Shadow Collection is a catchall for interesting items from the homeland whether it be hong kong, the mainland, or taiwan:
–trinkets to be hang on chains
–toys
–music vcd’s
–hong kong/​china dvd’s
–chinese newspapers
–chinese/​japanese candies
–popular magazines
stuff is stacked nicely and can be easily browsed.

–pretty sweet, uses glucose, melon powder, and palm kernel oil

–usually pass up vcd’s now since most videos available gratis on the net.

Cute little located on Broadway. Very clean and organized. There was a very nice Asian girl working. Super helpful.
I love the cute toys and plushes stuff animals. They also have jewelry too.

This is the place in Millbrae to browse cute stuffed Asian cartoon character toys and Chinese music and movies (though almost cd’s seem to be of counterfeit from China type). Prices are not that cheap though compared to buying in SF.

I can’t believe it is the only store in Millbrae for cute stuff. Well, not bad.

I am WAY too old to be followed around in a store. Who knew that by «shadow collection,» they really meant that they LITERALLY shadow you while you peruse the store.
I will NEVER go back.

This place is very nice and the shop gals are delightful. I always get my newspapers from them and once a while the candy or whatever becuase im too lazy to go to chinatown to get it.

Very cutesy kind of gift store that sells a mish mash of imported Hong Kong tabloid magazines, some snacks that would cater to those gen x’ers who grew up eating/​drinking (they have Twisties and Green Spot orange drink!!!), stuffed plush dolls like Totoro and Mashi Maro, plus the top 10 HK/​Taiwanese pop CDs, some music VCDs and a very light selection of movie DVDs. If memory serves the other side of the store sells some sort of jewelry, but never really paid attention. I believe this is a 2^nd branch of a store in SF, and I’m guessing on Clement street somewhere.
Shops like these would work if they were a bit more specialized and carried more product. I would think there is a market there for newspapers and tabloids for the HK expat to buy and read before they have dim sum or the HK style café around, but the other stuff I’m not sure if they will sell, especially it is in Hong Kong mentality to seek out MP3s and use torrents…
A great effort, but would have appealed to me many years ago. Alas I’ve moved on to better things. Still fun to pop in and take a look though.
