes the dish! I love their wonton soup, the broth is the best broth I’ve had in a while. I just dont like the weird pork strips in it. It kind of creeps me out a little, haha. Any of their rolls are delicious. You cant go wrong with that. And I like their mango/sticky rice dessert. Cant go wrong with that. My ONLY gripe about this place is the cost. This is Midland, I guess. But for that reason I cant visit as much as I’d like!

Every place has an off night and I guess tonight was the night for this place. Very slow service. My wife had to send her Marathon Bowl back. They brought the dish back but did nothing but put it on the griddle to warm it up. The rice in the bowl was cold and hadn’t even been warmed up when my wife sent it back. When it came back, there were shrimp tails in the bowl. Come on Popcorn! The dish was not prepared properly in the first place and it should have been redone. I ordered the Shirley Special which is my go to dish. The shrimp was rubbery and under cooked. I should have sent mine back but I wanted to get home. All in we got there about 7:30 and we left a little after 9:00. I guess the cook had a long day and wanted to go home too!

The guy that owns the place is an active local so you’ll see him around town, at races, biking, etc. The place is small but decorated with tons of the owners race bibs/medals/etc. As a fellow runner, its pretty cool! I got the marathon bowl, it was light, fresh, non-greasy, and filling! It has tofu, chicken, and shrimp, a brothy sauce, and brown rice. It was satisfying, tasty, and filling. My mother got a green curry and thought it could use a little more spice but enjoyed it. Father had the yellow curry, also gave thumbs up. For Midland TX, you can’t get better than this!

I was told this was the best Thai place to go to in Midland and was also told that I need to go asap because there are rumors that the family maybe moving back to Austin. Usually when I go to a Thai restaurant, I always order the papaya salad and Thai tea. determine if the rest of the food will be good. No papaya salad and was told the Thai tea was just made with an instant powder. =( We decided to try a couple things and decided to go with the pad thai, chicken green curry, combination Kee Mao, and custard sticky rice. Pad thai was a bit bland to me and missing all the great flavors associated with pad thai. Kee Mao: I asked for it to be spicy. They did a great job making it spicy but I thought the noodle was a bit dry and the meat a bit over cooked. The green curry was good but it is very thin. The best thing I had was the custard sticky rice. It really hit the spot. I wanted the mango sticky rice but they were all out. I don’t understand how they can be out when I came in at 5 when they just open but sticky the custard sticky rice! I would of given it 3 ½ star if I could. Overall, I think it is good for Midland and great considering there is not a lot of Asian food out here. I think the price is fine with the amount you get.

One of two Thai restaurants in Midland, Texas. Maybe I’m a little harsh with the rating, but I can not get around how people think«Phad Thai» from here is even Phad Thai… This place very small and tidy. I ordered Togo and maybe I ordered the wrong thing, and could have rated this place a little bit higher? But the Phad Thai(one of the most known Thai food) absolutely had no flavor. I was craving that tamarind sweet sauce they use for the dish, but instead I had to add soy sauce and sirarcha. The chicken was also on the dried side. A dish of Phad Thai was about $ 10. Pretty disappointing!

Pretty damn good considering it’s in Midland. Would recommend if you stop by here. Healthy selection and reasonably priced. King and I bowl was a little watery and the fried rice wasn’t quite fried enough. Still ate all of both(two separate occasions). I really recommend the egg rolls!

Had the Panang curry, it was the right amount of spice but the curry was pretty watery for my liking. We also try the chicken pad Thai and the mango custard with sticky rice dessert. Both items were just ok. I guess this may be very good compared to other Thai places in this area but I’ve personally have had better. I do need to note that they have a greatest selection and healthy choices such as brown rice and quinoa.

By far the best Asian food in West Texas! While some people complain about prices, I don’t have that issue. Nobody is cheap anymore. Also, I worked in restaurants for years and definitely appreciate someone needing to make it worth their while. Atmosphere is a little lacking, but most places focus on one thing. The King & I focus on quality food. Worth it to me!

I eat here at least once per week sometimes more. Food is authentic and healthy fresh. Marathon bowl with brown rice, Siam spaghetti, fried tofu are my favorites. Everything is tasty.

First time here and thought the restaurant was cozy. I thought all the running medals were neat and a unique touch to this local restaurant. I had the Siam pad Thai and my wife the red curry. While my dish was good(not sure how pad Thai can get messed up badly) my wife’s did not look as appetizing though she said it was ok. The red curry though might have tasted good looked a little lifeless. The prices were also high for a Thai place. Will come back and try more options.

I love Thai but this joint just doesn’t satisfy me. It is tiny, I mean really tight squeeze during lunch. The selection is okay. I had the pad Thai and it was just okay. Service is pretty good. Theres better in town and Thai house is the best option.

I like ya’lls place but 6 bucks(plus credit card fee, yes check your receipt, it’s on there, and tip if you eat in totaling nearly 10 dollars) for the large wonton is a little ridiculous. You could get a giant bowl of phở anywhere else for 8 bucks. I guess we’re in Midland though… where you can’t get phở… *sigh* Alas, I haven’t ever been disapointed with the food here but the prices always put me off. I deal with it anyways because there are no other Thai places in town when Thai House family is gone back to Thailand for the whole summer.

My coworker took me to lunch and she wanted to eat at this place. I said OK wasn’t expecting much. They serve Thai tea now! :) also their fit menu is a nice addition some dishes reminds me of more Vietnamese food instead of «thai». It is kinda pricey tho for items on fit menu.

Darn good Thai food given it’s Midland zip code. Can you find better Thai food in Dallas or Houston? Probably. However, I find The King and I to be on par with most of the locally owned Thai restaurants I have tried in the Dallas area. It definitely hits the spot when I am craving that authentic Thai flavor. It definitely competes with ChuChai or Thai Pepper in Lubbock. I would definitely say this I the best Thai food I’ve had in Midland Pros: Locally owned Authentic flavors Friendly staff Fast service «Fit menu» available Cons: Small dining room I could use a little more heat and/or mint in the dishes Recommend: Chicken Sew-Ew Chicken Siam Pad Thai
