The food is very good but I find the menu selections limited and have had bad and even rude service. Based on the treatment on my last visit, I won’t go back again.

Small venue with huge flavors! Perfect place for«lunch with the ladies» Service was very nice, food was delicious. Only complaint is they need to expand their sit down eating area.

This place has pretty good food, granted we’ve only eaten the paninis and grilled cheese. The gelato is fantastic as well as the desserts! Definitely a great place to buy a dessert if you need to go to a party and bring something or if you just want a small slice of heaven :). The regular menu is a little pricey

I was excited to stop by this place because I heard they offered a good variety of gluten-free treats, and I had a serious dessert craving, but I was not feeling well enough to whip something up myself. Besides, what better cure is there for feeling crappy than sweet and fluffy baked goodness? So I walk in and, first off, I was pretty taken aback by how chic and elegant the atmosphere was for a dessert place. It has a very sleek, restaurant-like feel. The next thing that surprised me was the variety of desserts available. I would’ve never expected to see gelato, but it looked delicious! My mouth is watering right now as I’m picturing all of the delicious-looking flavors. When I went, there were gluten-free brownies, gluten-free cupcakes, macarons, and a flourless chocolate cake. The prices were a bit pricey, even compared to the already pricey high-end bakery competition in the area. That being said, I’ve been gluten-free for a number of years now and, with an experienced eye, you can definitely look at something and see if a gluten-free baked item is up-to-par or not. Those cupcakes did not look like too palatable. They were flat and appeared gritty. That is never a good sign. They were also priced higher than anywhere else in the area. However, there was one safe-looking option. I went for the flourless chocolate cake with the raspberry filling and chocolate ganache. When it comes to gluten-free options, «flourless» is not my top pick, but it works in a pinch. I had a craving for something chocolatey and rich, but I found the cake to be bland. The texture was great – soft, moist, and tender with the perfect crumb. With such technical expertise in the cake texture and structure, I was very much let down by the taste. The flavor just missed the mark. There was no real foreground flavor to speak of. The chocolate flavor was mild and the raspberry was barely perceivable. Even the ganache lacked that rich, chocolatey punch. Flourless chocolate cakes, especially with ganache, are supposed to give you a deep, rich, chocolatey kick in the pants, in the best of ways, but it just was not there. My verdict, it wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great either. What I tried didn’t stand out enough for me to go back. If I knew the price of the gelato(which I looked all over the wall menu and display case for), then I would perhaps consider returning, but since I found everything else to be a bit overpriced, I wouldn’t take the risk on surprise pricing. It’s probably safe to assume that it, too, will be a bit inflated.

This place is BEAUTIFUL, all of the decorations are like a little night in Italy. The customer service is incredible as well. Came in one night with a group and about 3 people came up to help accommodate us and made us feel very welcomed. Every thing I have tried is absolutely amazing so far. Always bring my friends and family here when they come in from out of town. If you haven’t been here yet I highly recommend you try it!

The Chocolate Disarrono cake is absolute heaven. My native New Jersey-ian husband craves their Florentine lace cookies. He’s says they remind him if his childhood.

The whole reason I returned back to the DREADFUL East Coast(but I guess Richmond is considered the South) 12 years later was for a Baby shower. My friend and Soror from Howard U was expecting a baby boy. and well… go back to the East Coast, Val. You have to. It’s time, Dear. It’s time. So I drove down from DC to Richmond to show my love and support. Well…I liked The Desserterie. The venue was spacious, the food was unexpectedly good(not gonna lie… I had my doubts coming in. I thought it’d be pretty average.), and the waitstaff was prompt. The servers were so kind! I ended up buying rounds of mimosas for those who wanted it, and let me tell you honey… they did not hold back on the champagne. NOPE! I think I was hugging on EVERYBODY before it was over. Thank you for making the event a delight. And that quiche. that QUICHE, Unilocal

We visited the Desserterie for a little snack after lunch. The place was nice decorated, clean and server was very friendly. Everything in the display window looked delicious. I ordered the Lemon Chess tart and Cort had the brownie. We were happy with both of our selections. We had a big lunch earlier and could only eat a couple of bites and were full. Their lunch specials looked really good though. We are definitely going back to try the quiche and soups.

Excellent service and we were very pleasantly surprised to find that dinner is a special event here! I had the filet with mushroom risotto and my dinner companion had the chicken Marsala! Both were perfection! We had a cocktail each before dinner and they were perfect as well! Now for some peanut butter gelato and banana walnut cake! Or maybe a pistachio cannoli!

