We had about 25 people for a birthday lunch. I thought the service was great! Our table was set up in an L-shaped which made it hard to talk to everyone but we were in a big enough area to get up and talk to the person across the table if we wanted. The wait wasn’t long to get our food and everyone was really nice. I ordered the Basic Burger without Mayo with regular french fries and split it with a friend. The burgers were decent sized, I think you can finish them in one sitting if you were really hungry. I was really excited for the fries, because they looked perfectly seasoned with a bit of shredded cheese on them. But I was so disappointed. They were cold and greasy and wasn’t even perfectly seasoned. My friends next to me ordered a burger with sweet potato fries and those were heaven. I don’t even like sweet potato but these were delicious! They were crispy, not soggy and seasoned with a kick of spice! I would definitely come again for the sweet potato fries.

Over priced, our waiter had no idea what he was doing, and if we’d ask for drink refills he’d roll his eyes at us. The food was okay, but just over priced for what it was. The Unilocal check in free onion rings were really good, but really that’s about it. I won’t be going back, there are so many other good burger places in this town.

I would give the food 5 stars. However the service was poor. The place was not busy, so that was not the issue. Only 6 tables occupied. Our server spent more time on her phone and talking to two other guys also working there. I normally tip very well, but not this time.

Service is very slow. Took 15 minutes for a glass of tea. Waitress was never around to get refills. I had to ask another server to help. I ordered the basic cheeseburger; requested it be cooked medium and it came out well done and dry. took so long to get it i didnt want to wait another half hour for a new one. the best part of the meal were the fries. I ended up leaving half a burger and ate the fries. I had ordered a basket of onion rings for appetizer and they were pleasantly good. So in essence i’ve been here twice, first and last time…

A must visit spot. Delicious seasoning on the fries, great tasting bun and hamburger meat. I enjoyed the one with blue cheese and my coworker enjoyed the Texas one with bacon and bbq sauce. We also ordered drinks and dessert, and it was all delicious. Great atmosphere and décor, plenty of tvs, and my favorite feature was the garage style patio with options to sit inside or out!

Still slower than dirt even during the downturn. Pathetic. And they overcooked my burger. Again.

I’ve eaten here three or four times over the last two years, and every time I have, I am blown away by how absolutely terrible the service is. The food is good, the drinks are good, but it honestly is like all of the waitstaff is on their first day of waiting tables ever. You would think management would figure out how to hire better waitstaff, or at least teach them how waiting tables works.

Waited for ever for a burger at the bar — finally asked the manager what the heck as the bar tender kept telling me any minute — as it turns out my order was never sent to kitchen — sit at bar + 1 hour and 30 minutes to get a burger = BADTOTERRIBLESERVICE!!!

I love the green chili burger from basin. They cook the fried egg as good as anyone in town for a burger and they also have a great beer selection.

Terrible service and the food was even worse. The entrees came out cold and we never received a refill. The salmon was still frozen. It took forever to pay out and we will not be back.

I love the atmosphere but the food was okay. We came for breakfast/brunch. I got the eggs Benedict and my friend got the chicken and waffles. The eggs benedict was okay. The waffle was good but the chicken was not. It tasted and smelled old.

The burgers are good. My friend had the meatloaf burger and I had the chile verde. But…service wasn’t anything to write to Mama about. The order brought out was wrong, the fries were cold, and the wait person didn’t offer refills: we had to ask. Music volume cranked. Must have known my hearing isn’t so hot. Atmosphere cohesive, flows — features oil industry. Go figure. Great huge painting of rig workers over bar.

