Unquestionably a place for simple breakfast comfort, not fanciness or excitement. The restaurant itself is décor-wise a step up from basic inexpensive diner [kitchy farm-and-rooster in reds and mustards], but the food feels very similar, right down to the basket of wee Smuckers jam packets next to the salt and pepper. The constant burble of background conversation and clinking silverware is soothing amidst the bustle –the place is unquestionably popular with the locals– making the diner feel welcome without being oppressively loud. The food itself is, as mentioned, unexciting. I hesitate to say boring, knowing my own tastebuds are often geared towards the spicy or the strange, but my breakfast scramble definitely needed the proprietary Egg and I-YI-YI!!! hotsauce for a bit of zip despite being theoretically full of peppers and onions and the like. My companion’s breakfast was differently-flavored, but no more inspiring, but neither one of us can claim we left hungry or disappointed, for the price. I will say that getting my very own carafe of coffee was rather nice, and a concession to how hard it can be for busy servers to get back to your table for refills.

The portions are more than enough. The presentation of the plate is beautiful. The mugs are warmed for the coffee. I had no complaints. I couldn’t think of one. Great management.

My server Natalie was great. She was attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. I always seem to come back to the Mediterranean frittata which is on the sensible menu. Vegas, mozzarella, fruit and a English muffin. Now that’s a great filling breakfast! Yummy. I will return.

A friend of mine recommended this place to me, and while my mother and I were out shopping one morning, we decided to give them a try. It was me, my mother, and my 2-year old daughter. When we walked in we were greeted by a woman who I assume was the manager, since she was dressed nicer than the servers. I could be wrong. Anyway, when we were seated we were only given one menu for the two of us, which I found odd. It happened to us about a week before at another restaurant, causing us to joke that it must be a vibe we give off. Lol. Anyway, our server was at our table in a heartbeat and got us another menu in no time so it wasn’t even an issue. I ordered the Viva la France French Toast which came with two eggs and either bacon or sausage. The food was good, not amazing and not the best I’ve ever had, but the bacon was crispy without being burnt and my over easy eggs were cooked perfectly, just runny enough. My issue was more with the french toast, which was sort of sad. The portion was fine, but the two slices of french toast were not really thick. Perhaps I should have paid more attention to the menu when it described the french toast as «batter-dipped,» because I’m accustomed to french toast being thicker and soaked for a little longer. Not two slices of bread that are quickly dipped and cooked. The flavor was good, but it just wasn’t really what I was expecting from french toast. My mother ordered the Texas Skillet. First of all, she ordered her eggs over easy just like I did, but hers was overcooked so much that the yolk wasn’t runny at all. It’s strange that they’d overcook the eggs that are supposed to be runny, since it’s served on top of the rest of the scramble, as opposed to mine which is just served on the side. She was disappointed, but she moved on in search of the«portabella mushrooms» that are supposed to be included in the dish. She ate half of the scramble before she found them, buried at the bottom. The reason they were so difficult to find? They were somewhere MINCED and there were hardly any at all. She said it tasted fine, but she was disappointed with the execution. For my daughter we didn’t order off of the kids menu because she doesn’t eat very much, so she took some bacon and fruit on the side. One thing I will say about this place is that they really know how to cook their bacon perfectly, which is so hard to find. My mother and I each just ordered tea to drink, which felt very official when our waitress brought out a nice box with tea bags organized perfectly inside and told us we were to choose two. It felt a little like we’d won a prize. Lol. A bit over the top for tea? Sure, but who cares? It was different. All in all, I don’t think we’ll be going back. We enjoyed the visit, and I wish I had gotten our waitress’s name because she was top notch, but we didn’t feel the $ 50 we spent on breakfast(with tip) was worth it. Not that I would necessarily discourage others from trying them, but it was wasn’t as good as I was expecting from a place that’s always so busy and gets such good reviews. I was born and raised in New Jersey, the diner capital of the country, and I’ll take a good diner breakfast back there over this place any day.

The food here was delicious-the one time we were actually able to eat it. We have since tried to return more than 4 times and no tables available for more than 30 – 40 min. If you have more than 2 in your party-you better bring a book and a snack. We’re about to give up for good.

Horrific service with piss poor management. The food was tepid at best. When we sent it back, the plate was heated in the microwave. We asked to speak with the manager and not only was he rude, but also told us he was only remaking part of the order. He told us we were ridiculous. The manager said this. Never again will I eat here. Let me claify, our server Ronald was awesome and apologetic. The manager on the other hand should get out of customer service

I’ve been to this location before but today the customer service had me in disbelief. My plate came out with a cold pancake and asked the server to remake the plate since everything else would be cold by the time it would come back out. When it came back, I could tell it was just put under a broiler or something because it was dry and hard and I had already taken a bite out of it(same pancake). We asked to speak with the manager and he approached the table with an attitude from the beginning. He said«what do you want me to do», «I am not making the full plate again» and argued the fact that it was hot when it came out. He snatched the plates, because we had two meals with an issue, said we were ridiculous and proceeded to walk away. I shared my experience with my the brother and his wife because they introduced me to Egg & I and they had a similar situation with the same manager a few weeks ago. They had decided not to come back. It’s sad that one person can discredit a business. Our server, Ronald, was great throughout it all and apologized for our experience. The manager NEVER extended the smallest piece on courtesy. I won’t return to this location and neither will my family.

I always try to be objective when reading Unilocal reviews. You want so badly to believe the good ones, and cast-off the bad ones as a lone night-off for the establishment. That being said, BELIEVEMEWHEN I TELLYOU… The Egg and I served me the BEST breakfast I have had in a long time. It started with the coffee… Remarkable, unforgettable flavor… and ended with the gravy and biscuits. Richmond met, you owe this to yourself. .get to this restaurant and fast. The best meal you’ll ever experience awaits!

Loved the Huevos Rancheros. Got a bite of my wife’s Crab Cakes Benedict and made a sound that was borderline inappropriate! My 18 month old loved her waffle, eggs, and bacon from the kid’s menu. Arrived Saturday around 11am and it was packed. Now I know why. Will definitely be eating here again very soon.

Today was the first time my family and I ventured to The Egg & I. There was a 20 minute wait but the food was great. Our waitress, Savannah, was very friendly and prompt in responding to any requests that we had. The prices were a tad more expensive than we pay at Cracker Barrel but we were pleased.

Portions are HUGE! If your going for breakfast get there early! I had the Hikers Benedict which was very good and very filling. The hollandaise sauce is on point! The ranch potatoes are the best breakfast potatoes I have had in a long time. My daughter got the chocolate chip pancake which was the size of the plate and came with sausage. She said hers was great as well. Can’t wait to go back and try out some of there other items.

The food was good. Not sure 20% off is enough to justify the fact that the waiter: 1) Forgot our water order. Water. :-/ 2) Our food order was obviously forgotten and came out 25 minutes after ordering. Chef Ramsey would have had your arse. Tighten up. TRAINYOURPEOPLE. And we’ll give you another shot. Should have been a 2-star, except that’d be mean for«South of the RiVA.» Beware there are plenty of phenomenal breakfast joints just 20 minutes North of where you are. Please get better

Always a Great Eggsperience! Everyone is super friendly and efficient. Don’t let the full parking lot turn you away from stopping in. There may be a slight wait but never anything unrealistic over 10 — 15 minutes. Convenient enough to have breakfast a few times a week with the family. I’ve recommended it to friends and family and everyone enjoys it!
