I honestly do not know what all the fuss was about this place when it re-opened after being closed for some time. I have eaten there twice. To be fair their fried chicken is actually pretty good… in my opinion the best thing they have. On the other hand their roast beef sandwich is of the pressed beef variety, skimpy portions and certainly nothing special. The last time I went(and the last time period!) I had their hamburger and will tell you it was the WORST hamburger I have ever eaten. Overcooked, dried out and totally devoid of flavor. I always root for the small, local folks but these guys are terrible.

We just ate at Roneys, spent $ 40.00. We were going to get ice in a thermos mug that one of brought and was told we couldn’t put ice in the mug. Which is totally fine, not a big deal. However, when we then get ice and water in the Roneys cups we had drinks in, an employee literally stood be hind them while they were getting ice and water shaking her head and basically acting like they were criminals for getting ice and water. She was confronted and told that type of treatment of customers was completely unacceptable! That was are first and last trip to the new Roneys. Sad, you spend $ 40 for meals and get treated like criminals over ice.

Wouldn’t even give it ONE star. Chicken strips seemed like chicken by-products. Kids had burgers, compared it to school burger and got sick 30 min after eating. Hubs tried the coleslaw, said it was worst he’s ever had with a strong bitter taste. I tried the biscuit, doughy and had overpowering baking soda taste. I couldn’t even swallow the bite of biscuit. Feel cheated out of $ 30 as we all three away our food and had to go somewhere else. Don’t waste your time or money.

Big disappointment on this one. I’m not sure what was large on the«large» roast beef. For $ 5 I expected a decent amount of meat. Fries are generic and the coleslaw is very similar to Kroger deli«tub» coleslaw. Two star because staff was friendly enough.

I miss the old location… The food just isn’t ass good as I remembered it… Had the roast beef sandwiches which are good for a change but I live to far away for a mediocre sandwich.

I love Roneys. The roast beef is real, not the pressed junk at Arby’s. They dip it in au jus so it’s moist. No fat. I get the Large to get more meat, but on the seeded bun. My fried chicken was a small sized breast and was a little dry. Love bbq sauce.

It pains me to write this, because I loved the food at the old location in Mt. Carmel and would use them frequently for catering events. Their food now, however, is horrible. We ordered a few chicken breasts and they tasted old AND pre-cooked, emitting the foulest odor. Maybe the frying oil just needed to be be changed, I reasoned, or maybe they’ve been frying a lot of fish lately in the same oil? In any case, the chicken tasted like the smell of a wet dog even though it was just fried. Maybe I’m spoiled by the Eagle, where their amazing chicken is actually marinated before it’s fried, but this was just awful all around. Kids ordered chicken«tenders» which were worse than their cafeteria food: pre-formed, over-processed, unseasoned mystery white chicken parts pressed and fried. Even the kids didn’t eat theirs. The fries were meh and had that same weird smell as the chicken. Service was friendly, and we didn’t mind waiting 15 minutes or so for fresh fried chicken. Unfortunately, it wasn’t worth the wait or the $. They seemed to have changed their recipe among other things and the quality is down the tubes.

The only thing keeping me from 5 stars is the lack of parking. The fried chicken is amazing, and the apple crisp is a must have anytime I go. If you go at a peak time, be prepared to wait as the line can be out the door with the drove thru wrapped around the building with no available parking spots. All on all, great food and I’m sure going at a less peak time would lessen the parking issue/wait time.

I came here to see what people were saying about the new Roney’s and couldn’t believe some of these reviews. They are not Arby’s. They use REAL roast beef. The sandwiches are supposed to be juicy.(They heat it with the the Au jus sauce) The fact that people don’t like the juicy bun(which is great by the way!) you can ask for no juice(but that really takes away from the sandwhich. Maybe there roast beef is more expensive than«Arby’s» but you get what you pay for. The chicken tenders have white meat only. Yes, you might have to wait for your food, but this is because they try to give a good, hot sandwich. As for not putting anything on the sandwiches, they never have. I don’t think its too hard to go to the BIG fixin’s area and put what you want on it. At least you don’t have to worry about getting stuff that you don’t want. Plus you can put as much or as little of what you would like. Sounds great to me. As for the stroller with only one slice of beef on it, the Stroller is a SALAD sandwich.(Hmm I guess that might be why you don’t get a lot.) As for the employees’ they have been nothing but nice. Sure sometimes you might be having a bad day or the server maybe is having a bad. It happens to the best of us. I do think that the person who mentioned that they didn’t know anything about getting their food, yes SHAME on Roney’s. They probably just think that everyone knows how it works.(like at the other store) They do need to improve their customer service. But over all I think it is a wonderful place to get good, hot food. The«R» burger is great if you are looking for something a little different.