Great service here! Our first trip here and my wife and I were impressed by the openness and cleanliness of the BBH. It was very slow and quiet on this Saturday night. We had heard of poor service here, but a friend of mine living in Midland told me there had been a recent total change in management and staff, so we stopped in. Billie(?) our waitress was superb. Asked for and recieved my free Unilocal-Check-In basket of O-Rings: Greasy goodness with a good tangy sauce. We shared a half order of the Brisket Nachos as an appetizer. We enjoyed them. Chips were fresh and crisp, loaded with cheese and pico, and the brisket was well flavored. We split the Texas Burger(Bacon, Onion, Cheddar, BBQ sauce). Good taste to it; a moist, juicy, perfectly cooked patty. The bun was on the smallish side I thought. The BBQ sauce had a nice blend of sweetness & tang. The sweet potato fries were lukewarm and not very tasty. Just plain bad! The highlight of the meal wasn’t the burger, it was definetly their homemade Chocolate Cupcake. Super moist, with fabulous icing, and a surprising rich warm lava center: make sure you have them briefly heat it prior to serving. I was disappointed that they no longer serve shakes; Their old menu of shakes looked awesome. We may try this place again when its warmer and we can eat outside; the outdoor patio area looked kinda cool. We both give the Midland Burger War round #1 to Grub Burger Bar — no contest. Burgers are better there, and Grub’s sweet potato waffle fries are on a level all to themselves on this world. Plus Grub has ice cream shakes — their market shakes are usually unbelievable. I’d give BBH a try if you are looking for another spot besides Grub to meet your burger craving.

Pros: non-smoking, cool layout, creative menu, clean, it’s possible to get good service and good food. Cons: there is perpetually something wrong. Either the host has an attitude or is inattentive, the service is woefully slow, or the food comes out and there’s just something not quite right. I keep thinking its going to get better, and it just hasn’t…yet.

I’ve only been here twice The first time I went to get food to go. They were really slow but gave me a free basket of onion rings while I waited. I’ve had onion rings that good but none better. I’m 62, love onion rings so what does that tell you? This was in July 2014. When I finally got the burgers and took them home they were good but cold. We were just moving into our new(old, redone) house. My Mom, Dad, and wife were unhappy about cold food when I got home. I live at Murray and Golf Course, not really that far. The second visit, last week was really sad. I meant to complain about the service but in retrospect I have no concrete, personal evidence that they have service. There was nobody at the front desk and no sign saying wait to be seated or seat yourself. Three people walked in before me. They stood around for a while and then grabbed some menus and found a table. I followed their lead, got a menu, and sat down at the diner-style counter. There was a guy who looked like manager behind the counter. He was looking into the kitchen waiting for a burger. A waitress, I assume, came and got the burger and left with it. I was the only person at the counter which has 10 – 15 stools. I’m 6′ tall, have a little bit of blond hair left, have blue eyes, and was wearing a shirt with a collar and jeans. Expensive running shoes. Bright yellow. Shoes, not me. Point being. I’m not invisible and I can afford a hamburger. I would really have been able to pay for my meal. And, to me, $ 12 is an expensive burger. After the waitress(I’m assuming) left with the burger. The manager guy(I’m assuming) turned his back to me looking into the kitchen for another meal. I had through the menu and decided what I wanted and pushed in down the counter in what(I’m assuming) is the universal sign that I’m ready to order something. I went at 1:30 in the afternoon to avoid the lunch rush so I was(assuming, again) that they wouldn’t be as slow as the first time I went. I sat at the counter for ten minutes, gave up, and left. At no time while I was there did anyone look me in the eye or speak to me except for the three people who walked in before me. I noticed that a lady with a black Basin Burger T-shirt was standing at the table talking to the three people who preceded me. She might have been waitress(I assume). I saw some people eating in the restaurant. In retrospect I now think the guy behind the counter was a customer and his friend was preparing their meal. I’ve heard about these places where you cook your own food. That’s why they weren’t concerned about me. You probably get a free T-shirt so that would explain customers looking like service employees. Now I get it. This is one of those secret, elite, chef clubs. The billionaire owners set up a different place every month and send emails to each other explaining this month’s menu. I didn’t get the email. I left my invisibility cloak in my X-Wing Fighter and locked the keys inside. So I know I didn’t have it on. I could have used The Force to get them but just decided to take my wife’s Lexus instead since she’s up near Denver visiting her Mom for the week. $ 35 oil means Midland’s economy is going down the sewer. $ 16 hour jobs at burger joints are going away. My first paying job was at a restaurant in California where I cleaned the toilets, vacuumed, washed dishes, etc. If someone threw up I cleaned it up and didn’t get a piece of tips. We didn’t have this kind of elite place back then. Sorry for the bad review. Sure explains the best onion rings in Midland though. If you can get some. Rob

