Take out lunch for a crowd left much to be desired. Orders combined, no sour cream, no salsa, no guacamole as ordered. Very little meat in items, hard shell tacos instead of soft. Greasy quesadilla. Disappointing.

I read the reviews on here and went there super excited. I think walking in and having the place pretty empty on a Saturday night should’ve been our first clue. The next was when another diner had the have the food taken back because it was bland. We stayed anyway. The experience starts out with chips… I was then expecting salsa but none came so then I was going to order some but they didn’t have any, as in not on the menu. Tex/mex… no salsa. Hmm… My husband had a burrito, I had the BBQ Quesadilla and wanted to try one of the shrimp tacos everyone raves about. Husband could not finish the burrito. He said it was tasteless. While it seemed to be cooked well, and I will say the food appears to be fresh, it completely lacked flavor. BBQ Quesadilla was chicken simply doused with BBQ sauce. It was OK. The shrimp taco had two teeny shrimp in it. The sauce was OK but IDK with the RAVE reviews on here, again I was expecting more. At least bigger shrimp? We left rather quickly and husband grabbed some slices at Colosseo. There are a few Mexican places popping up out here. This is not one I will be going back to. Also, if you are planning on trying it, be sure to have cash. They accept credit cards but not for tip. Thankfully I actually had some cash on me.

I got a coupon for Scorpion Grill in the mail so my husband and I decided to give it a try for take-out. We ordered: the beer-battered shrimp taco, the fish taco, buffalo chicken quesadilla, jalapeño poppers, and shrimp & corn chowder soup. Everything was really tasty, buffalo chicken quesadilla was surprisingly spicy, jalapeño poppers were spicy too but that was not surprising. The ingredients in both tacos tasted really fresh and a nice medley together. The food and the prices were great. However, we called the order in and were told 20 – 25 minutes. I arrived nearly 30 minutes after we called in the order and sat there for another 10 because it wasn’t ready. The restaurant was not busy, there appeared to be maybe 3 tables there, and there were a couple of other people who came in to pick up orders to-go. That part was disappointing. I think we would have it again, but really hope that this kind of delay is not a regular thing for them.

Good place, friendly staff. Food is OK, not as good as it has been advertised by other Unilocalers, in my opinion. Have had better mexican food near bye.

Great food! Fresh ingredients and a great variety. Not your average Mexican menu. Try the mango guac!

If you feel like waiting forever for food, this is the place to go. After sitting at a table, we waited forever for anyone to come over, finally had to ask for menus. Ordered drinks and food, after waiting ridiculously long, I had to ask a 2nd time for our drinks, which then came out after the food. The chicken in my fajitas was the driest chicken I have ever eaten. I had been excited to try this place. What a letdown. Surely won’t be back.

The food is fantastic! Many of the items are spicy fusion dishes. If you like slightly more exotic combinations of more traditional dishes then you’ll definitely like their food. The mango guacamole is a personal favorite. The sweet mango bits perfectly compliment the spicy guacamole. While there are not a ton of vegetarian options, many menu items can be adapted.

I had s mixed experience. Some very good, some bad and some ok. I ordered the chicken white bean chili and to sum it up was very disappointed. It was just not white bean chili. Their version was under seasoned and the chicken was tough. I also had the chicken burrito. Not bad. You could probably get s better burrito at Chipotle, but we don’t have one locally in miller place and it wasn’t bad. Again, chicken was a bit tough and lacked anything special. Finally we had the green chili sliders and these were excellent. Perfectly spicy. These I would order again and again. The fries were also excellent. Well seasoned and crispy. All in all this is a decent place for take out as an alternative to pizza and Chinese. You may have to try it a few times to eliminate the average dishes and order the good dishes. The price is quite good.

My mom and I just visited Scorpion Grill, and I enjoyed it so much that I felt compelled to review it. First of all, I do not understand any of the complaints about the employees or service. Yes, the counter was manned by teenaged girls, but they could not have been any friendlier or more efficient. I teach high school English, so maybe I have a naturally higher tolerance for teenagers than some, but the service was great. We were politely greeted, our order was taken correctly and efficiently, our food was delivered promptly, and one of the young ladies even came back to check on how everything was. Furthermore, our entrees were ready while we were still eating appetizers, and she asked if it was okay to bring them out or if we would rather wait. I’d call that pretty attentive service for an establishment where you order at the counter! We also greatly enjoyed the food. We ordered a lot of food, as we were using a certificate and had to spend $ 30. The prices are very reasonable, so we ordered a variety to get it to add up. We had chips with guacamole and jalapeño poppers to start. My mom had a steak burrito, I had a chicken burrito, and we each had a ground beef taco. We took home leftovers, because the portions of everything were generous, and we would have exploded had we tried to finish it all! All of the food was fresh and flavorful. The guacamole was definitely homemade, as were, to my surprise, the tasty jalapeño poppers. I also liked that they mix together all of the ingredients in the burrito filling, so you’re getting all of the flavors together instead of random mouthfuls or rice or beans or meat. There was a good variety of hot sauces on the table. The restaurant was also very clean. We will definitely return!