After reading the hype about this place for years and them opening closer to my home, we decided to see for ourselves if it is any good. Short answer: NO, it is not. We arrived to find about four women of various ages behind the counter and only one customer person ahead of us in line. We hung back and surveyed the menu for a good three minutes, and no one so much as spoke to us, let alone welcome us or offer to answer questions. Bad attitudes behind the counter do NOT make patrons want to return. I briefly discussed my dilemma about tenders or bone-in fried chicken with the woman who took our order, and was told the bone-in was better. Still, I wanted tenders and ordered those. So did my husband, so we were in this together. We paid, they gave us nothing like a receipt or anything, and told us nothing about order pickup, so we were left to figure out how they operate ourselves. She simply plopped out beverage cups on a tray and walked away. We got drinks and condiments and waited. Then we waited some more. A solid ten minutes passed and I hovered near the serving area, not knowing if they hollered at you or what. When I saw our food come out, I was immediately horrified to see that all the chicken tenders were suspiciously uniform in size and shape. These things are the minced and squished-back-together pre-formed fakey chicken tenders served to unsuspecting children at bad restaurants. Granted they do appear to be created from what once was white-meat chicken, there were some dicey bites that I would not eat. We were just so disappointed. The fries were the skinny ones that cool off very quickly. Greasewise, this was a four-napkin meal for each of us. The coleslaw was average, cold, and had a mysterious sheen. This was our first time at Roney’s and it will be our last. Any place that is so proud of themselves should try harder to serve a quality product, no matter what it is. Maybe their real fried chicken is good. Maybe their roast beef is good. I doubt it, and we won’t go back to find out. The next time I want chicken, I will go to Tender Town or go visit the Colonel for a consistently good-quality meal.

Roney’s has since moved from its old location in Mt. Carmel to their new location down off of Milford Parkway across from Walmart. You can reference my review on the old location here.( ) Roney’s opened at their new location back in the summer and it was definitely something I was looking forward to experiencing again. It’s been several years since I’ve eaten there, and the place has quite a following to us Eastsiders. The new location, right off I-275 at exit 59, Milford Parkway exit is brand new, which seems bigger than their original location. The restrooms are inside now which was a change from their previous location. I got the large roast beef and a holster of fries for about $ 6 which isn’t bad at all. Their barbecue sauce makes the sandwich much better. The roast beef itself beats Arby’s hands down in my opinion, and is the only thing I’ve had on the menu. I need to expand my horizons. And they finally take credit cards! I’ve never had a bad experience here. If in Milford or passing through on I-275 definitely check it out. Probably one of the better fast food options in the area.

I have no idea how this place gets any good reviews and stays so busy. Stopped by tonight for the first time to check it out and can say that it was also the last time that I will go there. I went through the the drive through and ordered a 3 piece white meat chicken meal and was told that they only had drumsticks and thighs. So I ordered chicken fingers and was told that they didn’t have any because the fryer was not working. I settled for the only thing left on the menu and got the roast beef. It was very disappointing. A very small sandwich with a pathetic amount of wet, tasteless roast beef on a soggy bun. The sandwich is probably half the size of an Arby’s regular roast beef and cost $ 4! I wouldn’t pay $ 1 for a sandwich like that. Avoid the long lines and go to Arby’s if your looking for a roast beef sandwich.

Once upon a time, many years ago in Cincinnati, there were a dozen or more Roy Rogers Restaurants, serving burgers, fries(in «holsters»), fried chicken, and of course their outstanding sliced roast beef sandwiches in a fast-food setting. Originally thriving, the chain dwindled down to just one location on RT32 a mile or so east of Eastgate Mall, and this location had a cult like following, jammed with customers, especially on the weekends. They were forced to change their name a few years back when the old Roy Rogers company tries to make a comeback, and last year, had to close in a lease dispute This year, that business, which had renamed itself to Roneys(the name of the street the business was located on), reopened in a brand new building in Milford to huge crowds and rave reviews. I couldn’t be happier to see them return My favorite thing to order is the large roast beef, but I ask for it on the regular sized bun for a better meat-to-bun ratio, Their hamburgers are also very good, especially the Lucky R(once called the Double R, and still called that by original loyal customers) topped with a slice of american cheese and some good sliced ham. The little\kids cheeseburger(still called the Buckaroo) is the best in town, and I will often order one of these in lieu of fries. Two very unique things about this place — the fixin’s bar and the bbq sauce. The fixings bar is nothing more than a small salad bar where you can load up your sandwich with all the shredded lettuce, fresh sliced tomatoes, sliced onions, and pickles you want, as well as any of Roys, err, Roney’s sauces. The bbq sauce is grainy, sweet, with a little heat that builds as you eat — not like any other bbq sauce I have ever had. It is perfect with the roast beef, the fries(yep, skip the ketchup), and the fried chicken . My kids dearly love the apple crisp, which is nothing more than warm apples and apple pie filling in in a cup topped with cinnamon streusel. Simple and delicious This place is nigh legendary on the east side of town Strongly recommended

