R Paul-A Shear Experience

I have been going to R Paul-​A Shear Experience since I moved out here in 1981. Paul has cut and style my hair for years. He and everyone there are friendly, professional and are the best!

Paul has been cutting my hair for about 10 years (is that right?)! I love him! He really knows hair and really knows his clients. He will educate you about hair and what will work and not work for your particular hair type. He is longsuffering as he graciously puts up with my type A personality always wiling to accommodate my fussiness. I adore him, really! He even trims my bangs for no additional cost when I am between cuts. You’re sure to love him too!

I can always trust Paul to cut off exactly as much as I want. If it is a new look you want, you can trust that he will match your new look to the shape of your face. He teaches me how to duplicate what he has done between cuts. I have been going to Paul for almost 40 years. Won’t let anyone else cut or color my hair.

Paul is truly gifted when it comes to scissors. That, coupled with the fact that he actually listens to what you say — makes for a wonderful ‘Shear Experience’. He knows his stuff and will work with you to overcome any problems you have. He doesn’t just give you a great style, he will show you how to obtain the same great result at home.

I have gone to R. Paul since I was a kid. He always works with you to figure out the best cut and style for your hair. I have really thick and wavy hair and Paul knows what can work or how to get it to work the way I would want. I have been to another stylist because they told me they could cut my hair in a way I wanted that would not work for my hair. After breaking 3 blades on their electric shaver it was not happening. This is why I stick to Paul he knows what works! Paul is always very personable and enjoyable to talk to. Overall I would highly suggesting heading over to Paul!

Paul at R Paul has been cutting (and now coloring) my hair for about 35 years, and I won’t let another person touch it! He has so accurately named his salon (A Shear Experience) as he is a genius with scissors! He can take the most unmanageable hair, from straight and fine as mine has been to ultra curly, with as many cowlicks as one can have (and I have plenty), and cut in such a way that hair is easily managed. You may think you know how you want you hair to look, but Paul will tell you what your real options are, based on the kind of hair you have.

When I moved to the Bay Area and first started cutting my hair (yes, as a 21 year old) I soon started getting my hair cut by Paul because my grandparents and aunt have all been going to him for years. He was more intimidating than some other people I went to see because instead of just giving me a basic haircut he tried to teach me about the process and is a very forward person. However, now that I’ve seen him a few times I am very happy with him. He really knows his stuff (40+ years of experience I believe) and doesn’t push me to change my habits (i.e. use product). Paul is very friendly and has an excellent memory. He recognized me by my voice the third time I called and can tell me how my grandparents are doing if they visited recently.
Bottom line, I’ll keep seeing Paul for haircuts until I move out of state or he retires.