I come here often with«ladies who lunch». The food is a little pricey for what you get and the menu isn’t very extensive, but notice I said I come here often. That’s because it is consistently good. Their quiche is excellent and quite a sizable piece although I somehow manage to eat all of it.. I also enjoy their chicken salad wrap and panini. They have unusual soups that are healthy and organic so you can splurge on dessert. I’m not a huge fan of most of their desserts, probably because baking is my thing and I’d rather eat what I bake rather than anyone else’s baked goods, but others think they are top notch. The gelato is definitely quite yummy. Happy to have this fresh alternative on our side of the river!

I met a friend here for brunch recently and I was not disappointed! I was really enjoyed my quiche, which was butternut squash. It was very flavorful. The server was very attentive without being overbearing. It’s kind of small inside, but not super cramped. The dessert case look very appetizing. I’m pretty sure I will find my way back to grab some cookies and treats.

Came with my siblings who were from out of town for dessert. We loved it all. We tried the tiramisu cupcake, the bourbon tart, the cannoli and mocha gelato. Some of the best gelato I’ve tasted in this area. All of the desserts were delicious. And we also ordered Christmas cookies to go. Yummy!

Whoa… What happened to this place? When they 1st opened I went for some amazing Italian style cookies, and chocolate something or another for wifey, and now they are a fantastic dining establishment on the southside with an impressive selection of dishes, wine, desserts, and great outside heated area that they had to open up. To the owners: VERYWELLDONE, and thank you for giving us this great option without us having to cross the«RIVA.»

For years I didn’t come here, the name made me think it was just desserts. But no — lunch and dinner served. I’ve been here 2 times for lunch and had to come back again for the smoked gouda grilled cheese sandwich, on thick heavy bread slices, so much flavor. Treat yourself and get it with the prosciutto, even better. The restaurant is bigger that you think from the front. It has a front counter with the dessert display and several booths, but to the left is a heavy tented gazebo area, it’s a little hotter in summer and a little cooler in winter but a wonderful place for big groups. My ladies group went and they accommodated us at two big tables efficiently, even with separate checks for 18. This week three of us went again, and for regular lunches you order and pay at the counter, put a number tent on your table and they serve at the table. Food came out quickly and all of us thought it was delicious. It’s not as cheap as some, but I think it’s worth a little splurge!

This place is a hit or miss. I frequented this place for years and I always give them a benefit of a doubt, But I think its time for me to review this place. Its fair for me to give 3 stars because: 1) Good– Their gelato is consistently delicious. That’s good. 2)Bad — I tried their cannoli and the custard is just GRITTY! 2 separate occasions and the texture is the same. 3) Bad — I’ve ordered their fresh fruit tart more than 3 times and one thing is consistent — thick crust. Check out the pics and be the judge yourself. Don’t waste your $ 4.25 for this one. 4) Neutral — Their cupcakes are okay –pretty and decorated well but not the best around. Fresh market tastes way better than theirs. 5) Double Bad — Customer service isn’t the best either. The ladies behind the counter needs more training on how to be pleasing and accomodating and must make the customer feel welcome. They basically asked me what I want and then, I wasn’t even done ordering, they rung me up already. My verdict — The bakery is okay but not the best. For now, it’s the only decent bakery around. Needs improvement on a lot of aspects. You get better bang for your buck if you head 10 minutes further and order pastries in Fresh Market up in Huguenot. Can’t wait to buy my pastries and other sweets at the soon to open Fresh Market in Commonwealth Center Parkway, and Wegmans in Midlothian Turnpike.

One of my many favorites on this side of town the place is small but held to a very high standard and is a must eat place The cheese cake is to die for and the pricing is acceptable Without a doubt the forte is within the presentation I enjoy talking my girl here for a late night dessert By far the best place to eat for romance on a budget

Wow such great food, yummy desserts and EXCELLENT service. I was welcomed right away and seated quickly. I can honestly tell you I had the best scallops here. Cooked to perfection. «Little Beth» was nice, patient and professional. She made great suggestions. I travel for work and cover US& Europe and Rebecca is by far the sweetest waitress I have ever had dealings with. What a great hidden jewel this place is. I asked to speak to the owner to let him know how much I appreciated the service. I stopped in on a Tuesday and within an hour of my arrival the place was packed. So make sure you make reservations for the weekend.