This place surpassed my expectations for sure! I ordered a black bean burrito and for 6.50 they loaded me up with all I can ask for and not to mention the food was pretty good as well! Definitely an underrated establishment.

In California they say, «if you don’t see Mexicans in the kitchen, leave the restaurant». This adage applies to all restaurants, but especially Mexican and Tex-Mex places. At Scorpion Grill, there are no Mexicans in the kitchen. On the night we visited, there were five anglo teens and an older white dude. Based on the food, I’d be genuinely surprised if any of them had even seen a Mexican in their lives, much less tasted Mexican food, or knew they could hire people who could show them how to make it properly. We visited on a Sunday night, anxious to get in and out to watch the last game of the Blackhawks-Kings series. The young woman behind the counter was… well, I don’t know if she was very high or just very, very stupid. She kept getting distracted by something we couldn’t see, which made the process even slower. I hope to god that it was her first day. Otherwise, the Scorpion Grill has at least one employee who doesn’t know what refried beans are, or if they carry them. Our transaction required her to consult with a manager about the beans and was also interrupted for a conversation about a school project when a coworker came over from the kitchen to chat. Our order was simple: fries and two burritos. One was a chicken burrito, extra spicy. The other was steak with guac and sour cream, also extra spicy, and with refried beans instead of black beans. We paid in cash, which caused our cashier some problems, as she was wasn’t sure how to add the coins and bills together to make the right change. And then we began waiting. And waiting. And waiting. Now, there was no line when my date and I came in. There was a family in the restaurant, but they were nearly finished with their meal, so there were no orders ahead of ours. Thus, there was no good reason for it to take forty-four minutes to make our food(remember, we were anxiously watching the clock because of the game). A family of four came into the restaurant almost ten minutes after us, and they got food five minutes before we did. Same with two groups who ordered takeout and left well before we did. About 30 minutes in, we asked what the deal was. The counter girl apologized but made no effort to check on things. When our food finally came, I asked for a side of chipotle sauce. The counter girl said, «Oh, your meal comes with it!», but I insisted anyways. I’m glad I did, because that was the only chipotle sauce(or sauce of any kind) in the bag when we got home. The fries were hot and tasty, and that was the sole enjoyable part of our entire Scorpion Grill experience. My boyfriend was super hungry by then and sampled his burrito in the car. Not two minutes after leaving the restaurant, his burrito was cold. He showed me that the cheese was still in unmelted shreds; it was unclear if his burrito was ever actually cooked. We cut into it and there were no beans or spicy sauce — only rice, cold chicken, and cold cheese. He sampled the chicken and confirmed that there was no spice at all — not even black pepper. My burrito was also a failure; the steak was bland, there was no sour cream or guac(which we paid extra for), and no spice whatsoever. A white rice and oatmeal burrito would have been more flavorful by comparison! Also, they had clearly put black beans on it first, and scraped them out(incompletely) before switching to refried beans as I had requested. So, basically, we spent 44 minutes waiting for the worst burritos I’ve had on Long Island(given the lack of decent Mexican food on LI, that’s saying a lot!), and in the end, they didn’t even give us the right types of crappy burritos. I called the store the next day to complain, but was informed that there was no manager on duty. They took a message. A month later, I’m still waiting for that call.

Good food and fair prices, they make the food fresh. Nice portions and tasty menu for a small Texmex place.

The wife and I went here tonight for the first time because of a groupon. The name had me intrigued, unfortunately there are no dishes containing scorpion on the menu. I won’t hold this against them. When we walked in the door I was surprised that the place did not look like your typical spanish, southwest or tex-mex restaurant. It was clean, well lit and comfortable. We got there just as it was getting busy. As a result it took a while to get our food. We were ok with that because they gave us some chips and salsa to pass the time. The wait was well worth it. Everything was delicious and very reasonably priced. We both loved everything we tied including the shrimp and corn chowder, blackend tuna and shrimp tacos. We are so glad we found this place. Looking forward to going back again soon.

We were surprised at how good the food was here! We were expecting very basic and boring tacos. Instead, there’s a wide variety of food and everything that we had was delicious and extremely reasonably priced. This is our family’s new go to spot when we need a change from my cooking.