The fried chicken was very good. My son’s burger was also well cooked and he really enjoyed it. Not much there for my wife who requires a GF diet. I would go back for a second try but I won’t go out of my way for it.

First time trying new location and first time eating the food again in years. Roast beef wasn’t nearly as good as I remembered. But the layout and size of the restaurant aren’t adequate. Too small, then the line to order is right in front of the soft drink machine, so you have to cut through people to get your drink. Condiment station also right there where people are lined up waiting to order, or in another line waiting on their order. Very poor design. Not nearly enough seating, and also took awhile for the order, for roast beef, hamburgers and chicken tenders, shouldn’t take that long. Kind of disappoint and doubt I’ll be going back anytime soon.

Roney’s is right down the street from our house and after seeing cars lined up in the drive thru we were dying to try it. Verdict: Its okay, but WAY overpriced. My favorite is the stroller, but there is 1 slice of roast beef on it. I am not exaggerating, there is a singular piece of roast beef on a 5 dollar wrap. I highly doubt it even amounts to an ounce of meat. The cost of the stroller is higher than the roast beef sandwich! My husband has had the roast beef sandwich(he felt Arby’s makes a better sandwich), the bacon cheeseburger, and the stroller(we’ve given Roney’s several«tries»). We liked all the food, but for the price and the wait, it’s a bit overrated. Unfortunately, we won’t be back.

Was excited to try this place as it seems to have a lot of fans. Visited the drive-thru and ordered a regular roast beef sandwich with a large lemonade. Wanted mayo on the sandwich but was told I had to ask for sauce at the window. Maybe they don’t put condiments on the sandwiches to save time? Roast beef was kind of stringy and chewy while the bun was soaking wet. Not good and a bit overpriced($ 4.05) in my opinion. Lemonade was extremely watered down and also kind of overpriced($ 2.09) in my opinion. Won’t be back.

The last reviewer’s opening statement makes no sense. No one comes here any more, seriously 50 cars in the lot? That means everyone comes here! I never drive past that this place isn’t packed – seems to be an old time favorite of many. I got the roast beef and cheese; it was good; tasted very fresh. Fries were nice and hot. Hubby ordered the cheeseburger, here’s the odd thing… when he asked what comes on it, she said it comes plain. Over $ 4 for a PLAIN cheeseburger??? So hubby asked if could add things to the cheeseburger… She then replied, «what would you like to add?» The items he added came in the bag, seperate, wrapped in tin foil. A little odd. I love this area and I wish this business the best of luck.

Have been waiting for some time for Roney’s to open once again, however was very disappointed in the roast beef and chicken. The roast beef is never like it was at the previous location. To me it is just another Arby’s. artificial roast beef. I will give them some credit and that is they are drawing a large crowd, however might end up loosing most due to the quality of the food. I will give it some time and give it another try but not for awhile. Please bring back the original roast beef and fried chicken.

Roast beef is still some of the best tasting. Fresh. We got hear right when it opened which is 11:45(?). Just as it has been since it opened a few weeks ago, there was immediately a line out the door. I thought it was because the locals missed having Roy. However, I think it may be because they are still working out their kinks. We got you to order, again close to opening and they were out of white chicken, possible out of slaw and the shake machine was down. Therefore, the lines could be because of lack of efficiency. Hopefully these things improve to keep the legacy of good roast beef and chicken going.

Just had the fried chicken(white meat). I was worried with the line ahead of me that it was going to either be dry or under cooked. It was neither! It was cooked perfect and reasonably priced for what you get. I will definitely be back to try the roast beef.

Nobody comes here anymore it’s way too busy literally 50 cars in the parking lot if you include the grass parking area You almost need to block off time when you come here and make it a family event but it’s worth it. Because they only use fresh ingredients and did not listen to the original franchisors they were kicked out of the franchise God bless their independence!
