Had a haircut here, everyone told me I should never go to this place again. I just wait until the hair grow:(

I had a horrible haircut at a hair salon near Christy’s salon. the next day, I came to her place to have it fixed. she did a wonderful job, I looked a different person afterwards. she really took the time and effort to make you look good.

May is very friendly and skillful. She cuts layers for me and I really love the style. I also got an oil treatment. It really makes my hair much more smoother and softer. I will definitely come back again.

I’ve been getting my hair cut by Christie for the past ten years! I don’t really speak Chinese too well, but that’s not really a huge problem with her. She understands English sufficiently! Anyway, Christie does a great job with my hair. She started by showing me a book of hair styles(a bit outdated, but they work nonetheless, and she is able to do edgier cuts! My tip: bring a photo of what you want and she can replicate it). The cut looks a bit awkward walking out the door, but trust me, give it a few days and the cut really grows into good looking haircut! And, the style keeps that way for the next few months before you need another haircut! My dad gets his hair cut from May, the other hairdresser at the store. My dad personally prefers her. She apparently studied hairstyling in Tokyo, so she’s pretty«legit»! And lastly, for a simple haircut at about twenty dollars plus tips, its a terrific deal! Things to note: they also do massages/facials and manicure/pedicures!

I’ve been May’s happy customer for a very long time. She is expert, highly professional and scrupulously honest. The two hit piece reviews here sound to me as if they are coming from an alternate universe, Hollywood Kong Hong or something equally satanic. Or maybe from a competitor. Back here on Earth, May does my teen daughter’s hair for every dance and prom and NOBODY ever looks better. Her $ 25 haircuts are vastly better than the $ 60 cuts I was paying for before I found her(that’s $ 60 ten years ago, mind you). She’s also a great colorist and just a pleasure to spend time with. Yeah, it’s a Chinese business and yeah, language is going to be an issue for some of my fellow spoiled rotten lilly white Peninsula denizens. If that’s not you, then I’d highly recommend you give May a try.

The first time I came here I was kind and gave them a second chance, despite being cut twice by the hair dresser. The second time I came the hair cut and service was decent and I appreciated the effort they made to accommodate the wheelchair. Unfortunately, the third time was rather awful. The hair dresser was kind of rude and pretty much shuffled me in and then out, not really asking me how I liked my hair or if it needed some changes. After my cut she immediately went away leaving me to wonder if I was done and when to pay. She’s lucky I’m not dishonest because I could have left right then and there while she attended someone else who needed a hair washing. I was disappointed in my cut and service, I feel it’s just not worth returning even though the price is relatively cheap. So if you just want to get in and get out for a so-so cut maybe this place is for you. If you don’t want to fear for your ears and neck and work with someone who cares then find another place.

If I could give negative scores i would. This is the most horrible salon ever, especially the owner May! She has no intergrity as a business owner, she won’t own up to her mistake/mess up. People take your money and go anywhere but this salon. You will regret it if you ever go see May for anything. Especially if you let her do your eyes. Don’t let her touch you, she is so unprofessional. She will and did screw up!!! Plus the place is filthy, May will do others’ hair and then come back WITHOUT washing her hands and touch your face!!!

I was introduced to this place by my cousin who lives in SF. I always make it a point to to go there when I visit! This place is great for haircuts, hair treatments and facials. Kristy takes her time to carefully listen to what you want and determine what kind of facial you might need based on how your skin looks and feels. She offers great tips on how to blow dry my own hair at home. She even offers me tips on how to take care of my skin after each facial treatment. I’ve seen a great improvement on my skin since I’ve visited her. This is a great place to go if you want good quality service and attention.

This is the best place for a haircut if you want quality and people who really care. They take their time and know what they’re doing. It is a little pricy, and of course its all asian people. But still, they really do care. It’s worth every penny. I always leave a nice tip as well. I’ve had Kristy cut my hair for a 5+ years now and she always gets it right. My friends and my mom(and her friends) come here too and they’ve all been happily satisfied, so I’m sure you will be too. Go here to get a haircut!

Love this place! I come here my haircuts, hair coloring and most of my monthly facial treatments. Kristy is a wonderful hairstylist and takes extra good care of my skin and hair. My skin is always feeling so refreshed and bright after each treatment. She listens to what you need and always provide excellent customer service. She takes her time with each client!

Good for cute asian haircuts. $ 25 for my cut. I like Kristy and always end up tipping more than I should for her hard work. Haircuts here include shampoo, cut and blow dry. Expect to spend at least 45 minutes here! 45 mins for $ 25?! Ballerr and not expensive, those who say it’s expensive don’t know how much bordering salons cost! I actually walked door to door to each salon in downtown Millbrae along Broadway to select the right salon. Other places cost $ 35 for haircuts! Like what?! Anyway, Kristy does my hair right and always gives me cute cuts. I always ask for a-line, slightly layered, short hair and she gets it done! Now about scheduling my next hair appointment…

I’ve been May’s customer since I was in high school(that’s half a decade ago, lord!). The reason for my loyalty is not that she’s friends with my mother(which she is), but that she just always gives me a great cut. I’m an exacting customer when it comes to haircuts, and May has always, always been willing to adjust my haircut till it’s perfect. This is something that gets on the nerves of most stylists. They consider it insulting, or are afraid I’ll cut into the next customer’s appointment. Not so with May. She’s exceedingly flexible and accommodating. Even more important, however, is that she has great stylistic sense and a willingness to take that creative plunge. One person called it Hong Kong style, and she’s quite right. May’s theory is that people tend to think Asian women should have«boring, bookworm haircuts,» and so she does her best to do the opposite. This is awfully important to me as a young woman who’s gone through a variety of hairstyles. I’ve gone to other stylists asking for«edgy» haircuts and come out with… ohh it makes me shudder! Let’s not speak of it. Someone below mentioned that May didn’t listen to her. I’ve never had this problem, but I am extremely explicit in my descriptions and requests before, during, and after the haircut, because I don’t speak Chinese and I want to be sure there are zero communication problems. Occasionally I will bring in photos to help as well. May’s clientele is mostly Asian. Though I’m half Asian, I don’t have the usual thick Asian hair. My hair is extremely fine and lacking in volume. All the same, she works magic on my hair, using techniques for giving me volume that no other stylist has done to date. It’s hard to find a stylist you trust. It always takes good communication to cross that line. But May is quite intuitive, and you’re likely to come out with a better look if you trust her. And if you don’t like it, don’t hesitate to ask her to edit the cut, because she’s as flexible as they come.

This salon is a bit pricey. The woman owner is kind of stubborn or thinks she knows your hair/interests/likes better than you at times. You will tell her to cut 2 inches, she will cut 4. My mom comes here often, and her hair always ends up looking like the owners hair cut. HAHA. But, she does have good HK style sense and up keeps herself nicely which means she has taste. I got my hair permed here once, and it turned out so curly I looked non-Asian.but rather, you know. I think it cost me $ 200. So, if you come, just make sure you make it clear what you want. Bring in a picture or something.
