Caveat Emptor! Elsa has no cutting skills! She cut my beautiful designed hair into an Asian looking style. Just horrible! I was p. o’ed to no end. I went back she tried to fix it but she cut my frizzy hair with the worse thing to do to this type of hair which is to shear it. If you like the Chinese looking cut then go here but if you’re like me who likes a more modern look then go somewhere else because she sucks at cutting hair! I think she was literally jealous of my hair cut, otherwise i dont know why else she would cut my hair into something worse rather than better. I thought she would give me more of a bob, not into this crap of a look. Now I’m wearing a wig until I get rid of this awful cut.

My mother and I have been getting our hair cut by Elsa for many years. She always does a great job. She knows her hair and she has offered excellent advice about my hair. My mother has a razor cut and I think that Elsa is the one of the few stylists who knows how to do them.

I have yet to try Elsa, but I have been going to Kitty for 5 years now. I think Kitty does an amazing job. She really spends the time and energy making sure you get the haircut you want.(The haircut in the profile picture was actually done by her) Kitty would usually spend an hour or so on my hair. Granted, I do have lots of hair and I always want lots of layers so it may take awhile. But after cutting my hair and blow drying it, she goes back and make sure that your whole head is perfect before sending you off. If you want a really amazing short haircut, I would definitely try Kitty. Their little salon is had an adorable atmosphere, and Elsa and Kitty do put their input on your haircut. Just as Elsa mentioned that the haircut I had really framed my face and it looked good on me. The one amazing thing is that Kitty had a great memory. I don’t come as regularly as I should, as still being a student and not always affording luxuries, but she always seem to remember what I was going into school for and where I work when I come in. The only reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, is because I think Kitty does an amazing job for cutting my hair short, like shoulder length. But when I want a change and grow my hair out, she doesn’t seem to favor it and always tries to get me to cut my hair short again. Other than that, she’s an amazing stylist! I tried getting my friends go to her…

Elsa was great. Before going to Elsa my hair was unruly and I could feel the weight if my hair. The first thing Elsa did was take off the weight. Since it was my first time with Elsa, she asked to see me before making the appointment. She spent 5 minutes discussing my options and then made the appointment. I found that to be very professional. I was trying highlights for the first time and she took a very conservative approach. It gives me confidence that I have someone who understands me and my hair. Elsa is a pleasant conversationalist and I couldn’t believe I was there was 3 hours. I wish she would accept credit cards. I didn’t know and was not prepared with cash. Luckily there was an ATM nearby and she waited patiently till I came back with the cash.

Seems I’ll be the first guy to leave a review. It was the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Was hoping to get a haircut at my usual barber, but he closed shop for the holiday weekend. Decided to try out Elsa’s as I didn’t want to leave the open mall for a haircut. I was mildly taken back by the slightly higher prices, but in the end it was worth it. My first ever«styled» haircut was done professionally and without a second take. It was done right the first time. Slightly different than what I was accusomed to, but this change was pretty good. Elsa even explained what was done and why. I’ll see Elsa again in 3 or 4 months when my hair grows back.

I’ve been going to Elsa for several years. She is the best at cutting hair! I keep an appointment on a regular basis and this works very well. Highly recommended!

Ok I have to hope that someone responds to this. If this IS the Elsa I think it is — you can’t get ANY better. I use to go to her @ the mall in Daly City — she was known as Elsa Vallejo. Then she moved to a place on El Camino and was hoping to start her own studio. Could it be I have found her again???

I have seen Kitty twice — she is very sweet — and Elsa just squeezed me in although I was told that getting an appointment with her always takes«weeks and weeks.» She was worth her reputation. Treated my hair with a technique to take away some of the heaviness in certain areas– which I have asked for at several salons and they never would do(«Thick hair is wonderful…» etc.). She really just gets hair and needed little direction. I would see see either of those lovely ladies anytime!

My entire family’, three adult children, my wife, and I, have been getting our hair cut by Elsa for a long time. Elsa has always done a superb job of meeting all of our different needs. My wife works in a business that demands she look smart and up to date. Women in her office often ask her«who cuts your hair»? My kids are all different brands of trendy and Elsa keeps them happy. I need something quick and a shade above a Marine special. I thoroughly enjoy Elsa’s first rate haircuts and never get asked«where are you stationed, guy«?

I’ve been seeing Elsa for 4 years. I don’t even have to tell her anything other than«make me beautiful» and she decides how to cut my hair. Everyone at work goes nuts over how my hair color/cut match my face and they pay hundreds in MP for their basic ‘do’s. Elsa is reasonable. almost to much for her quality of cut and it’s MODERN cuts. She’ll give you the latest and not try to give you that haircut that everyone else gets. She gives me the kind of cut that allows me to just wash and go, but it’s short at all. Just well cut so that when it dries it looks awesome.

I wish Elsa’s was where I live now in the South Bay. In the last two years I haven’t found anyone as good.(Well, Mitri Salon in Santa Clara is as good, but they also charge $ 15 more.) When I lived in Millbrae this was my haircuttery. They’re located in an odd location down a walkway behind the Walgreens. Kitty was my go-to gal, but the rest(Lisa and Elsa) all seemed to know what they were doing, too. I was always happy with my haircuts, and they charged the very reasonable price of $ 35. It’s a friendly place and all the clients seem to be regulars. The only thing I didn’t like about this place is that before your first cut they require you to come in for a preliminary visit where you talk about what you want done. It seems ridiculously pointless(«Um, yes, I’d like a haircut. Is that allowed?»), and difficult to schedule if you get home after 6(and since this is Millbrae, there must be lots of people coming home late from SF or the South Bay). But that’s my only caveat on coming here. Everything else about Elsa’s is great.
