We stopped by here tonight, July 31, 2010 and the place looks to be closed for good. There was also a hand written sign on the front door that said«Closed».

After seeing all the press on this new Milford eatery I decided to take a look. On a gorgeous sunny day I wound my way around the Milford Green and down to the shore. Parking is not easy. After driving around trying to find a place I finally settled for the«residents» only spot. Outside dining is available on the front deck that overlooks the harbor. Inside is bright and appears to be comfortable room for dining. The counter showcased a example of the dinners available. I was in the mood for a sandwich and viewed the menu on the wall. I was quickly handed a printed menu to review. I ordered the Capri;(Mozzerella, Roma Tomatoes and Mesculin and EVO for 7.95. I noticed the bakery display had a nice selection of confections. There was a birthday celebration back at work so I decided to take back a few of the Lemonchello Cupcakes at 2.00 each and Chocolate bar at 1.25 for my son. When I asked for the additional cupcake that was left in case there was a frown, since the box was sealed. Needless to say I did not purchase the last cupcake. Back at the office I sat down to eat my Panini. I was so disappointed. After all the hype the sandwich was barely edible. The only way to describe it is meager. The Panini was mostly bread, stale bread. The mozzarella was fine, the mesculin turned out to be more of a spring mix out of the bag. The edges of the lettuce were brown and wilted. The tomatoes were flavorless. A bite of one of the cupcakes proved to be not worth the calories. This was also stale. I am very disappointed to discover that an establishment that has only been open for one month would serve such mediocre food. I can’t say I won’t be back, but I will certainly be more cautious before I order my meal.

We wanted to go for a walk in Downtown Milford and decided to check out Al Fresco. It is located at the end of the Milford Harbor and is a great walking destination in downtown. The space is casual and unassuming, and the food is exceptional. Prices are reasonable and portions are a nice size. It blew away our expectations. Because the space is so simple, and the design so plain we never expected the outstanding food. Wow! You must check it out.