Atmosphere is acceptable, it is a burger house/sports bar. Light and airy, spacy too. Can be uncomfortably loud when full. Our waiter was attentive. We each ordered a burger with sweet potato fries and tea. The wait for our food wasn’t long. It arrived hot and plentiful. However the burgers were supposed to be medium, but we’re well done and then some. One burger wasn’t a portobello burger which was on the menu and ordered, but no longer offered! Deb’s burger had an egg and poblano pepper! On top of her mixup, the beef patty was over cooked past well done, but this side of carbon. It was brought to the attention of the staff who apologized and comp’d her sandwich.(The pleasant staff did offer to replace her burger, but she didn’t want to wait) The other burger may have been better had it not been well done and the home made bun not so thick and heavy! We both agreed the sweet potato fries were the best ever. Fuddruckers does a better burger at a lower price. We were disappointed. We’re not likely to return.

Great burgers on some days, questioning if they cooked this right on other days. Hot crispy fries on some days, asking the waiter why my fries are cold on other days. Great service on some days, rude waiters on other days. I’m conflicted when writing this review because Basin Burger is my favorite restaurant in Midland; however, they are just so inconsistent with their food and service that sometimes, my friends and I just don’t always want to take the risk without getting frustrated. Granted, I’ve had more hits then misses but this place shouldn’t have any misses. This place could easily be a 4 or 5 star place but its surprising how I could have a good experience one night and a terrible experience nights later.

We waited an hour for our burgers. We were about to walk out, but one of our coworkers at the other table had surprisingly paid for our meal when they finished their food and we did not know until the waitress told us. So we felt bad and since we waited so damn long for our food already, might as well wait another 10 minutes. I do not know if they are understaffed or people in the kitchen don’t know what they are doing, but I swear I never waited for food so long in my life. I am a regular here since I work Downtown, but I have seen the service and quality of food go down each time.

I decided to try this place out because they specialize in two things I love. Burgers and fries. Previous reviews indicated service could be lacking but I know that could just be a bad server or waitress so I overlooked that part. My initial experience upon walking in was good. There’s three main seating area and the hostess asked where I wanted to sit which I liked because of the choices. I sat with a view of their open kitchen. My waitress was slow delivering my drink order of water but apologized as she was finishing up with a large group. I like lots of time to review the menu anyway. I do like the fact that there is a good selection of craft beers. I decided to get a Tenlingua Gold from Big Bend Brewery out of Alpine. It was served in a can with a very cold glass, which I really enjoyed as I can read the can and do my own pours. I ended up ordering a Mexi burger and regular fries. The burger was great! I love the seasoning of the meat, not overcooked, and the bun was sweet and homemade. The fries was cut there as well and not frozen junk. The parmesian on the fries was a nice touch. The topping on my burger– jalapeños, guac, aioli sauce, cheese– we’re all great. Overall I was very satisfied with the food of this place. Good burgers. The only thing preventing me from giving it 5 stars is the service and price. For example, my waitress never brought me silverware and napkins. Also, the burgers will run you $ 12 – 13 with a standard side. Add a drink and you’re approaching $ 20 bucks. I’d still recommend it though. I’m Satisfied.

Probably the best burger joint in Midland, TX. It is a must try! Even their basic burger is delicious and mouth watering. They have a few to choose from, they’re all spectacular! I usually order the French fries or the sweet potatoes as a side. You also MUST try their shakes, especially if you’re a fan of Nutella. The only reason I do not give them 5 stars, is service. As for most places in the midland odessa area: all service sucks! They forgot my appetizer and when I ordered the milkshake they brought me the wrong one. All said and done, it’s a good place to try if you’re a burger lover like I am. Also, bathroom are clean :) I will definitely be returning on my work trips to midland.
